Personality:

Lily Evans is marked by gentleness. Precocious at an early age, her sharp sense of observance veers towards kindness, and it shapes her relationship with those around her from close family and friends to strangers. The first glimpse we get of a young Lily is chastising her older sister for calling her a freak, less out of indignation, and more out of concern at the malice of her sister’s words. She is quick to defend her sister--despite her harsh words and demeanor, due to her ability to see the good in her underneath her lack of acceptance. Her friendship with the young Severus Snape is another example of her kindness. The young boy from a poverty stricken neighborhood gains her innocent affection and her unwavering friendship. Lily’s faith in others shine through this friendship as she keeps standing up for a friend even as they drift apart.

The ability to love through and through, however, is Lily’s strongest trait. Ranging from her faith in her family as she tries to reach out to her estranged sister, to her complete devotion to those she holds close: her husband and her child. It is Lily’s exceptional love--an old form of strong magic--that manages to keep her child safe through its ultimate protection. She willingly sacrifices her life in order to keep her son alive. This love is enhanced by a fundamental and exceptional courage, standing up to bullies during her school years, and from then on defying a dark wizard by refusing to join his cause.

Lily’s courage is supplemented by her strong mindedness and perhaps even her strong headedness. Her fiery temper is reserved for those preying on the weak, even if it has to be directed at her future husband. Her strong sense of justice gets the better of her sometimes, prompting her to lash out with her sharp tongue to those deserving her anger. James Potter comes to mind, for whom she has very little patience. She is quick to see beyond his popularity, latching onto his arrogance and his tendency to hex other students as a past time. Similarly, her solid principles is what she lives by, lending to her unwavering resolve. However, Lily has to balance a struggle between her non-wizard background and the new life and atmosphere she is introduced to. Dealing with the prejudices that come with adapting to the wizarding world, she also deals with the conflict in her deteriorating relationship with her only sister, who does not take kindly to Lily’s vastly different new life.

Extremely talented, Lily’s exceptional talent has made her well liked among her peers and professors in addition to her sweet nature. She is described as “exceedingly bright”, especially for her ordinary background. Her wit is apparent under nicer circumstances when its sharpness is not used in anger, the former which she is remembered for by her potions professor, if fondly so. She tends to be overwhelmed by emotions, her sympathy taking the better of her when losing loved ones whether to death or estrangement. She is tender hearted enough to be kept awake for nights after the death of her colleagues, and bursting in tears at her sister’s harsh treatment of her. She is, however, able to weigh logic over emotions, choosing to end her friendship with her oldest friend when it threatens a break with her principles.

Abilities:
As a witch, Lily possesses an inherent ability to perform magic, although she’s proficient at some particular disciplines more so than other ones, namely spell dueling and transfiguration.

Sample Entry:

This is certainly was not what I had in mind whenever my parents joked about pulling me out of Hogwarts into a “normal school”. And across the ocean, no less! I do hope it’s just a prank. I can’t bear to think of them waiting innocently for my arrival back home at the platform.

Not that I’m going to be any lenient if it is a prank! The nerve of them--whomever they are, although I’m starting to have a good idea now--sending me into the past and to another country altogether. You tell an arrogant toerag to go snog the Giant Squid and he blasts you off across the ocean! That will be something to answer for... As soon as I get my wand to start working again.
