Applications

• Please read over all the rules and information before applying in order to minimize any confusion before joining.

• If applying for a character that has already been dropped, it would be a good idea, though not required, to know something of their previous interactions. You are also free to pick up a dropped character with no memories of their previous time in Mayfield.

• All content for the personality and sample entry in your app must be written or roleplayed by you; for the personality section in particular, we do not accept copied text from wikis or other sources. Obviously, you may not copy your app from other players, whether in Mayfield or other games. Application plagiarism will result in a ban from the game.

• If you wish for your character to be placed in a specific house, please mention this in the relevant section of the application and specify that permission was obtained by the PCs already residing in that house. We will be operating by the Honor System for this, and there is no need for others to comment their permission in this post!

• Other special requests would also best go in the beginning of the application. Remember, grammar and spelling are important -- if your app contains errors, you will be asked to revise.

• Please post all applications or canon updates in this post; posting them elsewhere and linking to them from here may cause them to get changed later. Posting them here keeps us from having to save them.

When Applying, Fill Out the Following:

When Applying for an Original Character, Fill Out the Following

• Before applying, please look over any applications that were recently accepted to get an idea of what we're looking for.

• If you apply for a character that has already been reserved, we will inform you and ignore the application until the reserve runs out. You may not apply for more than two characters from the same canon. For the sample entry, you may write your own entry, or use a post from a musebox, dressing room, or other game. We recommend [community profile] testrun_box if you prefer the latter!

• After you're accepted, please follow all of the instructions given. You will need to reply to the acceptance, post your journal to the friend add page and your canon post, join the communities, and use the friend add page to update your journal. Once you're accepted, please introduce yourself on the community when you're ready to play.

• If your app is "Pending", do not freak out! This means that we need you to make some revisions, and does not mean you're rejected. We generally give players a chance to revise before rejecting them, but we will reject apps that do not address the concerns stated when we asked for a revision. If you have been rejected, our reply will clearly state this to be the case. If we have not gotten back to you yet, under no circumstance does this mean you are rejected. If it has been over a week since our last reply, it would be a good idea to contact us with a reminder, otherwise, please be patient!

• If you have received a "Pending" notice, you will have one week to supply us with your revisions, or your reserve will be considered expired and that someone else is free to apply for the character.

• The typical wait for a reply on apps may be anywhere from a day to a little over a week. If any part of your application requires a pending, it may be another week after your reply to that before we can get to you. We process a high volume of apps every round, so please be patient.

If you have not heard back on a pending for over a week after apps close, please send a PM directly to the mod account.

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.

Twilight Sparkle | My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic | Reserved | Part 1

[personal profile] sunnydwithagun 2012-02-05 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Rikimaru

Personal Journal: None

Contact Info: Sonichero91 (AIM), Headbangerdude (Hotmail)

Other Characters Played: [personal profile] spinningorange (Chen), [personal profile] sunnydwithagun (Django)

Preferred Housing: 1247 Williams Road. I have permission from the housemates to have her move back in.

Character Name: Twilight Sparkle

Character Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Character Age: Mature…enough? I have no idea; she’s going to be a pet, anyway.

Background: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Twilight_Sparkle

Personality: The very first thing that should be made clear about Twilight Sparkle is that she is a proud bookworm. She has (and would gladly) spend day after day studying and reading through book after book to for the sake of learning everything she possibly can. Some of her greatest joys include learning new things and mastering the subjects she already knows; as such, Twilight is a very knowledgeable pony who relies on fact and doesn’t mind sharing her knowledge with those who wish to hear it.

This, however, does come with a flipside: because of her dedication to studies, she doesn’t have many friends and has become a bit socially awkward. Twilight doesn’t avoid other ponies, though; even before her relocation to Ponyville, she was acquainted enough with other ponies to get invited to a party, but turned down the rejection for the sake of her studies and other such matters she felt needed her attention more. Although she does try to take care of matters on her own at first, she’s learned to accept a friend’s help if she needs it.

This also brings up another pressing issue in Twilight’s character; sometimes, she’s too reliant on the info she reads and doesn’t have enough faith in things she can’t prove. This is especially prevalent with the supernatural; she accepts magic because it’s something that has to be learned, fine-tuned and researched, but voodoo, curses and her friend, Pinkie Pie’s unique ability of foresight are things she refuses to simply “believe in.” Although it’s a bit odd for one to support both the sciences and magic (they’ve always seemed to be at war with each other), Twilight would sooner turn to them and desperately look for a way to explain the phenomenon than simply having faith, but like many of her negative quirks, it’s something she’s working on. There was also a time when a tree broke through her window during a sleepover and instead of trying to get it out of her home, she turned to her book on sleepovers and tried to determine whether this counted as camping.

Twilight Sparkle | My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic | Reserved | Part 2

[personal profile] sunnydwithagun 2012-02-05 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
While Twilight can usually maintain her composure and a rational mindset, she has occasions of emotional outbursts and temporary sanity loss. The former usually happens when Twilight’s pent up frustration boils over and her body catches fire in classic cartoony fashion. While she’s far from fireproof, it’s safe to assume this doesn’t do any harm to her. The latter, however, is brought about when her plans crumble and fall apart around her or attempts at figuring out specific problems are repeatedly met with failure. Much like the sleepover accident mentioned in the previous paragraph, Twilight has moments when she won’t exactly think straight; one such example is when a celebration was meant to be held in honor of Princess Celestia’s visit, but because it was interrupted by a swam of strange insects, Twilight suggested that the residents build an exact replica of Ponyville nearby in the few seconds they had before the princess’ arrival.

Out of her circle of friends (and everyone in Ponyville), Twilight is easily the most adept with magic. Whereas most ponies’ cutie marks represent the pony’s greatest attribute or talent, Twilight’s represents magical affinity. Even before she had real control over it, her magical outburst at a young age was enough to receive personal mentorship from Princess Celestia herself. Ever since then, Twilight has worked to improve upon her abilities to prove her worth to her friends and her mentor.

But despite her prowess, Twilight chooses not to brag about it or show it off. Part of such extends from her social awkwardness and need to belong to some group of ponies since she used to worry that her friends would reject her if she used her magic too often. Although she’s opposed to showing off, Twilight will still use her magic whenever she needs to. She’s just about this humble with all of her talents. Social awkwardness and slight shyness aside, Twilight is more than willing to make new friends and learn new things. She really is a curious pony and wouldn’t mind lending a hoof to those who need it. She’s known for her organization skills and as a librarian, she’s more than capable of helping others sort things out.

Zero Lancer || Fate/Zero || Reserved

[personal profile] sexmuid 2012-02-05 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Rozen
Personal Journal: [personal profile] rozen
Contact Info: AIM- nfssherlock444 | Plurk: jashinsexual
Other Characters Played: n/a
Preferred Housing: 1764 Beaver Street, and I've obtained permission from Minato-mun.
Note: While the journal name for Zero Lancer on DW is different from LJ, it's still the same mun. .3.b

Character Name: Zero Lancer/Diarmuid ua Duibhne
Character Series: Fate/Zero
Character Age: Looks to be around his mid-20s
Background: Here and here!
Personality: At the most, Zero Lancer is a chivalrous person who is rather polite and honest to everyone he meets, whether it be on or off the battlefield. It doesn't matter who or what they are, he will still be amiable to them. But, he'll be less kind if the person he's talking to his cowardly, since he holds an upmost faith in honor. Always proud and noble, he would much rather have a fair and equal fight then having to resort to dirty tactics in order to win. In fact, he'll go so far as to give himself a handicap if his opponent is not on equal grounds with him, just to be able to duke it out fairly. Yes, he is that stubborn in wanting to do things with honor.

