Character Name: Wataru Kurenai.
Character Series: Kamen Rider Kiva.
Character Age: 22.
Background: Here we go!

I'll be taking him from early on in the series right in the middle of him meeting Kengo for the first time.

Personality: At a first glance, Wataru is a man who is crippingly shy and nervous, even going so far as to isolate himself from others and earning the nickname Obaketaro from his neighbors. In fact, it's safe to say that he is extremely introverted to the point of having others, such as his friend Shizuka, take care of his problems and talk for him while he just keeps to himself. He also has a habit to pull out a notebook with pre-written lines as a way to talk to others as well as use a mask and a pair of goggles since he believes that he's allergic to the world. However, this is largely in his head and has been commented on by Shizuka herself. He also has a strong penchant to take a bath whenever he feels depressed or unsure about what to do, in which Kivat, his companion (as well as transformation device), gives him advice on what to do from here on out. How well the advice sticks and is utilized is entirely up to Wataru, however he does at least try to do his best with the advice that he's been given.

When Wataru is around other people like himself (shy, quiet, reserved -- all of the above), he tends to be more comfortable and a bit more open than he originally would if he was around those who are more outgoing, extroverted and loud. Yet, this doesn't mean that Wataru absolutely refuses to change into someone who can carry a conversation without awkwardly stuttering all over the place or to be someone who is more outgoing rather than not. To those who have been his friends or people he admires, he tries his best to keep up with a conversation or try to help them out. An example of his helpfulness is that with all the bad things that his father, Otoya Kurenai, supposedly did, Wataru decided to take it upon himself to help right his wrongs by doing a series of odd jobs so that the people he scorned could forgive him despite everything. Another thing about him is that he's protective to some degree. This was demonstrated when he met Takeo Omura and instead of killing him, he decided to scare him out of his trance and told him to get away and go somewhere safe where he wouldn't hurt anyone else, including himself.

One of the most important people in Wataru's life is his father. At the very beginning, we can see that Wataru wants to make his father proud with the legacy he left behind and thus, he sets to work to find the perfect ingredients for a varnish for his violin - but not just any violin. In Wataru's mind, he wants to surpass the masterpiece known as the Bloody Rose and to remind him of that goal, he has it stored in a cabinet with a glass panel so that he can constantly observe it as he works and reminds himself of his goal. He also shares quite a few similarities with his father, such as his need to help others out when they need it. Another one would be his lack of social graces, such as when Wataru was observing a table by the coffee house he frequents, he asked the owner if he could have it just because he was that fascinated by the varnish it had and he wondered just how he could replicate it for his violins.

Another important person in Wataru's life is Keisuke Nago, whom he idolizes as a strong person and he asks him for his help in getting more confident in himself and his abilities. Though, when Nago decides to announce that he will personally kill Kiva, Wataru grows wary of him and tries to see him as a friend still. Yet, the relationship between the two of them grows further strained when it's revealed that Nago is Kamen Rider IXA and that he decides to kill Takeo Omura himself so as to return the life he so had. Wataru is understandably shaken up about this and at this point, he really doesn't know what to think of Nago and himself when he's so set on ridding the world of Fangires and Kiva himself.

And finally, someone else who is important in Wataru's life is his childhood friend Taiga Nobori. In his neighborhood and early on in life, Wataru would sadly fall under the victim of bullying and Taiga offered a hand to Wataru so that he wouldn't feel so alone in the world. However, as the two grew up, Wataru and Taiga drifted apart and he was alone until he met up with Shizuka Nomura and the two became close friends. Over time, the two of them would become great friends to the point where Wataru would have her "fight his battles", so to speak, and have her talk for him where he would feel overwhelmed with so many responses. Shizuka has, also, kept Wataru calm through his obsessive episodes, as well as be there for him when he's felt down in the dumps and felt like he was worthless for not getting his varnish to be absolutely perfect for a violin. He has also gone as far as to burn the violins he was working on because they were, in his eyes, not good enough and that disposing of them through burning would be better.

As Wataru's world keeps on turning up and down in different directions, he still strives to be the person he knows he can be and someone that can make others proud of him in the end. That being said, Wataru is largely someone who wants to find his place in his world, and even though he has a few oddities about him, he truly does want to improve into a better person overall so thhat he can surpass his father and make his own ultimate violin with the ultimate varnish as well as protect the music in each person he comes across and those that he cares about.

Abilities: Wataru is Kamen Rider Kiva, and as such, he has access to the primary form of Kiva, as well as several other forms at his disposal. He's able to assume the form through Kivat, a mechanical bat-like creature that lends their power to someone for a transformation. When Kivat bites down on his hand, a series of stained-glass like designs appear with his half-fangire heritage coming to the surface. This is because Kiva cannot be used by humans under any circumstances. For his other forms, Garulu, Basshaa and Dogga, these require the usage of Fuestles and the respective Fangires (Jirou, Riki, and Ramon) are needed for him to access these forms.

Outside of his Rider abilities, Wataru is a luthier and he's able to repair and build string instruments, mostly focusing on the violin, viola and cello, though he obsessively searches for the right ingredients to use for a varnish so that he can make his own violin, which entail the uusage of uncommon materials for said varnish. In addition to this, he's able to play the violin and has been shown to play an electric bass guitar for a rock band.

Sample Entry: Um... Excuse me, but... This is Wataru, again.

I've...finished the orders people requested. I can...deliver them as soon as you'd like or j-just drop them off.

[ There's some awkward fumbling before the line apparently goes dead. He doesn't know what else to say and he's really never been the greatest conversationalist on the planet. ]

If t-that's all then... bye for now.

[ Now he hangs up and waits for people to come to his house. This was easier said that done in most circumstances. ]
