Character Name: Names, nicknames, whatever is applicable. In western order, please. If the character has no last name (adult males especially), you are free to either make one up or let us do it. Character Series: Jenny Sparks Character Age: 100 (To the day) Background: Jenny Sparks was born on January 1, 1900 to a rich family in England. As a girl she was sent to an all girl’s family in Vienna, but was quickly removed from the school when her family died in 1912 while aboard the Titanic and her family’s nemesis stole her fortune. Her godfather Albert Einstein took her in and offered to finish her education in Zurich Switzerland. Before she left Vienna however, she befriended a young struggling German painter named Adolf Hitler and encouraged him to quit painting and take up politics. At the age of thirteen Jenny started to be able to control electricity. As Jenny aged her abilities increased, and by 1919 Jenny stopped aging. In Jenny’s own words the thirties were a period of scientific romance. This time period held the first discovery of The Bleed and parallel worlds. The most significant to the era was Sliding Albion. Sliding Albion was an alternate Earth where aliens and humans had met and inter-bread during the early Renaissance.
During Jenny’s time in Sliding Albion she and the British of her world entered into a plan to assist Albion’s prince Lorenzo in overthrowing his father’s reign of terror. To do this Jenny married Lorenzo, causing a hostile takeover in Albion. Unfortunately Lorenzo was only using Jenny and the British to overtake his father’s rule due to the belief that his father was too soft. Upon leaving Sliding Albion Jenny was shot by a false Albert Einstein. The only reason she didn’t die was because Angela Spica went back in time to save her life upon the request of Jenny herself from the future.
Jenny continued in the military under the rank of Colonel. She continued to work with other superbeings to make the world a better place, but every time things fell apart in horrible ways. During this era Jenny became close friends with a reporter named Clarence Cornwall.
The early thirties saw Jenny moving to America where she became a sort of private detective. During this era she became the girlfriend of Henry Jones Jr, also known as Indiana Jones. She also became friends with an alien who was raised on Earth known as ‘The High’. At the end of the 1930’s Jenny met Elijah Snow and had a one night stand with the man that both of them agreed to forget ever happened.
During World War II Jenny continued to work as an operative for the British operative. One of her tasks was to retrieve an egg which the Nazi’s recovered from Tibet that was supposed to open and bring about a new age of peace. Inside this egg was a winged woman. The Nazis had planned to eat the egg. Unfortunately for Jenny she was captured with the egg and they planned to dissect her. Surprisingly she was rescued by Adolf Hitler himself who remembered her from when he was still a struggling artist and ordered his men to return the egg to her and set her free, ensuring her safe return to England.
As time continued Jenny returned to America. The world had become more of a hardened place, taking her with it. Her feelings on the era began to decent into a downward spiral of depression as she saw many of the things she believed in rapidly falling apart and mankind’s belief in superbeings turn to hatred and prejudice. She watched as so many people of the era turned to darker hatreds and prejudices. The most prominent of these being Clarence, her old reporter friend. She dispensed her own justice by electrocuting him after he burned down an orphanage which was filled with black children. As things got worse Jenny turned more heavily to drinking. At this time she again met with The High who was planning on removing himself from the world in order to think of a way to change the world. She tried to convince him to return to England with her, but he refused, choosing instead to isolate himself from the world.
In the 1950’s Jenny got further involved in the British government and their ties to Shifting Albion. The parties were decadent and under so much secrecy and red tape that the citizens had no clue what was going on. This was a time of cross-dimensional politics and exploration. A time of sharing of ideas and, to a point, peace. That is until Sliding Albion declared war on the rest of it’s world three years into the 1950’s. The war quickly turned to biochemical warfare which Sliding Albion, in an attempt to save itself, vented into Jenny’s world. The bacterial fallout landed in Brittan, but was altered as it was pushed through the Bleed. This was one of the causes of many of the superheros in Jenny’s universe.
The sixties saw Jenny trying to return to her roots and her desires to make the world a better place. She joined together with many other superbeings in order to assist in the first large scale gathering of both superbeings and normal humans. It was like a superbeing Woodstock. This meeting of peace quickly turned tragic when one of her colleagues, Able Eternity, overdosed on a drug in order to prove himself to a group of druggie humans. The drug forced Able to go into a homicidal rage which killed many. Jenny was the only one who could stop him and was forced to electrocute him. Jenny ‘went to bed’ for the next two years and didn’t emerge until 1982.