Aside from being polite and respectful, Zero Lancer is also quite loyal, though he is also a bit naive and trusting. Even if the person he's following is wrong, he will still be willing to stick with him. However, that doesn't mean that Zero Lancer is willing to follow and agree to all orders that are given to him (i.e. When Kayneth told him to team up with Zero Berserker in order to finish off Saber). Although he doesn't mind having to obey orders for most of the time, he will go out of his way to refuse them if they interfere with his beliefs. Of course, the only exception to that is if he is forced with a Command Seal from his Master.

Though Zero Lancer is usually calm and collected, he does get mad. However, he only shows it through his expressions, as he's not prone to outbursts, given that he is a knight and all. Even if he is about to blow up, he'll mostly end up trying to settle this in a peaceful manner, especially if the person he's arguing with is very distrustful of him. A knight does have pride, so even though he won't blame them, he will try to justify his side of the arguement.

Since Zero Lancer has a 'lovespot' that makes women attracted to him, one would think that he'd abuse its power in order to get laid a lot, right? Thankfully, this is definitely not the case for Zero Lancer. Being that he was raised to become a knight in order to protect others, he is very well-mannered and humble when it comes to girls, even if he were to get as drunk as fuck. Although he sees his Mystic Face ability as somewhat troublesome, he will still try to accomodate to the females that fall in love with him. The only exception to that is if the woman is already, or is about to be, married to someone else. He's already been betrayed by his master once, so the fear of being betrayed again even though Zero Lancer did nothing wrong bothers him greatly, and he would much rather be chewed out for something else then having to go through that horrible fate again.

Abilities: -Gae Buidhe/Golden Rose of Mortality: A yellow spear that is the shorter of the two spears, and is cursed to create unhealable wounds, or simply put, reduces the maximum HP of an opponent. Even magic and natural healing cannot fix them when one is inflicted by the spear. The only way it can be cancelled is if the spear is destroyed, or if the owner is killed.

-Gae Dearg/Crimson Rose of Exorcism: A red spear that is the longer of the two, and has the power to make magical enhancements (i.e. Saber's armor), projections...basically anything made of prana or is reinforced by it will be ineffectual. However, it doesn't have the power to nullify it completely, so if he lifts the spear away, the object that was impaled will go back to functioning normally.

-Mystic Face: Well, there is a reason why he's called 'Diarmuid of the Lovespot', given that he has a mole under his right eye which can cause girls to instantly fall in love with him if they look at it. However, if they have a high magic resistance, then they will not be affected.

There's also his high agility, magic resistance, and all those other usual enhancements he gets from being a Servant.

Sample Entry: Previous Mayfield post, if that's fine

Fujino Asagami || Kara no Kyoukai || Reserved

[personal profile] fujigglephysics 2012-02-05 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Rozen
Personal Journal: [personal profile] rozen
Contact Info: AIM- nfssherlock444 | Plurk: jashinsexual
Other Characters Played: Zero Lancer, if he gets in as well
Preferred Housing: 950 Beulah Street, and I've obtained permission from The Captain-mun!

Character Name: Fujino Asagami
Character Series: Kara no Kyoukai
Character Age: 17
Background: Right here!
Personality: On the surface, Fujino is just what you would expect someone who's a model student to be: Polite, kind, and respectful of others (heck, she'll use honorifics with anybody, really). She doesn't cause any trouble and is helpful to others, so she'll usually get along with anybody. She is also kind of timid, a bit passive, and reserved. All in all, she looks to be just about your typical good girl. Although, that is only the facade in which she has to keep up, since she does not want others to find out about her little secret, and also because she believes that she'll break down if they don't see her as a normal person. However, one can manage to get close to Fujino if they can gain her trust well enough for her to actually confide in them about her insecurities.

Underneath her facade, she is quite mentally unstable and would seem as if she would break at any moment, were it not for the fact that she's barely clinging onto her facade. As Fujino is kind of weak-willed, she sees murder as a solution, since she sees that action as being okay in order to obtain some kind of inner peace, even though she is merely running away from the problem. She also does it because she likes to make others suffer, and would want to see more of their pain. However, she will still act like nothing is wrong and will continue to act normally. If confronted, she will deny it and say that she isn't a murderer, and will insist that she is normal.

Although her sense of pain has been healed and she can feel it now, she does tend to pent up about it sometimes, since she has been used to not feeling any sort of harm during her life (i.e. When Mikiya asked if her injured leg had hurt, and she merely shook her head). Unless the injury is major, then you can expect her to not say anything about it. On the other hand, Fujino rarely speaks up about emotional injuries, as she feels like it will burden others if she shares it. She'll even go as far as lying about the problem, although she is kind of terrible at it. But, most people won't pick up on what is wrong with her unless they're good enough to sense it (i.e. When Shiki met Fujino for the first time in a cafe, and immediately knew that something wasn't right with her). So, it's going to take a lot of prodding for her to announce it if they ever want to know on how she truly feels about something.

Abilities: Her eyes contain the "Mystic Eyes of Distortion", which can twist and bend anything within her line of sight, but only on things that are possible (AKA existing physically), as she cannot bend concepts (AKA things that are abstract). Her right eye twists clockwise, while her left twists counterclockwise, and she has channels in order to use both directions. Were one to have eyes like Ryougi Shiki's or have some other kind of heightened skill, they would be seen as red and green spirals. Alternatively, if they were to have keen enough eyes, they would see an almost transparent warping.

Character Name: Koakuma
Character Series: Touhou Project
Character Age: Unknown in canon, and I pass it off IC as her being unable to remember. She generally behaves as a child, though, so stick her in a child slot.
Background: http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Koakuma

Due to a limited amount of information on this particular character, here's a bit of headcanon to give her some amount of background prior to the beginning of the game she appears in:

Koakuma was a devil born—or possibly created by the goddess Shinki—in Makai, and spent an unknown amount of time living there, which she has very little memory of. Somewhere during the year 1998, she was summoned to Gensokyo through the combined efforts of Remilia Scarlet and Patchouli Knowledge, as part of one of Remilia's numerous efforts to gain more power for herself. In respect to this purpose, Koakuma was...considerably lacking, apparently not powerful enough to serve her intended purpose as well as having a slight tendency to forget things or become distracted, and as such, she was instead given to Patchouli to act as a personal servant.

To help ensure that Koakuma would in fact do what she would be told, Patchouli cast a spell to bind the devil as her familiar. Upon completion of this spell, however, it was discovered that Koakuma was more-powerful than Remilia had been willing to believe. Wanting to avoid any kind of incident involving her, Patchouli next sealed the majority of the devil girl's powers via a locket enchanted with what she called the "Hiding Moon Seal", and put her to work in the mansion's library where she would hopefully not be needed to use what little power wasn't sealed. Koakuma has found her work to be quite enjoyable, save for any of the times when Marisa Kirisame would break in and "borrow" more books, and has spent almost the entirety of her time in Gensokyo in the mansion's library.

