Applications

• Please read over all the rules and information before applying in order to minimize any confusion before joining.

• If applying for a character that has already been dropped, it would be a good idea, though not required, to know something of their previous interactions. You are also free to pick up a dropped character with no memories of their previous time in Mayfield.

• All content for the personality and sample entry in your app must be written or roleplayed by you; for the personality section in particular, we do not accept copied text from wikis or other sources. Obviously, you may not copy your app from other players, whether in Mayfield or other games. Application plagiarism will result in a ban from the game.

• If you wish for your character to be placed in a specific house, please mention this in the relevant section of the application and specify that permission was obtained by the PCs already residing in that house. We will be operating by the Honor System for this, and there is no need for others to comment their permission in this post!

• Other special requests would also best go in the beginning of the application. Remember, grammar and spelling are important -- if your app contains errors, you will be asked to revise.

• Please post all applications or canon updates in this post; posting them elsewhere and linking to them from here may cause them to get changed later. Posting them here keeps us from having to save them.

When Applying, Fill Out the Following:

When Applying for an Original Character, Fill Out the Following

• Before applying, please look over any applications that were recently accepted to get an idea of what we're looking for.

• If you apply for a character that has already been reserved, we will inform you and ignore the application until the reserve runs out. You may not apply for more than two characters from the same canon. For the sample entry, you may write your own entry, or use a post from a musebox, dressing room, or other game. We recommend [community profile] testrun_box if you prefer the latter!

• After you're accepted, please follow all of the instructions given. You will need to reply to the acceptance, post your journal to the friend add page and your canon post, join the communities, and use the friend add page to update your journal. Once you're accepted, please introduce yourself on the community when you're ready to play.

• If your app is "Pending", do not freak out! This means that we need you to make some revisions, and does not mean you're rejected. We generally give players a chance to revise before rejecting them, but we will reject apps that do not address the concerns stated when we asked for a revision. If you have been rejected, our reply will clearly state this to be the case. If we have not gotten back to you yet, under no circumstance does this mean you are rejected. If it has been over a week since our last reply, it would be a good idea to contact us with a reminder, otherwise, please be patient!

• If you have received a "Pending" notice, you will have one week to supply us with your revisions, or your reserve will be considered expired and that someone else is free to apply for the character.

• The typical wait for a reply on apps may be anywhere from a day to a little over a week. If any part of your application requires a pending, it may be another week after your reply to that before we can get to you. We process a high volume of apps every round, so please be patient.

If you have not heard back on a pending for over a week after apps close, please send a PM directly to the mod account.

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.

Background:
Pre-Drifters history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butch_Cassidy (most likely, if the artist let him keep his real persona's history as the characters with known back-story's do. Headcanon is a lot like the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.)

Butch arrive into the world pre-canon, alongside his friend the Sundance Kid. He is the leader of the Wild Buch (Hole in the Wall Gang) of which Kid is also part of.
He is first seen at the North Wall of Carneades, which is the Frontier fortress of North Carneades.
He and Kid watch Scipio, Hannibal, the Octobrist's and the Carneade soldiers fight. Neither of them really get what's going on, or what the fuss is about.

He is present when the Black King arrive to attack, and he and Kid bring along Scipio, Hannibal and Seimei to get away from the battlefield, because according to Seimei, they can't afford to lose the Drifters.

They fight their way through, and it's very close that he was fried by a dragon. It was only the fact that Kanno Naoshi shot down the dragon just in time that saved him.

While they were heading towards the location of Toyohisa, Nobunaga and Yoichi, Kid and Butch opened way for them while they were fleeing from the enamies. Buring this, they lost Scipio, who fell off the carriage.

When Yoichi was being suffocated by Gille de Rais, Kid and Butch appears. While they don't get what's going on, Kid, encouraged by Seimei, shoot Gille to pieces.

They show and demonstrate their guns to Nobunaga, who is very interested in the weapons. Butch don't really get why Nobunaga get so excited when they show him their gatling gun, nor all his monologue about ''could have done things that way instead of that'' but he think it's awesome that they are making gunpowder.

When Toyohisa's group is going to free the dwarves, he give one of his guns to Nobunaga, and ask him to keep some bullets for him ans Kid, once they have managed to create bullets.

Butch Cassidy | Drifters | Part 3 | Reserved

Personality:
Butch is a very cocky person. He believe himself a lot, and believe in his ideas – even when they happen to be really stupid. He is confident with himself, and don't often regret what he does. Some would even call him full of himself, but he wouldn't agree. He live in today and not in the future, after all. Because he believe that the Wild Bunch only has a present, and no future, he don't hesitate taking chances. He has lived a dangerous life for many years as a cowboy and bandit. He don't care what happens to him, if he get killed by a bullet or a few, if he get swallowed by a dragon (although that wasn't really on the list before he came to the Drifter world) or if he die of tobacco poisoning.
He's quick to action, again, due to no bars up to stop him from acting without thinking. He's rushed, but he's also planned. Because at the same time as he can be a big idiot, he's also intelligent. Not concerning everything – far from – but he's still knowledgeable about a lot of different – often useless – things.

Butch is an impulsive man, always making things without planning before acting. Because living on the edge make him feel the thrill of living. And now that he's not in America robbing trains anymore, he need something else to give him the thrill. The fights in the Drift world make him enjoy himself quite a lot. He is not afraid of much, and not really of dying. While he don't exactly want to die, he want to live a life with any regrets. His way of acting without thinking can also make him a bit rude or brash, but it's not really like he always mean it. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't; in those cases, it just happens. Not that he very often regret what he says, though.

He is a pretty happy person at the same time, and he really enjoy meeting new interesting people. He can be pretty innocent at times, too. Especially when he's enjoying something he find really fun.
He enjoy guns, smokes, drinking and robbing trains. He wish he could smoke as much as he wanted until he drops, and he absolutely love guns. He can be simple-minded and pure-hearted, however much possible that is for one of the cowboys that once ruled the Wild West.

As stated above, Butch is a smoker, and states that he would kill for a smoke. If he really would (since Kid actually have two cigarettes that he refuse to give to Butch) is another question. If it was someone else that hid them from him, he might do just that. This shows that he also can be a bit unstable, but it's not a very big problem most of the times. Only at times where he really would need to focus but just can't because he's craving a smoke.

Not much anything is a problem to him, even if – for example – the Sundance Kid wouldn't agree with him. He take everything as it comes, even running out of ammunition in a world where guns isn't yet invented. Then again, Nobunaga is working on producing those things, which he find really cool.

Now if only he could at least smoke to his hearts content...

Abilities: One hell of a gunner. He's great with them. Not super, but still great.
Sample Entry:

Why can't I find any smokes in this house. Don't people smoke here? I need a smoke, damnit! If I can't have a smoke soon, I'll go fucking crazy! Kid, did you take 'em? I know you have some, so just give me!

Moreover, where the hell is this? I liked that world with the dragons and shit much better than this sunny thing. And Bolivia was much better too – you know, even riding for days non-stop through the desert is better than what this looks like.

Aaaah, this's just plain weird again! Does weird things always have to happen? It's often interesting, but this is just plain boring. C'mon, just bring me back to that weird action world, it was really interesting! A lot of things happened there! ...this place, on the other hand, seem to be really slow-paced... Come on, Corridor Guy! I don't like ya or anything but c'mon this is mean, I was getting used to that place!