Jenny was brought back in 1976 however by CCCP in order to lead a group of superbeings against a, well, it looked like a giant mecca Kansas City that was trying to destroy the world (particularly Tokyo). While everyone else failed to make a dent in the thing Jack Hawksmore turned the city of Tokyo into another giant mecca and won the battle.
Jenny tried again in the eighties to form a group that could change the world for the better. She thought she had things going well until she discovered that one of her men was kidnapping babies and using their body parts in order to create a dead baby-parts baby for his mentally unhinged wife. The other men in her group were aware of it and she immediately disbanded the group, threatening to kill any of them that she saw again on the spot.
Jenny stayed off the grid until about 1992 when she happened to be in a nearby cafe and saw something strange out the window. Following the car that she saw she ended up assisting in saving Apollo and Midnighter from a surprise ambush.
A few years later she came to the attention of Henry Bendix. The man asked her to join Stormwatch. He wanted to change the world. Initially she refused to join, but was persuaded by Henry’s seeming genuine common desire. She warned him that she would kill him if he wavered though. Bendix placed her in charge of Stormwatch Black, a team that was specifically built for covert insertion and intelligence gathering. On her team was Swift and Jack Hawksmore. The three became very close in their time in Stormwatch Black.
Soon, however, Jenny realized that Henry Bendix had gone insane and didn’t want to change the world, he wanted to rule it. His actions and desires went against everything that Jenny stood for, as did the fact that he was attempting to destroy her old friend The High and his group who were trying to make the world a better place (thought not exactly through the right means). Jenny’s hand was forced, and she attempted to kill Bendix as he was escaping on a telaport from Skywatch. Afterwards, consumed by grief, The High flew straight at Skywatch in an attempt to destroy it. Jenny had no choice but to save the lives of the three hundred people on the platform by putting up the Storm doors. The High hit the doors at full velocity and was vaporized instantly. Jenny was devastated. Jenny was later able to track down Bendix and kill him (as far as she knew).
Jenny continued as the leader of Stormwatch Black, but this time under the leadership of her friend Jackson King and under so much secrecy that no one was ever really certain of their existence.
At this time America decided to play war games in their own states, choosing to black out an entire area so that no one would know while they tested genetically altered super soldiers. When Jackson King sent Stormwatch Black in to investigate they reported their findings back and with the help of the other Stormwatch units, they stopped the biochemical war games from occurring.
Shortly after this event Stormwatch was invaded and destroyed by an alien species. Without the money to back it, the organization was not able to reassemble itself, leaving a gaping hole in the protection of the world that Jenny could do nothing but to fill with her own super team. So was born The Authority.
As the leader of The Authority Jenny formed a strong and cohesive group. The first three were herself and the other members of Stormwatch Black. Added to it was a woman who the Engineer sent all of his information to, The Midnighter and his partner Apollo, and finally The new Doctor.
As the Authority, their first assignment was to stop a ruthless dictator who was trying to make his mark (literally) on the face of the world. The Authority used Stormwatch’s old Weatherman, Jackson King and his girlfriend Christine to get intelligence on the situation and quickly dispatched the dictator and his genetically enhanced army.
The next threat came in the form of an attack from Sliding Albion. The destroyed universe wasn’t as destroyed as they had thought it was, it was in ruins however. The leaders of Sliding Albion had decided that they would invade and take over the same Earth that they had once had relations with. During this time Jenny revealed the horrible truth about Sliding Albion and what they had done to the rest of it’s own world. Sliding Albion had turned the rest of it’s world into rape camps and was planning on doing this to their Earth as well. The Authority took the battle directly to the source and attacked the heads of Sliding Albion where they lived. This plan proved to be the right course of action as Sliding Albion was stopped from attacking Earth and Jenny had The Doctor destroy Sliding Albion’s Italy forever.
Jenny’s final mission came two days before the turn of the century in the form of an ‘alien’ attack on the Earth. The Alien turned out to be the creature that created the Earth in order for it to have a place for it to retire to when it had finished. Upon returning it discovered that the world it had created for itself had changed and been infested with humanity. Jenny had The Engineer and Swift to pilot The Carrier into the God creature’s veins. She instructed her to move toward the brain of the creature so that she could shock it to death. Just moments before the turn of the century and Jenny’s death they reached the brain of the creature and Jenny was able to destroy the creature by shocking it’s brain center. In the final moments of the end of the year Jenny died after saving the Earth and humanity from being destroyed.