Re: Zidane Tribal | Final Fantasy IX | Reserved

[personal profile] daisy_the_mage1 2012-02-05 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Zidane is probably one of the kindest people you will ever meet! He is always willing to help anyone who is in need – even if that person is somebody he does not like very much. Are you in danger? Zidane will put his own life at risk to save you. Are you feeling down? Zidane will always be there for you and while he won’t force you to tell him your problems, he will try and make you smile again, whether it involves saying a few words of encouragement, trying to distract you with fun to do (as he tried to take Dagger around town when she was feeling miserable to make her feel better, for example) or telling you not to think about it too much. As to why this boy helps people – well, there is no reason, really, beyond the fact that it doesn’t somehow feel right to abandon people. And why would he need a real reason, anyway?

Zidane is also friendly and outgoing, despite the fact that his thieving profession suggests otherwise. Unlike anti-social Final Fantasy heroes such as Cloud and Squall, Zidane enjoys hanging around with others and is not afraid to meet new people – especially women. If he spots an attractive girl, he will not stop himself from going up and flirting with her, even that girl already has a boyfriend. That said, however, Zidane is in love with Dagger and does not intend to go out with any other woman now, as he has now realised that he belongs with her. That will not stop him from using embarrassing pickup lines in order to compliment or befriend a pretty woman he meets, however.

All of this might suggest that Zidane is extremely simple-minded, shallow and stupid, which is actually far from the truth. This young thief can be surprisingly deep-thinking for his age. For most of his life, Zidane did not know where he came from or what race he was – the only thing he remembered about his birthplace was a blue light. For a long time, he longed for a real family and a home he could belong to and even once ran away from his adoptive father to find it (which ended in failure). Because of this, Zidane had a good idea how people like Vivi felt upon discovering creatures exactly like them for the first time.

None of this makes this makes Zidane a pure-hearted being, however. Being a working-class thief, he was not exactly brought up to be the best-behaved individual ever. Zidane swears occasionally, casually scratches his behind from time to time, can (and has been known to) make incredibly tactless comments (eg. being openly horrified at Regent’s appearance when he turned back into a human) and has no qualms about insulting people whom he does not get along with (such as Steiner).

Furthermore, while Zidane is perky, optimistic and generally pretty good at holding himself together when things get rough, he is not incapable of feeling sad. In fact, while this youth is very good at listening to other people’s problems, he is not so good at coming to people with his own. This is probably due to the fact that Zidane grew up as an ‘orphan’, feeling alone and out of place with everyone else in the world. Therefore, when he does become depressed, he actually becomes hugely pessimistic and either tries to avoid everyone so he can sulk alone or looks for something to distract himself from the problem (eg. when he felt that he no longer had a chance with Dagger because she was now queen, he went off to play cards in Treno instead of confronting her about his feelings). It will often take a huge lecture from somebody else to get him to pull his act together and become his bright and cheerful old self again.

That said, Zidane is slowly starting to get better at talking to his friends when it comes to personal issues, although he is still finding it very awkward (eg. he once tried to thank Dagger for helping him deal with his origins but found it very difficult to do so). There are certain issues that he is trying to work out such as how to gain the courage to finally tell Dagger how much he really cares for her. Zidane will learn in time, though. He is only sixteen, after all.

Re: Hanatarou Yamada|Bleach|Unreserved

[personal profile] derpaheal 2012-02-05 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Weak. A hindrance. An eyesore.

These are some of the words that may describe Hanataro at first sight. He is not a person that emits much in the way of confidence or competence. A person could even go as far as to call him a loser. He has cited that he's "the most bullied kid in the world." It does not help either that he is rather gullible, and an easy target for bullies. It's no wonder that Hanataro is as insecure as he is. In addition to this, his brother, Seinosuke Yamada, was once ranked Vice Captain.

There could be additional troubles from that due in part to what is said his brother's bad character, and the power he wielded. It is unknown if Seinosuke was imprisoned or is even still alive at this point. But either way, Hanataro may feel that he has to become stronger than his brother ever was, or feels he has big shoes to fill. The bar is set high; it is possible that he will never be as strong in either prowess or will. It is little wonder that Hanataro is a quiet and humble young man. It is also little wonder that he harbors a potential inferiority complex.

Still, although he tends to be a nervous clumsy mess, Hanataro does have his strengths. He does not lash out against those who harm him or insult him; he scolds when he believes excessive force is used. He is flexible, intelligent, and will do whatever it takes to help his friends, even if it means enduring punishment. He does not tend to be the impulsive type if he can help it; instead, he thinks ahead, as to ascertain what would be best not for him, but for the entire group. If he thinks that a bad choice is being made, he'll call them on it. He has a quiet courage, which is subtle, and harder to notice. This courage was what allowed him to make peace with those that he believed to be his possible enemies-the very same that attempted to use him for a hostage, only to run away. It is the same courage that pushed him to the bridge, unarmed, to take on one of the most dangerous people in his world in order to buy time for his friend's escape. Hanataro is insightful, knowledgeable of his surroundings and quick to analyze the hand he's dealt with. He keeps his goals realistic and has the possibility for great growth as a person more assured of his worth to others. Most likely he will continue to stutter and to flail in the near future. However, Hanataro has finally begun to realize that he is worthwhile and his opinions matter. With such on his mind, he has began to take himself a little less seriously, and started to work on his weaknesses-such as his stamina and ability to fight.

Hanataro does not just live to be a comedic relief, or to be relied upon. He has his own goals and ambitions before Ichigo came to rescue Rukia. He was the seventh seat of the fourth company. Though he often modest about his position, he could be considered the seventh most powerful healer at this time. It is unknown if in the seventeen month period if he became more powerful, and was promoted. It is possible. He is a very hard worker, and does not stop until he has completed his tasks.

Hanataro has been known to be diverted from his work ethics, onto other, more personal projects, however. For example, due to his clumsiness, he was taken by Ichigo as a possible hostage, and then toted along by accident. It looked as if he was going to leave or be left behind when Rukia's name was mentioned. And just like that, he was leading the way. No questions asked, for he had heard Ichigo's story when he was cleaning her cell. He knew that Ichigo was reliable in getting her out. And that's all he needed.

It could be argued that Hanataro has romantic ambitions in mind; that he feels for Rukia more than just mere friendship. That is entirely possible. However, he likely would not act upon his romantic feelings. Not because he feels shy; it is obvious in the flashbacks that he feels quite comfortable in her presence. However, he is also aware of Rukia's station, and the how likely the feelings would be returned. Hanataro may have assumed that her feelings were for Ichigo and him alone.

Romance may not have been enough to rescue Rukia though. He has been noted throughout the arc for being reliable to his new found friends. As well, it seemed that his own Captain was disappointed by what could have been entirely out of character for Hanataro-abandonment of duty to aid the enemy. Most likely, Hanataro thought of the crime that Rukia was facing, and of the scale of punishment. Like others within the Shinigami ranks, something seemed wrong. The punishment did not fit the crime, nor Rukia's personality. It's likely that Hanataro mentally chafed, and weighted his ethics of duty against going against what was morally wrong. To send a good woman to her death, without a trial or even a lesser sentence would not sit right with Hanataro.

This does not mean that the healer meant to rescue her by himself. The system was against him, and his absence would have been noted. If he had not been taken, likely Hanataro would have continued to kick himself, and feel guilty for doing nothing. However, when the opportunity came to set things right (even by going against the Gotei and facing punishment for doing so) he took it. If the system was wrong, then he was going against it. No doubt if Hanataro had been presented the same opportunity, aware of the repercussions of his acts, he would have taken it. He would not want anyone harmed for his actions, far from it. But to do something would be better than doing nothing. Taking action would be better then ignoring what was morally wrong.

