Character Name: Scott Pilgrim Character Series: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Character Age: 23 Background:http://scottpilgrim.wikia.com/wiki/Scott_Pilgrim Personality: Thoughtless, self-centered, a braggart, a coward, and a hero. These are all things that Scott Pilgrim represents in his personality and actions. His thoughtlessness comes from the many hours of video games he's wasted his life on. He's a sucker and a treasure trove of knowledge for anything pertaining to retro gaming and music, as well as other nerdy pop-culture trivia. He forgets anything that doesn't directly involve himself, i.e. birthdays and tasks he's been asked to do. He often forgets to do chores around his shared apartment, having been asked many times by his then girlfriend Ramona Flowers to empty the dishwasher but instead he'll spend 8+ hours playing games on her cellphone. Though he may be polite from his Canadian upbringing, Scott has in the past been the worst example of caution and compassion. The very fact that he had at one point been dating two girls at the same time without either of them knowing about the other proves just how thoughtless and selfish he is.
Scott believes himself to the main character in his own movie/comic book/whatever medium is being represented at the time. He exploits this fact and has many times broken the "Fourth Wall", and referenced events which have happened in previous chapters of his story and even in future chapters which have yet to happen. He only cares about himself, doing what needs to be done so long as it helps him further along, but more often than not has some one else pick up the slack for him.
He's a coward in that he never seems to face his problems directly. Instead he'll whine and complain at first, seeking counsel in his room mate Wallace or clinging to his girlfriend Ramona's skirt. He shirks his duties as a bass player in his band, puts off trying to find a steady job, is terrible at completing favors that are asked for him, and in general.. he's just utterly undependable and flaky.
Scott walks a rigid line between cocky and confidence. Subconsciously, he'll put himself down a lot and wallow in self-misery. Other times, he'll hold his chest high and claim he's "the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived" like that one Weezer song. He'll boldly exclaim to a pretty face how incredible he is one moment, then the next say how terrible the band he plays in is. He suffers from the Marty McFly syndrome, where if you call him a coward/chicken, he'll plunge head first into a fight without thinking of the consequences. This merely adds to how foolish and thoughtless he is, but also shows how arrogant he can become.
Even through all of these faults and flaws, Scott IS a hero at heart. He DOES know the difference between right and wrong, and what true justice is, but he does forget it from time to time (okay, a lot of the time) but in the end he does what is right and fights to save what he wishes to protect. In the end of all things, Scott does mature and grow, and come to realize that in life, you get hurt. This is how he is able to gain control of the Sword of Understanding, a powerful weapon which Scott is able to wield from within himself. Scott is capable of understanding and thinking of others feelings, and so he is able to fight his toughest fight, and save what he loves and cares for.
As a whole, Scott should not be a likeable hero. But, like ivy, he grows on you. He is pure-hearted at his core, and will fight when the fight must be fought. If one thing does ring true with Scott, it is that his desire to live is strong.
Abilities: Scott is a highly capable fighter, using various moves and techniques derived from various games, most noticeably from the Street Fighter series. Scott's fighting prowess is said to be incredible; according to Kim Pine, it's earned him the title "the best fighter in the Province". He can employ incredible moves such as the Shoryuken and the Air Juggle. Scott has also shown the ability to level up, doing so increases his stats, and grants him a sword to use in combat, Scott is as skilful with swords as he is at hand-to-hand combat, due to him taking a longsword proficiency in grade 5. Sample Entry: ((Not sure if this is acceptable put this is from a previous post I made with Scott before I got kicked out from AC due to me being an idiot and shoddy internet connection woes. Let me know if you'd like me to post a new one if this is unacceptable, please!))
[Scott, having faced the grim reality that nothing was going to save him from the cold, evil clutches of the town was now filled with a resolve like any other he had felt before. He knew the answer to the ultimate question. It was not 42, no. He simply needed nothing more than a phone, and a will.\
