Applications

• Please read over all the rules and information before applying in order to minimize any confusion before joining.

• If applying for a character that has already been dropped, it would be a good idea, though not required, to know something of their previous interactions. You are also free to pick up a dropped character with no memories of their previous time in Mayfield.

• All content for the personality and sample entry in your app must be written or roleplayed by you; for the personality section in particular, we do not accept copied text from wikis or other sources. Obviously, you may not copy your app from other players, whether in Mayfield or other games. Application plagiarism will result in a ban from the game.

• If you wish for your character to be placed in a specific house, please mention this in the relevant section of the application and specify that permission was obtained by the PCs already residing in that house. We will be operating by the Honor System for this, and there is no need for others to comment their permission in this post!

• Other special requests would also best go in the beginning of the application. Remember, grammar and spelling are important -- if your app contains errors, you will be asked to revise.

• Please post all applications or canon updates in this post; posting them elsewhere and linking to them from here may cause them to get changed later. Posting them here keeps us from having to save them.

When Applying, Fill Out the Following:

When Applying for an Original Character, Fill Out the Following

• Before applying, please look over any applications that were recently accepted to get an idea of what we're looking for.

• If you apply for a character that has already been reserved, we will inform you and ignore the application until the reserve runs out. You may not apply for more than two characters from the same canon. For the sample entry, you may write your own entry, or use a post from a musebox, dressing room, or other game. We recommend [community profile] testrun_box if you prefer the latter!

• After you're accepted, please follow all of the instructions given. You will need to reply to the acceptance, post your journal to the friend add page and your canon post, join the communities, and use the friend add page to update your journal. Once you're accepted, please introduce yourself on the community when you're ready to play.

• If your app is "Pending", do not freak out! This means that we need you to make some revisions, and does not mean you're rejected. We generally give players a chance to revise before rejecting them, but we will reject apps that do not address the concerns stated when we asked for a revision. If you have been rejected, our reply will clearly state this to be the case. If we have not gotten back to you yet, under no circumstance does this mean you are rejected. If it has been over a week since our last reply, it would be a good idea to contact us with a reminder, otherwise, please be patient!

• If you have received a "Pending" notice, you will have one week to supply us with your revisions, or your reserve will be considered expired and that someone else is free to apply for the character.

• The typical wait for a reply on apps may be anywhere from a day to a little over a week. If any part of your application requires a pending, it may be another week after your reply to that before we can get to you. We process a high volume of apps every round, so please be patient.

If you have not heard back on a pending for over a week after apps close, please send a PM directly to the mod account.

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.

Re: Hajime Aikawa | Reserved | Kamen Rider Part 2

Hajime is not exactly forthcoming with important information when the situation calls for sharing that information with others; he’d rather keep things to himself and attempt to solve the problem on his own. For example, when he’s having issues repressing his natural form of the Joker, he doesn’t go out and say, “Hey, I’m really dangerous right now, and any moment now I might turn into a monster that will try to destroy the world,” right away. He’ll wait until the last possible moment to let anyone know there’s a problem. He does try to isolate himself, but it’s not until he’s about to change then and there that he lets anyone else know he’s changing and what caused him to lose control in the first place.

When placed into a situation he knows nothing about, there is a chance he will just go along with it, though he’ll remain stone-faced the entire time. There are a couple of episodes in Blade in which he is stricken with amnesia and through a strange series of events swaps places with a takoyaki seller that happens to look exactly like him…and he just goes with it, allowing the takoyaki seller’s girlfriend to drag him around from place to place all the while being totally oblivious to any advances she makes, even going as far as to get dressed up for a wedding to her (which he wound up running out on when he sensed an Undead attacking nearby). He did, however, remain perfectly willing to knock the snot out of anyone who dared to hassle him; it turned out that the takoyaki seller had made a few enemies that received an unpleasant surprise. It can also be assumed that the amnesia contributed to his not trying to get back home, as he couldn’t remember where home was and was hanging around in part just because it was a place to stay.

