Applications

• Please read over all the rules and information before applying in order to minimize any confusion before joining.

• If applying for a character that has already been dropped, it would be a good idea, though not required, to know something of their previous interactions. You are also free to pick up a dropped character with no memories of their previous time in Mayfield.

• All content for the personality and sample entry in your app must be written or roleplayed by you; for the personality section in particular, we do not accept copied text from wikis or other sources. Obviously, you may not copy your app from other players, whether in Mayfield or other games. Application plagiarism will result in a ban from the game.

• If you wish for your character to be placed in a specific house, please mention this in the relevant section of the application and specify that permission was obtained by the PCs already residing in that house. We will be operating by the Honor System for this, and there is no need for others to comment their permission in this post!

• Other special requests would also best go in the beginning of the application. Remember, grammar and spelling are important -- if your app contains errors, you will be asked to revise.

• Please post all applications or canon updates in this post; posting them elsewhere and linking to them from here may cause them to get changed later. Posting them here keeps us from having to save them.

When Applying, Fill Out the Following:

When Applying for an Original Character, Fill Out the Following

• Before applying, please look over any applications that were recently accepted to get an idea of what we're looking for.

• If you apply for a character that has already been reserved, we will inform you and ignore the application until the reserve runs out. You may not apply for more than two characters from the same canon. For the sample entry, you may write your own entry, or use a post from a musebox, dressing room, or other game. We recommend [community profile] testrun_box if you prefer the latter!

• After you're accepted, please follow all of the instructions given. You will need to reply to the acceptance, post your journal to the friend add page and your canon post, join the communities, and use the friend add page to update your journal. Once you're accepted, please introduce yourself on the community when you're ready to play.

• If your app is "Pending", do not freak out! This means that we need you to make some revisions, and does not mean you're rejected. We generally give players a chance to revise before rejecting them, but we will reject apps that do not address the concerns stated when we asked for a revision. If you have been rejected, our reply will clearly state this to be the case. If we have not gotten back to you yet, under no circumstance does this mean you are rejected. If it has been over a week since our last reply, it would be a good idea to contact us with a reminder, otherwise, please be patient!

• If you have received a "Pending" notice, you will have one week to supply us with your revisions, or your reserve will be considered expired and that someone else is free to apply for the character.

• The typical wait for a reply on apps may be anywhere from a day to a little over a week. If any part of your application requires a pending, it may be another week after your reply to that before we can get to you. We process a high volume of apps every round, so please be patient.

If you have not heard back on a pending for over a week after apps close, please send a PM directly to the mod account.

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.

Please not there are some triggers in the background/personality section!

Background:
In the Age of the Gods, Rider lived as the Greek monster of legend, Medusa. Rider and her sisters, Stheno and Euryale, were born from the wishes of humans to contrast the flaws of the native gods and goddesses. It was soon revealed however, that Rider was mortal, while her sisters stayed forever young. From a young age, Stheno and Euryale relentlessly bullied Rider, both mentally and physically. However, most of this was in her imagination. Her sisters did truly love her, and in reality, they were only teasing her.

When Rider and her sisters were exiled to the Shapeless Isle when Athena became jealous of their beauty, Rider slowly morphed into the monster she is well-known as. Thus, her mental state deteriorated and she grew ruthless in slaying the men that came to visit her and her sisters. Rider, after devouring her sisters and becoming a legendary monster, was eventually decapitated by Perseus, and deeply regretted her actions in life.

Now, the Holy Grail war is a whole different ballpark. In essence, it is a fight-to-the-death battle amongst spirits and their human summoners, to win the ultimate artifact--the Holy Grail itself, which is said to be able to grant any wish. These spirits all have some type of notoriety, being "Heroic Spirits", and depending on their skills in life, are sorted into one of seven classes: Saber, Lancer, Archer, Caster, Rider, Berserker, and Assassin.

Rider ascended and became a Heroic Spirit, and thousands of years later, in the present day, she was summoned by Sakura Matou for participation in the Fifth Holy Grail War. Only, Sakura did not want to fight. So the Book of False Command was constructed to give Shinji, Sakura's brother, control over Rider through one of Sakura's command spells. Shinji frequently abused both Rider and Sakura verbally and sexually, though Rider stood tall through it. She tried to protect Sakura, but she could not do much while under Shinji's command.

At the start of the Heaven's Feel route, the protagonist, Shirou Emiya, decides to go and scout out the park with his own Servant, Saber. They spot Rider killing a civilian, drinking their blood to get mana (which Shinji can't give her). Saber quickly defeats Rider in the latter's weakened state, and Rider starts to disappear from the war. Shinji, however, orders Sakura to use her second command spell to re-summon Rider, which she does. When True Assassin attacks Saber and Shirou, Sakura orders Rider to sneak out and protect them. She cannot help Saber, who gets swallowed up by True Assassin's darkness, but she manages to save Shirou.

Sakura begins staying at Shirou's house when a mysterious killer begins prowling the streets of Fuyuki City, and this greatly upsets Shinji. Shinji kidnaps Sakura and tells Shirou to come to the school, lest he murder her. Shirou oblidges, and Shinji orders Rider to beat up Shirou without killing him. Noticeably, Rider holds back from damaging anything important. Shinji grows tired of this, however, and orders Rider to kill Shirou. Rider hesitates, and Rin and her Servant, Archer burst in and let Shirou grab Sakura. Rider reveals that Sakura is her Master, and that from this point on, she would not obey Shinji any longer. Shinji's book goes up in flames, and he tries to attack Sakura only to be repeatedly thwarted by Rider. Shinji tries to flee, but not before activating a strange earring placed upon Sakura. A boundary field activates around the building, and Sakura goes berserk. Archer suggests killing Sakura, but Rider defends her, and removes her blindfold. Her identity is revealed, and Shirou decides that the best course of action is to flee with Rin and Archer.

A while later, after Sakura is stabilized, she and Rider begin living with Shirou. Rider is initially distrustful of him, but as his dedication and love become apparent, she warms up to him. Eventually, though, Sakura begins to succumb to her dark urges. In a fit of rage, when Shinji threatens to blackmail her, Sakura murders him and is consumed by her own dark side. Dark Sakura attempts to murder Rin, but Shirou and Ilya (another participant in the Grail War, the Master of Berserker) intervene. Sakura agrees to let Shirou and Rin go, but in exchange, Ilya must come with her. Ilya agrees, and Rider escorts Rin and Shirou to the Kotomine Church, the "safe house" during the war.

After a rocky patch, Rider and Shirou formally become allies. The two of them plus Rin head to the cave where the Holy Grail is being prepared. Rin fights with Sakura, and Rider and Shirou are forced to fight against Saber, who is under the influence of True Assassin still. Rider breaks out Bellerophon, and Shirou backs her up with a projected Rho Aias. Together, they break through Saber's Excalibur, and Shirou frees her from True Assassin's darkness--unfortunately with a killing blow.

Shirou and Ilya eventually destroy the Holy Grail, with the latter sacrificing herself. After the War is formally over, and Sakura is freed from her servitude to both the Matou family and the Holy Grail itself, she begins living with Shirou once more. Rider stays as Sakura's Servant out of emotional loyalty, and the three of them have a peaceful life.
