Jobs
• Welcome to your happy life in Mayfield! Here you have everything - the perfect family, the perfect house . . . and of course, the perfect job. What do you mean you don't have a job? Are you some kind of . . . well. We don't support those kind here, so it's probably best you're here on this page to sign up. Don't worry! As soon as you post here OOCly, your character will immediately be recognized as having that job (just like he or she has had for years) by the NPCs - and their bosses, naturally. Don't be late!
• Exceptions to this are the police officer and librarian jobs, which are limited to five at a time and require an application. We will also be monitoring the teaching jobs to make sure the positions held make sense; based on the size of Mayfield, there will only be one or two teachers per subject.
• Jobs can be held by most characters in Mayfield, excluding children. Adults can sign up for jobs they are qualified for, while teens will have part-time jobs available to them. Just like school, missing your job for more than 3 days in a row will result in a droning.
• As a note, many of the jobs are segregated by gender. In most areas of work, there will be jobs for men and jobs for women. While there will be a gender bias IC, we will do our best to keep opportunities for employment equal OOC.
• To sign up for your job, just comment under the Job Title you wish your character to have (as long as they meet the requirements). Happy job hunting, Mayfield!

LIBRARIAN

IC Reason: In canon, Aziraphale owns a bookshop, and this is the closest equivalent. He's a bibliophile and even if he's not going to be able to get hold of all of his favourite first editions and misprints, any book will do. With all of his experience, he's also rather good at looking after books, and while his past experience of organising books has been to make things as difficult to find as possible, he does use the library, he'll quickly learn to redirect his glares at the people making the noise rather than the people trying to take the books away. Hopefully.
Your Attachment To This Character: I find Aziraphale incredibly fun to play, but also incredibly easy. I've had a muse for him for five or so years now, so I doubt it's going to go away, and I've always had a weakness for his type anyway.
Your Workload: I'm playing pokemon black. That's about the extent of my IRL obligations atm.
Sharing Is Caring: Bearing in mind that Aziraphale's good friend/closest confident is a demon and a bartender I think we can safely assume that nothing that he knows is going to stay a secret for very long.

IC Reason: Giles was a librarian in canon-- he's well-suited to the job, and actually enjoys it. Since he's fascinated by Mayfield and its inhabitants, he'll want to gather as much information as he can, and will certainly be open to spreading it around.
Your Attachment To This Character: Very strong. I've been in Mayfield... it's getting close to two years now, I think, and Giles is my only character here at present. He comes easily to me and I find him a lot of fun to play; he's easily my strongest character.
Your Workload: I've got plenty of free time. I'm online and accessible for hours daily.
Sharing Is Caring: Giles would absolutely spread important information around. He'll go out of his way to gather it.

IC Reason: Aziraphale used to own a used bookstore in his own world, and seeing as there's no way to really bring that here a library is the next best thing. Seeing as he won't have to actually sell any of the books, he'll be quite helpful and kindly to anyone that comes in, and he's experienced with organising and caring for books of all genres.
Your Attachment To This Character: Pretty big! Good Omens is one of my favourite books and I love playing Aziraphale. I can't imagine him going anywhere anytime soon.
Your Workload: It's summer break right now so I'm very free, and when I go back to University I'll have plenty of free time amongst my classes.
Sharing Is Caring: Aziraphale has never been much good at secret keeping - mostly because his best friend is a serpent that is quote prone to gossip here and there.