In a fight, Hajime ideally prefers to work in a more tactical manner. This is in direct contrast with the nature of his true form, a mindless destroyer. He is also not above using others in a fight in order to meet his goals. For example, when he first encounters Kamen Rider Blade, they’re both fighting a common enemy. He is perfectly content to let Blade do most of the fighting (and take most of the damage) as he watches the Undead they’re fighting, choosing not to strike until he has identified its weak spot. However, once he has decided to strike, it’s all too easy for him to get caught up in the heat of battle. Once he’s in the thick of things, he will let nothing stop him until the battle is completed. In this case, he doesn’t care about collateral damage or the fact that innocent bystanders are in danger. When Blade presses the issue, Hajime claims it’s the only way he knows. He does try to restrain himself, but it’s easier to let himself go and worry about damages later.

Hajime despises his true form, that of the Joker Undead. In this form, he will isolate himself from anyone he cares about…if he’s able to control himself for that long. He can generally feel the change coming on, and he will move to isolate himself in that case. This isn’t always possible, particularly if his cards have been taken away. He’s rampaged in the city before, and he’s hated himself for it, especially given that he couldn’t recognize anyone he cared about in his desire for battle. He even came very close to attacking Amane, which was a sign as to just how bad things had gotten.

However, now that he has some form of control over himself when he’s like this thanks to his possession of the Evolution card (even if it’s not good for him to stick around in the Joker form for too long), he is not above using his Joker form, willingly taking it if the situation calls for it. In one instance, he and the other Riders were being menaced by a fused Undead that had the ability to turn invisible and mimic the appearances of others. This Undead was causing the Riders to attack each other, and since it was two Undead in one, it was unusually strong. Hajime knew that as the Joker, the Undead would prioritize killing him over anything else if given an easy opportunity, so he faked an uncontrollable transformation into the Joker, successfully drawing the Undead out so that he and the other Riders could defeat it. As soon as it was out in the open and ripe for attack, he became Chalice in order to defeat it. He won’t actually use the Joker’s raw power in a fight, as it is just that distasteful to him (and runs the risk of losing control).

Abilities: Hajime possesses the ability to sense sources of power; in his universe, that would be other Undead and Riders. In this universe, that would likely mean he’d be able to tell if anyone had any special powers or whatnot, although he wouldn’t be able to sense much beyond relative power levels. Hanging out around someone with particularly strong energy would run the risk of him making an involuntary transformation into the Joker.

Hajime’s true form is that of the Joker Undead. At the moment, he’s got that pretty much under control, but take his cards away (or have that power return before he gets his cards and Rouzer back), and he’s going to be fighting to remain in human form. As the Joker Undead, he’s able to shrug off most attacks and retaliate with some heavy ones of his own. In his Joker form, he’s armed with two short curved blades that can be charged with green energy, which can be fired at an enemy. In this state, Hajime pretty much loses all reason (depending on the circumstances, this is not always immediate) and become consumed with the desire for battle. In a worst-case scenario, he will not be able to tell friend from foe. Suppressing his Joker instincts in his natural form requires a huge act of will, especially if he is not in possession of the proper Rouze Cards.

As an Undead, Hajime cannot die. He has tried to kill himself in an attempt to prevent himself from ending the world, and nothing happened. (At least in TV series canon, which is what I am drawing from; the alternate movieverse is another story entirely.) He can, however, be sealed away into a Rouze Card for thousands of years before some idiot releases him. He would prefer not to have that happen. Also related to being an Undead, his blood is not red, but rather, it is a whitish green color, even when he’s in his human form.

