We generally give players a chance to revise before rejecting them, but we will reject apps that do not address the concerns stated when we asked for a revision. If you have been rejected, our reply will clearly state this to be the case. If we have not gotten back to you yet, under no circumstance does this mean you are rejected. If it has been over a week since our last reply, it would be a good idea to contact us with a reminder, otherwise, please be patient!
• If you have received a "Pending" notice, you will have one week to supply us with your revisions, or your reserve will be considered expired and that someone else is free to apply for the character.

Character Name: Korra Character Series: The Legend of Korra Character Age: 17 Background: avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Korra Personality: For starters, Korra is extremely hot-headed. Rather than talking out differences and solving problems peacefully, Korra is usually the first to send a fist of fire at some one she dislikes. She hates authority, is often breaking the rules, and is always causing a fuss. Against the authority of her tribe, Korra ran away from home to receive training that had been delayed in order to master her bending sooner. It shows that she is impatient and if it comes to it, she'll go to the fight rather than wait for it to come to her. She has, on multiple occasions, gotten in trouble with the law. After being arrested for breaking up a fight with petty gang members, Korra still had the gull to back-talk to the chief of police.
Though for all of her faults in anger and quick-to-leap-into-trouble syndrome, Korra is rather grounded. She deals with the knowledge that she is the Avatar, a being which has been reincarnated time and time again in order to bring balance to the world, as if it were a simple thing. Either due to the fact that she likes to show off, or that she hasn't had much time to sit and dwell on it, she has countless times risen to the call of her title and has done a "decent" job of serving the public. Very rarely does Korra become worried or concerned with troubles that face her. Rather than spend time moping about it, Korra usually plows right into her problems with a "sort it out once it's over" mentality.
Korra is rather butch for being a young girl. She doesn't wear the typical attire a woman would wear, nor does she practice the manners of a young lady. She'd rather be bending, running around and getting into trouble, and also competing in belching contests with her team mate Bo-Lin. Even with this appearance, Korra is still a girl at heart. She secretly pines over her other team mate, Mako, whom she has had conflicted trysts with. Deep down she wishes to win his affections, but duty and sportsmanship have become higher priorities on her list these days. When speaking of love, Korra goes from her rugged demeanor to a soft and more gentle personality. Behind that thick skin is a girl in love.
Thus far in Korra's story, she has only broken down once. With the fear that her new enemy poses, Korra has become a bit more on edge, showing that even her tough girl persona can unfortunately be cracked by the danger of losing not just her powers, but her identity as the Avatar. When confronted and disabled by Amann (the leader of a radical group called The Equalists). Korra was living in a constant state of fear and dread. Nothing is more frightening than losing the ability to bend, in Korra's eyes. Though through this danger, with the help of her friends, Korra has been able to regain herself and keep her cool. She has become honest with herself, and her fear, in order to control her emotions and stand all when the call is made. Through this dilemma, Korra shows her progression of what is most important to herself and what she fears most. Bending was the most important thing in her life, until she realized that the safety of her friends and the people of the world are what matter most.
Abilities: As the Avatar, Korra has the unique ability to master all four elements, rendering her the most powerful bender in the world. Furthermore, since she was young, Korra has always had a remarkable affinity for the physical aspect of bending, though she struggles with its spiritual aspects. Full list of abilities can be found here under the "Abilities" portion. Sample Entry: [Prom was approaching. The time when young couples got their chance to dance and share feelings with one another on the gymnasium floor. It wasn't as if Korra had never danced before, but the thought of getting close to a guy like that didn't particularly sit well with her. Nevertheless, she had to swallow her pride less she be pointed at and called a "tom boy" again. Entering the kitchen, she approached her NotMother with some questions.]
"Hey Miss-Uh-I mean-Mom..? Can.. Can I ask you some thing?"
Why sure you can, sweetheart! What is it that you're wondering?
"Man, I can't believe I'm talking to her like this.. AHEM. Uh, so.. How.. How do you ask some one.. To.. Ya' know.. A DANCE</>?"
A dance? Well, you shouldn't ask some one to the dance, dear. A boy must ask you.
"A boy's gotta' ask me? Well.. Uhh.. Let's say that no boy is going to ask you BUT you've still gotta' go 'cause you don't wanna' be the only girl in school to not have a date and get laughed at?"
If you cannot find a date, dear Korra, than I suppose you shouldn't go. A girl like you would have trouble finding a suitable date now, wouldn't she?
"Wah-?!" [Korra clenches her fists, her cheeks puffing up as she began to pout.] "What's that supposed ta' mean?!"
Simply put, my dear, that you are a bit of a "tom boy".
[Korra begins to grit her teeth, grinding them together as her hands began to glow a fire red.]
"Say.. Say that again? I couldn't hear you right. Did you.. Did you just call me..?"
A tom boy, yes.
[Korra's raised a single hand to shoot a ball of fire into the far wall in front of her.]
"So what if I am?! Who wouldn't want to go to the dance with me?! I'm.. I'm better than any of those soft and "dainty" girls in town! Not my fault all the boys in town can't hold a candle to how awesome I am!"
[The Drone Mother calmly retrieves a pitcher and fills it with water, dowsing the wall with it before the small blaze could spread.]
Yes, dear. Whatever you say. Remember what I told you about playing in the house now, dear.
[Stomping her feet down into the floor, Korra turns to storm away.]
"And remember that I told you it isn't playing, MOM! It's BENDING!!"
The personality is missing some key components of Korra's personality (frustration with her inability to bend, connection to Aang's legacy, etc), and in some cases seems conflicting, particularly the third paragraph- I'm not really seeing the connection between having a crush on someone and being a "girl at heart". We'll need to see an additional three paragraphs of personality exploring these.