[personal profile] kumajiro 2012-02-05 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Molossia, despite his tough outer shell, is actually quite soft spoken and laid back. He loves gardening and playing with his pets. He's also the type to get really easily embarrassed. Case in point being he embarrassed himself by showing his true face to Sealand, Wy, and Seborga. Another cause for his embarrassment is America. Though they're on good terms, he get's really awkward around him. Things got even worse for him when he accidentally mistook America for someone else and he couldn't bring himself to talk back to him or explain himself especially since Sealand showed up not too long after.

While he's in disguise Molossia's the complete opposite. He's pretty much your average stereotypical street punk that tries to pick fights with everyone. Every other word out of his mouth is a cuss word, flipping everyone off, and going all crazy-legged and puffing his chest out while he's in defense mode. Unless you enter his territory legally then he's more than happy to show you around with 100% more F-bombs. Molossia even has the power to freak out people like Switzerland who calls him "abnormal".

However, there's still the off chance that Molossia's true self will show through when he's like this. When the main Micronation trio threatened to leave him behind after he told them that "he didn't need any fuckin' friends" he ran screaming after them. Because he accidentally let his true self be seen once by outsiders, he has vowed to remain "in character" so he'll always be ready whenever someone might show up. This causes confusion amongst people like America who was sorta-kinda confused when he accidentally snapped at him because he's so used to his mild mannered personality.

Molossia seems to like canned coffee. Though that might just be apart of his stereotypical Japanese delinquent facade. He also seems to be creeped out by Ladonia being trapped in a computer. It's unknown if he's freaked out about the concept of Ladonia being a hologram or he's just freaked out over the possessed computer that decided to chew him out for turning it off. Either way, he didn't want any of it and promptly backed away.

Abilities: Molossia is a Mirconation meaning though he has normal powers now, like the immortality and stuff, there's a chance that he might go back to being a normal human anytime in his lifespan.

Character Name: Cornelia li Britannia
Character Series: Code Geass
Character Age: 28
Background: Here.

Personality:
One of the most important things to know to understand Cornelia is that she was raised in a social Darwinist society. Brought up from birth to take survival of the fittest to the extreme, she has always been very condescending and looks down upon those she sees as weak. After all--the strong earn their right to thrive, to flourish, and the weak die out so only the traits of those who are more fit are passed on. This type of attitude extends to people's race, social standing, personal character...everything. She's judged people on their bloodlines, for example, having picked out knights of "the best pedigree" for her sister Euphemia to choose from. Due to believing that she lost three siblings to the Japanese(while in reality, Nunnally and Lelouch were living in hiding and Clovis was actually murdered by Lelouch), she had been extremely mistrustful of the Japanese in particular, but she has made some progress towards getting rid of both that bias and her condesending nature in general, mostly because of the influence of her (late) beloved sister Euphemia.

Cornelia is both a leader and a fighter. She's confidant, logical, and completely ruthless in battle. She doesn't hesitate to make the sacrifices she believes to be necessary, and has gone as far as to sacrifice innocents on the opposite side of the conflict. She was willing to sacrifice an entire ghetto to prove a point, after all. She is even ruthless enough to knife V.V. in the forehead the moment he revealed himself to her, claiming that while she had no prior knowledge of him and he appeared to be only a child, it was too risky to let him live and possibly Geass her. She didn't even know whether or not he had a Geass, just that he was a possible threat.

Cornelia is also stubborn as hell, but when it comes down to it she won't let that affect her as a tactician. She doesn't like to retreat, but if that's what she feels is the best decision, she will grudgingly do so. She certainly doesn't intend to waste the lives of her soldiers. When it comes to her personally, she'll try to stay in the action as long as possible, as she does not believe in being the kind of leader that simply watches her forces fight from the sidelines. She holds the safety of her soldiers in higher regard than her personal safety, and it takes a lot of persuading to get her to agree to let her men fight on without her. It should also be noted that she absolutely hates the notion of being treated any differently because of her gender.

Besides caring for her men, Cornelia holds a soft spot for her siblings, especially Euphiemia. The resentment she held towards the Japanese in particular was fueled by believing that she lost two brothers and a sister to them, and when she shows up in R2 her actions are driven by her desire to prove Euphie's innocence in the massacre of the Japanese people at the opening of the SAZ of Japan and avenge her death. While Cornelia is strict and professional in public, she lets lose and acts playful enough to tickle Euphemia while in her private company. Euphemia's influence is also what caused Cornelia to mellow out over the course of the series--as Euphemia was kind, gentle, and wished for peace above all else, and her death affected Cornelia greatly.

In addition to caring for her siblings, Cornelia also greatly admired Lelouch's mother, Lady Marianne. Out of this admiration, she goes as far as to make her own garden an exact replica of Marianne's.

Abilities:
Cornelia is a normal human being with no supernatural abilities!

Tsukasa Kadoya | Kamen Rider Decade | Reserved

[personal profile] thekingofkamenriders 2012-02-06 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Nick
Personal LJ: kbrighton (relatively inactive)
Contact Info: cstrife@gmail.com (email) cstrife010110 (AIM)
Other Characters Played: Son Gohan
Preferred Housing: I'm OK with random, but if possible, I'd like to be close to Captain Marvelous' house.

Character Name: Tsukasa Kadoya
Character Series: Kamen Rider Decade
Character Age: 22
Background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamen_Rider_Decade_(character)
Personality:
Tsukasa Kadoya is odd, for a Kamen Rider. Where most of them are anti-social, in some way, shape, or form, Tsukasa seems to take it to the extreme. He is arrogant, willful, and hypocritical, often calling people out for things that he himself has done. He cares little for his mission, and even less for the people that he comes in contact with on the worlds that he travels to, wanting nothing but to get finished with his mission and move on, moving one stop closer to his own world. A lot of this comes from the fact that, before he lost his memories, he was the ruthless leader of a trans-dimensional orginazation known as Dai-Shocker, and he had the intention of traveling the world to destroy the only things that could stop them, the Kamen Riders.
Despite his aloof nature, Tsukasa has a driving need to be accepted. He has a need for people to acknowledge his abilities, as well as a need for people to trust him. He wants to find a place to belong, and a group of people that will accept him as he is. While he attempts to put on an air of negativity, once you get past that part of him, you'll find that he is both a strong ally, and a determined friend. He will sacrifice everything that he has for an ally, even going so far as sacrificing himself so that they can survive. He would do it with a smirk and a sarcastic remark, but he would do it willingly and without a second thought.
Tsukasa is very aggressive. He usually attempts to make the first attack, and isn't the type to hold back when he's fighting. He's the type of warrior who feels that the best type of fight is one that's finished with one strike. He doesn't fight fair, and will be more than willing to take a cheap shot and mock his enemy if it would give him an edge in battle. His role is to be the destroyer of worlds, so that the multiverse can be saved, and the world that he started on would be restored to normal. It should be noted that he does still have some level of honor in battle, though, as he won't go out of his way to cripple someone who's injured, nor does he like killing a regular human.
Tsukasa's role as the Destroyer is counteracted by role as the connector. He's not a fan of the role of Kamen Rider Decade, because all of the riders that he is supposed to destroy are also people that he has formed a connection with. He, to some extent, hates himself as much as he hates his mission, as he really doesn't want to be a bad guy anymore; he wants to be the leading man of a story. In his mind, he is the only person who is capable of keeping the memories of the previous Riders alive. It is his desire to keep everyone alive that is his greatest redeeming quality, as well as the lengths that he will go to do so, even sacrificing his very soul to do so. He does this for people whom he has formed a bond with. He does this for people who are his family. They may be from different worlds, and different times, but the bond of the Kamen Rider is something powerful, and through it, they are family.
Abilities: Tsukasa Kadoya is Kamen Rider Decade, and as such has the ability to transform into his own Rider Form, as well as the ability to change into other Kamen Rider, should he have the appropriate cards. Aside from that, in the series, every different world that he travels to, he takes on an aspect of it, with some sort of special knowledge. I doubt this would be applicable in Mayfield, however.

