Player Plot Permissions Post

This post is for requesting approval for player run plots. By this, we mean any plot that may involve a significant proportion of the playerbase, affect the game at large, or involve significant NPC involvement. If you wish, you may also use this post if you would like to request a thread with a specific NPC. While the lines of what constitutes a player run plot may seem a little blurry, we trust you to use your judgment on this! If it's just something small, you probably don't need approval.

Some sample player-run events you would need approval for include:

• Your character is organizing an attack on City Hall, the police station, the post office, etc.
• Your character is going on a massive spree of some sort (killing, damaging property, poisoning, brainwashing, redecorating, whatever you people do).
• You want to start a Mayfield event, like a school play, a dance, a holiday celebration, or a neighborhood cook-off, that you want Mayfield or NPCs to have been behind.
• Your character wants to talk to an NPC about something besides Mrs. Smith's excellent apple pies.
• Your character wants to do some plot-related exploring.
• Your character is doing something that will affect a lot of people and/or a lot of people's stuff.

Some sample player-run plots that do not need approval:

• Your character is going on a spree of some sort that will only affect immediate CR and/or a few players you have spoken to/no sign-ups involved.
• Your character wants to open a home business/start a dance/cook-off/army/whatnot on their own, regardless of how Mayfield feels about it.
• Your character wants to use surgical techniques to construct a human centipede out of three people or fewer.
• Your character is doing something that is only going to impact themselves or a few characters whose players you have spoken to.

Additionally, our intention with this approval post will never be to get in the way of your fun. We'll only be rejecting events if they're not consistent with Mayfield (Grady's never going to hold a karaoke contest, so please stop asking), if we feel it'll negatively impact players who don't want to be involved, if there's a time conflict with one of our or another player's plots, or if we just personally don't like you.* Aside from mod events, time conflicts will be resolved on a first come, first served basis.

If we haven't been in contact with you for longer than a month, please PM us ASAP to let us know we're slacking! If your plot is scheduled in a timeframe shorter than within a month of posting, please PM us when you post so we can make sure to get to you. We can't guarantee any preferred dates.

Comments will be screened, but our replies will be unscreened. Please make sure to indicate whether or not you would prefer your comment to remain screened after our reply. After we've read your comment and discussed it, we'll reply to either approve the plot or ask for some changes.

We hope that this will make it much simpler to get started!

*Only applies to BF.

Plot Approval Request:

Please expect up to a month's wait before a reply. Our goal is to process player plot requests twice per month, but we may not meet this goal during busy periods.

If you know you want to do a player plot, please plan it well in advance. Very small scale plots weekend are possible on short notice if we have no event or app period conflict, but there is no guarantee. Large scale plots should be requested at least one month before you intend to do them.