Hajime’s primary method of fighting is to transform into Kamen Rider Chalice. To do this, he requires these items:
- Rouze Cards: These cards contain other sealed Undead. In order to transform into Chalice, he must have the card containing the Mantis Undead, the Ace of Hearts. Transforming back into his human form requires the Human Undead, the Two of Hearts. The Mantis Undead’s fighting spirit and the Human Undead’s compassion also serve to keep Hajime’s Joker instincts in check.Hajime’s other Rouze Cards contain other sealed Undead. He possesses all of the Undead from the Suit of Hearts. He can transform into any of these Undead, but as they are much weaker than the Mantis Undead, there is no point in him doing so, and the only time he will do this is if he is separated from the Mantis Undead’s card and needs something with more firepower than his human form. What he does use these other Undead cards for is to power up his attacks.
- Chalice Rouzer: This is a card-swiping device. When mounted on his belt, the Rouzer will allow Hajime to take the form of any Undead card he swipes. The Rouzer can be removed from the belt and mounted in Chalice’s bow, at which point any swiped cards will merely lend powers and abilities without causing a transformation.
- Chalice Arrow: Chalice carries a bow (that manifests upon transforming) that he is just as likely to use as a melee weapon as he is a ranged weapon. The bow has no string, and it only becomes a ranged weapon when he attaches his Rouzer to the bow and powers it up with Rouze Cards.
- Motorcycle: Chalice possesses a motorcycle that is compatible with the Rouzer. When he attaches his Rouzer to the motorcycle, it can use the power of the Rouze Cards to launch attacks.
- Evolution Paradoxica: This card, the King of Hearts, allows Chalice to harness the powers of all his sealed Undead at once, and he becomes Wild Chalice. This form is more powerful than regular Chalice, and it comes with the ability to fuse all of his Rouze Cards into the Wild Card, allowing him to harness the power of all of his sealed Undead for a single finishing attack. This card also serves to help keep the power of the Joker under control after events in the series make the Human and Mantis Undead cards ineffective. Since it’s his midseries power-up, I listed it differently from the other Rouze cards.

When Hajime is transformed into Chalice, any damage he takes will transfer over to his human form. He heals faster than a normal human would, but it is not outside the realm of possibility for him to get injured badly enough to take him out of commission for a couple of days.

Sample Entry:

[Hajime has decided that he should lay low for a while as he gets a measure of who all he can trust…or at least make use of in his quest to figure out what’s going on here. Unfortunately for him, laying low involves maintaining the house in which he’s found himself so as not to attract any unwanted attention. Which means yard work. After doing a rather horrible job of butchering—or, as he put it, “trimming”—the hedges, Hajime has been standing in his front yard for the past ten minutes, trying to get his lawnmower running. He’s never had to do anything remotely like this before in his life. After yanking on the cord has done nothing, he’s got the thing turned upside down and is checking to see if something is jammed up in there. He clearly has no idea what he’s doing. A drone approaches, and Hajime is so focused on his attempts to fix the lawnmower he fails to notice.]

Howdy, neighbor! Lawnmower giving you trouble?

[Hajime jumps slightly; he’s used to having senses that would alert him to the drone’s presence long before this. Unfortunately for him, he was fooling with the blades at that moment, and now one of his hands is now bleeding from where he jerked against it. It’s not a bad wound by any means, but it does hurt some. As he clutches his bleeding hand with his good hand, he is still disturbed by the fact that his blood is now red and not whitish-green. He turns to glare at the drone like he’s seriously contemplating using the lawnmower on it. It’s for the best he no longer has the hedge trimmers handy.]

No, it’s working perfectly fine. I am perfectly capable of “tuning up” this absurd machine. This is merely an act of preventative maintenance. I need no help.

[He grits his teeth and still looks very much like he is resisting the urge to commit some act of violence against the drone. The way he is eyeing the lawnmower blades and the screwdriver he was using confirms this. He is mentally reminding himself that he is trying to lay low, which means not pummeling the drone. The drone doesn’t seem to take the hint.]

You sure? You look like you’re having an awful lot of problems there!

[Hajime’s non-injured hand clenches into a fist.]

Really, it’s working perfectly fine. I do not require your assistance.

[An idea occurs to him and he points across the street at a random house.]

You know, over there, he was having a whole lot of trouble with his lawnmower not that long ago. He gave up and went inside. I bet he’d really appreciate your help.

So much more than I would. Since my lawnmower is working perfectly. And I do not require assistance. Of any kind. Ever. For all time.

[Hajime is looking twitchy now; if the drone doesn’t leave, things will get messy.]

You don’t say? Well, I guess I should go over there, then. Take care!

[The drone wanders across the street, leaving Hajime free to go back inside and grab a bandage for his hand, giving one last glare to the still-broken lawnmower as he does so. He’s a little ashamed of himself for outwitting a drone, which isn’t exactly hard, instead of giving it the beating it deserved. He’s rather hoping no one else has witnessed any of this, particularly his Walk of Shame to get the bandage. Unfortunately for his pride, he bumps into a housemate. He immediately moves to hide his injured hand.]

And I would just like to confirm that this is indeed my profile and thank Rikimaru for helping me out there. ^^;;