Natalie Waters | Original Character

Other Characters Played: Doofenshmirtz, Nyanpire, Dakki Sigal, Picky
Preferred Housing: I've talked with Inku and if Daniel Chroma gets apped in this round, we'd like to have them living in the same household.

Character Name: Natalie Waters
Character Age: 25 (was embraced at 20)
Background: Natalie was originally designed for a Vampire: the Requiem game. Although her canon could be said to be the New World of Darkness setting in general, other characters of this sort have been allowed under the classification of OC.

Natalie Audet was born in 1986 in Rosemont, in eastern Canada, to a large working class family. She had two older brothers, one older sister, and one younger brother. All of which made it easy to get lost in the shuffle. They were Christmas-and-Easter Catholics, which didn't really count for much. Dad drank, mom tried desperately to hold it all together, grandma Audet moved in eventually... The household was noisy and crowded. Christmasses and birthdays were lean, hand me downs were the norm. Being not quite the youngest could be difficult. Little brother took up the "baby" spot, older brothers and sister picked on you, someone else was always getting the biggest cupcake, the most allowance, the most hugs...

It was an environment that let Natalie draw into herself easily. She loved the library, loved her quiet spot under the porch in the summer, loved to write stories and come up with imaginary, fanciful things. Stories about magic were great. REAL books about it, like.. that Wicca stuff, those were the BEST. Even if she had to keep them hidden from mom and grandma, for fear of punishment. Academically, she was bright. No genius, but always able to pull good grades. It was one of the few things she could use to get some recognition around the house. Her brothers Tyler and Will were certainly no scholars, already getting into trouble for setting things on fire and harassing the local wildlife. Her older sister Julie always seemed shallow and uninterested in using her brain for anything, relying on her looks and charm. Little brother Johnny... well, he was almost always little enough to just disregard. He could be alright, when he stopped crashing toy cars together and making explody noises. Her family and their reputation made it hard to make and keep friends.. at least, make and keep GOOD ones. She learned early on that friendship was fickle, lasting only as long as the test answers or your pack of jelly beans.

The family had little money to speak of, what with layoffs running rampant in that corner of the country. Tyler dropped out of school to work and help the household, Will got himself thrown in jail, Julie got knocked up in 9th grade and that was that, Johnny seemed to care more about his Playstation than anything else... but Natalie graduated with high marks in 2004, snagged herself a scholarship, and got the hell out. The University of Harbourvale was affordable enough on her scholarship money, student loan money, and the part time job that she took.

As many do when striking out on their own, Natalie began to grow and... if not blossom, sprout and bud. In new circumstances, free from the baggage of her family and her smalltown past, she made friends and followed new interests. In the city, it was easy to find other people interested in Paganism and the occult. As wonderful as it was to find like-minded people, Natalie came to learn that most were not as deep and devoted as she had hoped. Few of them took their altars and rites and worship seriously. Too many seemed to be in it for frivolous power or just to get laid. She searched desperately for something genuine... and as luck would have it in such a grim world, she found herself pulled into the circle of a frightfully genuine Pagan cult. It was more of a blood-harvesting venture for a vampire by the name of Jacob Waters, but that mattered little to Natalie. This was something REAL that he was giving to them, as far as she could tell. Something raw and powerful and purposeful. Jacob worked genuine blood magic for his cultists, and he had an enormous, terrifying presence. In Natalie's eyes, he was meant to be worshiped and obeyed and adored. Though she entered the circle as an anxious and eager neophyte, watered with blood and ritual she bloomed into an eager leader and organizer.

Her studies didn't... suffer, really, but literature and history seemed far less fascinating than before. Natalie failed a class here, made up for it there, overslept after long nights doing things best not spoken of to outsiders, and otherwise was academically iffy. But she did manage to wrestle a BA in English out of the institution... and from there, decisions had to be made. Continue along with the cult? Absolutely! Find a better job than the one answering phones and kissing butt at some uptown advertising company? That was a priority, as the hours were really cutting in to her cult time. And... what was this extremely important matter that the Blood God Himself (Or y'know, Mr. Jacob Waters) needed of her?

The turbulent times were well under way for Saint John's kindred community. Natalie and the other cultists had little clue, other than their leader's presence being rarer and rarer. It was Natalie, however, that he chose to take aside and show something very special. She had done well, very well, and he needed an assistant. A protege. A child. Someone that could at watch his back in these crazy times, and be an anchor for his already rapidly-slipping morality. He explained the life of a vampire with absolute honesty, explained that she would have to drink blood, would likely kill others, would never see the sun, would someday grow distant from the rest of humanity. She accepted the consequences, and agreed to a final cult ritual. She was to be "sacrificed" before the others, her throat and wrists slashed and her blood collected. And just as she was on the edge of death, a drop of Jacob's vitae was passed over her lips, transforming her into a new vampire.

A new unlife had to begin for her. Jacob was a Nosferatu, a sub-type of vampire prone to disfigurements. Natalie's skin immediately took on the same reddened-and-cracked texture that his had, mostly focused on her wrists and neck. A day job and office work were now impossible. She took money from her sire, tapped her meager savings, begged and borrowed and cajoled, and bought some run-down housing property in the North End of the city. She went from office lady to landlady. Scary landlady that only had her offices open in the evenings, had a skin condition, and immensely preferred that all business be conducted through the "maintenance guy" that lived for cheap in the first floor apartment. She became a budding slumlord (slumlady?), but that was fine with her. Image was unimportant. The exact source of income was unimportant. Occult knowledge and helping Mr. Waters... Father... THAT was important. She shared an underground haven with her sire during the day, but had an actual apartment in one of the the buildings that she owned. It was rarely occupied, but was there in the off chance she wanted to watch a little TV or invite some guests over.

When the hard times ended and Saint John's kindred community finally came back together, Natalie wasn't immediately sure what to make of it. Other vampires seemed... friendly enough, pleasant enough, sociable enough. She was anxious of making any social missteps, so she mostly kept to herself. Father, being a busy and ambitious man with things to do about the city, supported this. She served as his eyes and ears, and as an excuse and a prop for many small plots. She befriended the terrifying Sandoval Crane, and she came to know the wise elder vampire Shenango through involvement with the mother Goddess worshiping Circle of the Crone.

Pleasant gatherings and trust in those around her came to an abrupt end, however, when Father was bloodhunted and killed. Never mind that everyone had already wanted to do it anyway, never mind that everyone knew that Jacob Waters wanted to kill Prince Doyle and take Harbourvale for his own. Never mind that he may have 'had it coming'. Father was the only stable thing in her life, the only thing that had meaning, and his loss shook Natalie and changed her. She declared her name to be "Natalie Waters". She wore his tie. She made no secret of her hatred of Doyle and his associates, and her desire to bring terrible vengeance upon them all. And why should this disturb them, she wondered? The monsters still have their tea party, and play nice, and nothing ever, EVER comes of it, yes? She knew that her nights were numbered. But frankly, she didn't care.