Personality:Jenny is best described as a bitch with a good heart. She wants to change the world and to make it a better place, however she’s not above breaking a few heads to get there. In fact, sometimes she feels that’s what needs to be done. She’s got a good, but perhaps slightly warped sense of humor and is a strong and natural leader. Every group that she’s been involved in she’s eventually had to take charge of in one way or another.
Contrary to her hard and rather abrasive exterior Jenny is a kind and sensitive person. She’s easily hurt by those she trusts and she easily trusts even though she claims that she doesn’t. She wants to believe that there’s good in all people, that the world is worth saving, but there are days and even years that she wonders what the point is. Jenny is also a charmer. She states herself that there isn’t a single man she’s met that she can’t wrap around her finger. Jenny enjoys a good flirt every now and again but is easily able to turn anything into all business as soon as it needs to be that way. As for her drinking and smoking, there is room to call Jenny a recovering alcoholic. For many years (decades even) she refused to even leave bed without a drink in her hand. When Jenny has something to fight for though her drinking lessons. Jenny smokes probably around a carton a day. She’s almost constantly found with a cigarette in her hand.
By the time of her death, Jenny's faith in their ability to make the world a better place became renewed. Her drinking has lessened and she’s found a reason to believe in the world again. The Authority is her family and she will do anything to protect it.
Abilities: First and foremost Jenny is immortal. Or she was until January 1, 2000, which was the day she died. Jenny stopped aging at the age of nineteen, so she looks as if she’s in her twenties throughout her time alive.
Jenny possess the ability to produce electricity, or electrokinesis, as long as there's some form of an electrical charge nearby (This includes the firing synapses in the human brain waves).
Among this label is electric absorption, or the ability to manipulate electricity. (She’s been known to threaten to kill people with this ability.)
The ability to travel as electricity through things and arrive in her human form at the other end. She’s also been able to use electricity to project herself into the sky and briefly into a person to electrocute them. This can also be called electric teleportation.
Finally, Jenny has accelerated healing.
To the date of her cannon point she is the most powerful of all her predecessors. Jenny’s ability to control electricity is absolute.
Sample Entry: [1] It doesn't take long for Jenny to assess the situation. There's a bed which she awoke on, a wall of pictures of people she's never known, and a decor that looks like someone threw up orange and pink. Clearly she's been kidnapped.
In the face of this sort of situation any lesser person would panic, maybe make a phone call with that cute little orange rotary phone over there. Jenny isn't a lesser person though, and going for the phone would be a stupid idea when it comes to being kidnapped. Instead she continues to asses the room. The first thing she notices is that there's no rubber. Whoever these assholes are didn't know about her abilities with electricity. That'll be a strong advantage when she sees them.
Pushing off the bed she moves to the pictures filled with stranges. It doesn't take long for her to realize that she's in them. The smile almost looks unnatural on her own face after years of scowels.
"Oh hell, is that a ..."
She cuts herself off as she looks at one picture in particular. It her and a man dressed in wedding attire. She has never been married to this man. Jenny Sparks knows every damn man she's ever been married to and this man was not one of them. No, the time for anazlying things is over. She needs to find out what the hell these people did to her and why. She's going downstairs to get answers. Even if she has to beat the hell out of someone to get them. She might just start with that bloke from the picture.
[2] [Right, after finding no one in the house she finally decides to pick up the phone. No ringtine, but that's alright. She's heard enough around to understand what the hell is going on with the phone system.]
My name is Jenny Sparks and I need to talk to anyone with information on this hellhole right now. Especially if they know how I got here and what this place is. Best guess is that this place is American made, but I'm supposed to be dead right now so that should have put a damper on any kidnapping attempts.
[She lets out a heavy sigh as she pauses. This thing probably works like a walkie talkie instead of an actual phone. Cutting off any ability to contact the outside. Which means if she waits long enough someone will give her an answer. Except Jenny's not a patient woman most of the time.]
Hell, I'll even take someone telling where the hell the nearest bar is right now.