Also, the sample entry should be done in the style of a first-person regular post in Mayfield, not a conversation with a drone, so we'll need to see a revised sample as well. If you're having trouble coming up with one, feel free to link to other RPs, make use of testrun_box, or draw on past Mayfield events for inspiration.
Okay! I'll make sure to have a better sample entry and of course, a more extensive personality section. I'll make sure to have it here within the next day or so. Thank you!
Korra is, at times, a bit of a meathead. And by bit, I mean, a lot. She prefers solve her problems by punching them, and she gets flustered and frustrated when a head-on approach doesn't work out for her. Any case that calls for Korra to actually plot and sit and think things out usually ends with her blowing up if she doesn't get a solution instantly. Patience is certainly not one of her best qualities.
As a child, she spent a great deal of her founding years training to master the four elements of water, earth, fire, and air, in order to be properly prepared for her to take hold of her role as the Avatar. Korra has achieved leaps and bounds of progress in every type of core bending, and is a skilled and fierce fighter, but when it ccomes to the spiritual practice of Avatar training, she fails as if she were being paid by the hour. When it finally came time for her to study air bending, Tenzin (the former Avatar's son and renowned Master of air bending), it was like running head first into a wall for Korra. For what may have been the first time in her life, things were not proceeding easily to Korra. For someone who can learn quickly and excel at whatever she puts her mind to, Korra is living day to day with constant frustrations. It can't also help the fact that she is also surrounded by other air benders, whom hold a better grasp of the art than she can, especially since a lot of them are also children.
She has also, up until recently, been unable to communicate with her previous lives. At her age, most Avatars had either already mastered all four elements, been able to communicate into the spiritual side of their being, or both. It is a great pain for Korra to not have a hold on these things, knowing that her previous life, in the form of Avatar Aang, that a boy much younger than her had saved the world from the Fire Nation. In Korra's worries, it seems as though she feels inadequate, having nothing to show for her being the Avatar at seventeen years of age, especially when the city continues to look to her for an answer. When Tarlock began instituting a curfew and rounding up non-bending citizens, Korra could not do anything more than watch in vain as her friends (benders and non-bending alike) were arrested for trying to aide innocent people. Knowing that she holds great power, and yet, being unable to do anything, it can do a heap of damage to some one's ego. As for Korra, it certainly struck a blow.
Having moved from her isolated village to the busy life of Republic City, Korra's personality has grown in a very short time. She had grown up some what sheltered, believing that the city was a pristine paradise of class and approach. Sadly, her ideals were nothing more than a dream. The city wasn't filled with style or prestige. Instead, thugs and gangs roam the streets and bully non-bending citizens with the practice she had been raised with, homeless people lived in bushes in the park, and she quickly learned that not everyone had a team of teachers and advisers to seek when life became tough, or for that matter, a family. In the case of her team mates Bo-Lin and Mako, Korra learned that in some cases people have to sink low in order to survive, discovering that her new friends used to run with a local gang. The world Korra knew was no longer black and white, but clouded and unfair. This was the sound of a gun going off in Korra's head, causing her to finally see the city for what it really was. This, and many other discoveries became the driving force for Korra to begin training harder, in order to fulfill her duties as Avatar and to restore balance to the city she dreamed of. There are parts of Korra that are still sheltered, and she can still be a little gruff. She some times does the wrong things in her attempts to help, but her heart is in the right place. She means well, she is compassionate, and she strives to help those who need her as not only a friend, but as the Avatar.
Fear is very new, and surely very real for Korra. Living under the careful and protective watch of the White Lotus, Korra never needed to fear anything about her way of life. In Republic City, an activist named Amon began a series of attacks against benders in the city. Calling his group the Equalists, Amon possesses the frightful ability of robbing benders of their powers. Fear has become a very difficult emotion for Korra to cope with, and when she first confronted it, she at once pushed it away, not wanting to appear weak in the eyes of the people she has sworn to serve. Despite some reoccurring issues, Korra discovered that having fear is no where near the same things as being weak. Through opening up to Tenzin, Korra was able to discover that it is okay to be afraid, for as long as we have support, we can face any fear that comes our way. Though she still fears Amon, she still prefers to retreat when face to face with him, rather than try to fight him head on.
Korra is naturally very friendly, and she is able to make new friends with ease. On the flip side, she can make judgements rather quick. She isn't too stubborn to change her opinions of people once they've proven that they're different than she first presumed them to be. Once someone has earned her trust, there isn't much she won't do for them. If you're on Korra's bad-side though, pray night and day that you'll live to see next week. She is one to hold deep grudges, and never for anything petty or cheap. She does not back down easily in a fight, whether verbal or with fists. If some one has ever crossed her, and more importantly those that she cares for, Korra will not hesitate to make it known that you've wronged her. This usually comes in the form of a vicious beat down, a la her fight with Counsel-man Tarlock. When Korra's friends were wrongfully imprisoned, Korra had to struggle to not raise her hands against Tarlock, who held the decision to let them free or remain jailed. Discovering that Tarlock had no intention of releasing them, but only held on to them in order to use Korra, she delivered a swift and just assault against him. Unfortunately, Korra (infamous for leaping before thinking) was caught by surprise as she soon discovered Tarlock's secret bending art: blood bending.
Here is a testrun_box link of activity. Please let me know if this sample and the re-written personality section is enough or if I need to expand/revise more. Thank you for your patience and for the opportunity!
I'm seeing some grammar mistakes throughout the personality section, and the provided sample isn't giving me a good feel of her character. The post itself is inadequate by virtue of not being at least five first-person sentences, while the two threads aren't very in-depth. You're free to re-apply for Korra next cycle, but we cannot accept her during this round.