While this new Natalie seemed to disturb some of those around her, her particular flavor of unwell failed to provoke anyone's ire to the point where anyone did anything about it. Her acting out mostly consisted of vulgar words and table-flipping. She was kept around out of a mixture of pity and apathy. Left to her own devices, she worked hard within the Circle of the Crone and rose slightly in status and occult power. She grew closer to her covenant-mate Kyuss, a fellow reject and oddity, and the two became this close to being some sort of... dynamic troublemaking duo. Or maybe a comedy team. Though she loathed to have to actually trust someone, she found that she could trust him, if just for his pliability and naivete. He WAS the first to be counted on when hunters infiltrated the non-haven apartment that she kept for herself.

Harbourvale's political game closely resembled Calvinball. Prince Doyle was shifted out for another... and then another, and yet another, and others were banished and others were killed.... Natalie found herself requested to take on the position of Harpy by Prince Samuel, a court member responsible for keeping tally of boons and favors, and of stirring the political pot. And she was fortunate enough to get to keep the position after Samuel was ousted in favor of Ulric. Oh, and the matter of Doyle? He brought himself to an end, giving into his core vampire nature and falling to the Beast in the middle of Elysium. It delighted Natalie to no end that she landed one of the killing blows upon him. Vengeance was hers! Hers! But in the wake of that, she found herself almost rudderless. The prospect of long nights without an explicit goal was faintly terrifying. She took off Father's tie. She visited other cities, and made connections with other vampires. And then she started paying attention to what Ulric was doing. Because it appeared that he was going completely mad.

A child becomes a wild teenager, and a wild teenager matures into an adult. And Natalie found herself staring vampiric adulthood in the face as she watched Ulric's court go gradually bugfuck off-the-rails broken all around her. Calvinball was once again in session, with Ulric making up piles of new rules. No safe Elysium for meetings. No real court positions. Dispensing with the old method of feeding ground distribution and dividing up the choicest spots to his biggest supporters. She found herself in the position of very much understanding where her sire once stood, but also found herself without the support and resources to oppose the mad Prince. Too stubborn to leave Harbourvale and too fascinated with the impending trainwreck of Ulric hosting the national kindred Consillium, Natalie stands to the side. Whatever happens, it will be spectacular, and she hopes to be able to craft herself something better from the ashes.
spitefulvitae: (I Gaze and I Judge)

Natalie Waters | Original Character | Part 2

[personal profile] spitefulvitae 2012-02-06 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Natalie is a fluffy stormcloud of pessimism and sarcasm. Life isn't fair, people are idiots, the system is broken, and she will cheerfully let one and all know exactly how she feels when asked. There is a filter from her brain to her mouth, but she usually chooses to disregard it. Too much of her life had been spent biting her tongue and cowering and assessing the situation. Jacob's death loosened her lips and liberated her emotions. She's physical in her expressions, waving her arms and draping herself over furniture and giving people patronizing pats on the head. She dresses with the intent to startle and stun, and is rarely seen without heavy, dramatic make up. (The make up also helps conceal the gradual upwards creep of the cracked red skin upon her neck.) Vampires have a reputation for being a "sexy" monster, but Natalie performs "sexy" to the point of unfunny over-the-top parody. A Nosferatu that reeks of bad rose perfume and suffers from half-concealed skin issues should have no business getting up in anyone's personal space, but she delights in it.

As engaged and vocal as she is now, it comes from a place of pain and loss. She originally spoke and acted out because, on some level, she wanted to dare others to take her down like they took down Father. She hated everything and everyone, and was honestly not engaging with reality or the Kindred community on a healthy level. It took the passage of time to let the wound of Jacob's passing scab over. Time weakened the blood bond they shared, and gave her the chance to pursue her own interests and path within the Circle of the Crone. She's a little more balanced now, and less prone to drastic decisions. She has chosen to retain pessimistic sarcasm as her main method of communication, however, as it seems to work for her. It gets her what she needs, even if that need is often just a smug sense of superiority.

Her devotion to the Circle of the Crone is, if you asked her, absolute. In reality, it has been slipping somewhat as of late. Her studies have diversified past Western European mythology and obscure occult texts. Matters of running the city have kept her and her fellow covenant members from finishing their long-planned temple. The Many-Faced Goddess is no longer first and foremost in her mind, but she has yet to realize this. She gives her praises as the sun sets and bows before her altar as the sun rises, and that convinces her that she is dedicated enough... but deeper matters are currently being ignored. It may be why she has yet to be able to master the last of Father's most powerful Cruac rituals. She will berate others for being insufficiently devoted to their philosophies, or for being ignorant about what they believe, while she herself could use some work in both categories.

Natalie is not a good person. She is a vampire, and one that engages in dark magic. Humans are prey, she must drink blood to survive, and she has come to accept this as fact. She makes an effort to feed inconspicuously and does not kill her prey, if just because the end results take the rest of the evening to properly cover up. In a world without consequence, she would be far more sloppy. She is also not very willing to make friends. Alliances are possible. She feels protective of some of her covenant-mates and close associates. Sometimes she's bored and seeks out others to amuse her. But she dislikes most humans (believing them to be shallow and ignorant) and distrusts most vampires (knowing them to be just as monstrous as she is, and liable to betray her at any moment.) She only ever held real trust and affection for her sire Jacob, and she herself is unsure how much of it was real love and how much of it was the blood bond speaking. During a crisis, she will volunteer her skills and services if they seem to be relevant to the situation, but she will absolutely expect compensation for her troubles somewhere down the line. Her powers make her an excellent spy and information-gatherer, but she lacks the innate strength to be much of a combatant. She's an experienced academic, occultist, and hacker, and can manipulate information for you, provided with the proper tools.

Although time has faded the strength of the supernatural blood bond between them, the importance of Jacob Waters to Natalie cannot be understated. Her Father has come to, in her mind, replace all previous thoughts of her original parents and family. Jacob was her real father, the only one she could trust, the only one that cared for her, the only one worth caring for. It would have been an unhealthy obsession even without an element of supernatural devotion applied to it. Her actions are still guided to some degree by the questions "what would Father have me do?" and "would this please Father?". To insult her sire is to almost guarantee to drive her into a bloodthirsty, mindless rage.

Yuki Nagato | Haruhi Suzumiya | Reserved | Part 1

Name: Walk
Personal Journal: [personal profile] walkway
Contact Info: AIM: Sionwalk
Other Characters Played: N/A
Preferred Housing: N/A

Character Name: Yuki Nagato
Character Series: Haruhi Suzumiya
Character Age: Around 3 Chronologically. 15-16 Physically.
Background: Enter Wiki

Personality: Yuki is not a human being. She does not operate, think, feel or act like any other person on earth. In actuality, Yuki is what, for convenience’s sake, could be considered an alien. She is a humanoid interface developed by the Data Integration Thought Entity in order to communicate and interact with organic life forms, chief among them Haruhi Suzumiya, the potential for evolution. Therefore, she was created with the primary function to observe Haruhi and her effects on the earth, other organic life forms, and society as whole. As an observer, she was designed with extremely restrained social abilities, something that will always afflict her. Unlike the outgoing interface Ryoko Asakura, who was from a separate faction of the Data Integration Thought Entity that sought more exorbitant measures in studying Haruhi and thusly was more socially able, Yuki is completely alien and withdrawn.

A monotone voice, a nearly constant expressionless pokerface, and bi-minutely blinking all highlight just how detached she is from any semblance of emotion. If she’s feeling anything at all, it’s most likely going to be all but impossible to discern. Kyon often states when he thinks he can tell she’s feeling something, however Yuki has never outright clarified this for him. When she does make a decision that could be considered something out of emotions, she considers it as “an accumulation of erroneous files,” demonstrating her own denial that she might be beginning to foster some humanity. In moments where she’s forced into conversation with an organic lifeform, Yuki prefers to respond through kinesis alone in most cases, or perhaps a simple yes or no, maybe an “I see.” Though in certain circumstances, she may respond with a long exposition of overloaded scientific and logical concepts that display her comprehensive knowledge of all sciences and the innerworkings of data. Unless a matter concerns Haruhi or the Data Integration Thought Entity, a solid opinion from her will be something quite rare.

While Yuki does have a rather extensive knowledge of human society and the mechanisms of their lives, because she has such little emotional output she cannot see life in the same manner that normal humans do. This is because she only has the logical side of issues, and has trouble empathizing for the emotional point of view outside a few incidents wherein she finds herself trying to reassure Kyon about his safety. She is overly logical when excising problems, never taking herself into account when making decisions. This attribute is so extreme that she often takes unnecessary measures in performing her functions even if it negatively effects her, most prominently shown when she lives out several hundred years in the form of the same two weeks over and over again without making any effort to rectify the situation. When Kyon inquires about this, she simply states, “My function is to observe.” Anything that impacts her is dealt with an unbiased apathy for herself, though certain “erroneous files” may imply otherwise.

Though a complete outlier when it comes to integrating herself into human society, she isn’t out with a bit of interest in certain recreational activities, however rare such interest might be. Headlining the thin list of interests is books and literature. Yuki is almost never without a book in her lap, intaking all sorts of data and information. One of the things she notes to Kyon that she likes about the book she’s reading is that it’s “unique,” which is telling in that not every type of book might be particularly interesting to her. After some time with one of the computers from the computer club, Yuki becomes rather enamored with programming (and inhumanly talented at it) which pushes herself to decide she might like to take part in certain computer club activities for her own enjoyment. This isn’t to say she’ll outright refuse any other activities, but she won’t feel particularly inclined to take part unless necessary or prompted by Haruhi herself. Yuki does attempt to conform to proper human conduct, sometimes to a fault. When Kyon lied that her bland tea was delicious, she continued to pour it for him as a way of showing human courtesy.

In most cases, Yuki is an accessory. Whether it’s pushing along the goals of the Data Integration Thought Entity, resolving dangerous time paradoxes, or simply playing baseball to keep Haruhi happy.

[personal profile] silencebythewindow 2012-02-06 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities: Because Yuki is not a human, she is not bound by the physical constraints of the human body. What this means is that she has vastly superior speed, strength, stamina and mental processing to any regular human being. She doesn’t even blink an eye when she’s impaled multiple times! Just about anything that causes a problem for the human mind or body, whether it be conventional illness, intoxication, or UV rays. She even has a photographic memory to boot.

However, what makes of the majority of Yuki’s abilities is her ability to influence and manipulate data. What this means is that she can often interact freely with the world around her, and even manipulate probability itself. This method is often complimented with a speedy incantation in a computer language. She can deconstruct matter, change its elemental properties, or interfere with how it relates to the physics of the world around her. Additionally, she can manipulate the properties of her own body as well, and can going into a state of repair wherein any wounds are quickly healed though not in tandem with any other abilities. She can administer this process to others, though to a much, much lesser degree.

The ridiculous lengths of her manipulation doesn’t stop there though, she can even influence the data around her so greatly that she can create a false string of events, such as when she creates a mystery for Haruhi to solve in the form of someone’s missing boyfriend. This is even extended to being able to directly remove or manipulate people’s memories. Her powers can change the weather and produce barriers around people or a place that makes those inside effectively undetectable by anything outside the barrier. Yuki can teleport as well, allowing her to quickly chance positions and intercept danger.

Yuki has shown some qualities that would be considered that of a technopath. She can commune with most technology telepathically and can interfere and edit certain devices through touch alone, being able to alter programming in her own unique fashion.

In terms of offensive capability, Yuki holds a power that could be considered similar to that of the esper, Itsuki Koizumi. While what exactly this power is has been hidden as Yuki restrained herself from using it, it is implied to be a magical blast of energy similar to Itsuki’s attacks.

In dire times, Yuki can go into a sort of critical mode which allows her to use drastically more powerful abilities outside of a data jurisdiction space. In the instance of going into this mode she was capable of freezing Kyon and Mikuru in time for three years.

More miscellaneously, Yuki has small nanomachines that she can inject through bites to the skin. These nanomachines can alter certain processes inside the body, which can be used stop, various functions, supernatural or otherwise, from completing.

Character Name: Rita Mordio
Character Series: Tales of Vesperia
Character Age: 15

Background: Rita couldn’t remember their faces. They were never anything more in her memory than two blurs standing over her. There the first minute, gone the next. At three years old she had already been robbed any promise of a “normal life.” As such, a normal life wasn’t what she got. She got something much more interesting and eccentric than that. Growing up in an orphanage without anyone doing a particularly swell job in watching over her, she detached from most people and developed a brash, unfaltering personality, forgoing any social skills because she was always the only one she had to worry about. There were no family or friends with which to develop those conventions. But by the age of ten, Rita had found something she thought was much better than any friend—the Blastia. They were incredible pieces of technology that once belonged to an ancient civilization. The Blastia can be written to perform just about any purpose. Whether it be simply pumping water or holding up a barrier that keeps monsters at bay, society revolved around the Blastias. They quickly encapsulated her entire imagination and researching and studying them became her entire life. A mage was what she became, and a prodigy at that. The Blastia, they were the only friends she needed, and she began to see them as people and anthropomorphize them. Blastia could never betray her in the way that people could, she could devote herself to them like nothing else.

“…it was my faith in Blastia that mattered. …Actually, it was more like love.”

As a mage employed by the Empire for research, she lived out most of her days in Aspio. Though her brilliance, brash and eccentric behavior, as well the way she treated blastia had the rest of the mages of Aspio regard her as “a weirdo.” But that same brilliance also created a name for herself, often referred to as “The Famed Genius Mage of Aspio.”

Rita continued her research, accomplishing many ridiculous feats for her age in regards to blastia research and excavation. But one fine day, while buried in pile of books and research, a former night from Zaphias, the Empire capital comes accusing her of stealing an Aque Blastia from the lower quarter. The former knight in question, Yuri Lowell came along with a noblewoman named Estelle as well as a young member of the Hunter’s Guild, Karol. Apparently the person who stole the Aque Blastia from the Lower Quarter in Zaphias called himself “Mordio” which just happened to be Rita’s last name. Upon hearing this, Rita makes the connection between stolen blastia and a group of thieves thought to be plundering a nearby ruin. In order to clear her name as well as investigate the ruins, Rita agrees to go along with the trio to check out the ruins.

Though they couldn’t catch the thieves, Rita had cemented herself as not too bad of a person, and while Yuri wasn’t ready to believe her yet, Estelle had gotten quite attached to the young mage. Rita insists to continue traveling with them, not only to completely convince Yuri of her innocence, but to investigate the Barrier Blastia in the town of Halure that Estelle had recently mysteriously reinvigorated. Seeing Estelle as a major clue to figuring out a formula she was working on, Rita continued on with the other three. After finding out a little about the supposed actual Blastia thief Yuri was looking for, the group needed to find a way to cross the ocean to Torim harbor, and on the way Rita discovered a path of wrecked Blastia, supposedly being destroyed by some man in armor riding a dragon. Compassionate as ever towards the Blastia, Rita slowly became more and more infuriated the more destroyed Blastia she found.

Later, upon being arrested and taken to the town Heliord along with Yuri and Karol, Rita noticed that the Barrier Blastia in the town was starting to malfunction. Thankfully the heir to the Imperial Throne, his highness Ioder (Whom the group had saved from a burning ship earlier) along with the newly revealed Princess Estellise pardoned their “crimes”. The aer from the blastia was spilling out at incredible speeds and density, which would poison everyone in the town to death if it had gotten any more out of control. It looked as though the blastia would either explode, or envelope the city with the dense aer. Desperate to save “him”, Rita refused to leave it alone even though it looked like it was about to explode. When the Blastia finally did, Rita managed to keep the blast as small as possible, though it still left her severely injured. While recovering from her injuries, Estelle refuses to leave Rita’s bedside and continues treating her with healing artes until she passes out from exhaustion. It’s here that Rita’s first bond of true friendship starts to form.

“…What do you think Estellise thinks of me?”
“Funny, I didn’t think you were the type to care what people think, Rita.”
“…Forget it.”

In the wake of the crisis, Commandant Alexei states that he’ll be taking Estelle back to the capital with him, and out of the blue Rita insists that she go with Estelle. However, Commandant Alexei instructs Rita that she must go research the strange plant life in the forest of Keiv Moc. Estelle speaks out that she would like to accompany Rita, as it would be no different than if Rita came with her to the Capital. Alexei isn’t quick to allow her, but once Yuri says he’ll come along to keep her safe he reluctantly agrees. The group set out for the Guild city, Dahngrest, and then to the forest of Keiv Moc.

What was mutating the plant life in Keiv Moc turned out to be something known as an “aer krene,” a natural spring of aer that floods the world with the incredible amount of aer that makes up the atmosphere. It was out of control and spewing out absurd amounts of extremely dense aer. Just when the aer becomes too dense for the group to continue fighting off the mutated monsters of the forest, a long white haired man stepped in. With his mysterious, glinting sword he eliminated all the swords in one fell swoop, as well as quelling the runaway aer krene. To say Rita was amazed at this display would be an enormous understatement. Unfortunately for her the man wasn’t interested in conversing with the young mage, or any of the group for that matter, and quickly disappeared as mysteriously as he had arrived.
Eventually, Yuri and the gang were able to defeat Barbos of the Blood Alliance guild. He was not only responsible for the stolen Aque Blastia core from the lower quarter of Zaphias, but was also a major catalyst of a war that almost broke out between the guilds and the Empire (Knight and friend of Yuri, Flynn Scifo managed to take care of that mess on his own). With Barbos out of the picture, the Aque Blastia in safe hands, and Estelle now directionless and heading back to the capital, Rita decided it would be best for her to part ways with the group and to study certain curiosities such as the aer krene hidden throughout the world.

“When I finish my analysis, I’ll…um…pay a visit to the capital, too.”

The next time the group ran into Rita, she was beating the hell out of just about every night in Heliord (And Karol, who was disguised as a knight at the time). If one thing was made all too clear, it was that Rita Mordio doesn’t take too kindly to being arrested. The reason the knights had been doing so was because she had been sneaking around restricted areas of the city at night. Rita refuted the charges as she thought it was perfectly reasonable to be looking into such shady events as sneaking Blastia into labor camps. In the meantime, Rita got acquainted with the new member of their group. Curiously, she wielded the same weapon as “That dragon freak” but Rita decided it must only be a coincidence. Reunited with the group, (And quite visibly pleased to see Estelle was still with them) Rita looked into the shady occurrences at the labor camp. It turned out that a man named Cumore was scheming with Yeager of the guild “Leviathan’s Claw” in order to create a number of Hoplon Blastia (Destructive, like cannons) with which to subdue the Union of Guilds. Needless to say, Rita was infuriated as usual by the abuse of Blastia and the group promptly put an end to the operations with the help of Flynn and his brigade. While the knights liberated the camp, Rita, Yuri and the rest gave chase to Cumore and Yeager but to no avail.

The group took refuge at Torim Harbor, where Rita decided to continue traveling them as she researched the aer krene. She insisted it was only because it would be safer than going alone, but it was more than obvious their little group began growing on her, especially Estelle. Managing to procure a ship from the leader of the guild “Fortune’s Market,” they set out to cross the sea towards Nordopolica, where they might seek council with the Duce, Belius, about Estelle’s run in with a mysterious being after Rita had left Dahngrest. During the trip, the boat broke down and left them stranded next to a mysterious ghost-like ship. Uncharacteristic of her, Rita seemed absolutely horrified of the thing, urging the group to get out of there as soon as possible. Unfortunately for her, Yuri dragged her in anyway. Things like this; the unexplained were the chink in her armor. Her logic and her research were powerless against something she couldn’t explain. It isn’t supposed to exist, damn it! It can’t!

While Estelle was wrestling with her identity as the supposed “Insipid Poison of this world,” Yuri was wrestling with the morality over his murders of the corrupt Ragou and Cumore, Rita was merely trying to understand what was going on with the world. The aer krene all seemed to be going out of control, and every time it happened a strange creature would appear and make it dissipate just like the man in Keiv Moc did. It turned out that these creatures were intelligent beings known as Entelexia. One of the Entelexia, Pharaoh, was responsible for labeling Estelle as an “Insipid Poison” and was the object of her quest to find out what he had meant. The Duce of Nordopolica, Belius, turned out to be one of these Entelexia. While conversing with her, Yeager set up a trap that allowed the Hunting Blades (A monster killing guild) to break into Nordopolica after informing them that it had been taken over by a “monster” (Belius). Wounded, Estelle attempted to heal Belius with her healing artes, and that’s when the truth came it. It drove her insane, causing her to beg for them to kill her, and eventually they had to.

Stricken with regret, Estelle and the group continued to look into her identity. The truth was that she is a “Child of the Full Moon”. These children are able to use healing artes without the aid of a Blastia, but they take in enormous amounts of aer to do so, and the formula involved makes her poisonous to the Entelexia and the world itself. Estelle was bringing the world’s aer out of balance, and killing it in the process. Rita was blown away by this revelation and seethed at the prospect of Estelle’s death being the only way to save the world. Both Estelle as well as the Blastia were pushing the world towards its tipping point, and the world had to either change or die. With the aer being viciously pumped out of Terca Lumeries to make up for Estelle and the Blastia, it was becoming more and more poisonous every day. While researching the ancient civilization that created the Blastia, Rita learned of a catastrophe that unfolded because of the Children of the Full Moon as well as their Blastia. This catastrophe was called the Adephagos, and the only way to seal it away involved the sacrifice of the Children of the Full Moon. Therefore, the only solution was to kill Estelle. Horrified, Estelle ran from the room in tears.

And they couldn’t find her afterwards. Both Estelle and the ever enigmatic member of their party, Raven, were both gone. Immediately questioning where his loyalty lies, Rita and the group immediately set out to find their missing friend. Rita in particular was guilty and shaken up by the tragedy. If Estelle was hurt…She couldn’t bear to think about it. Never had Rita been as close to someone as she was with Estelle, and the thought of losing her bore holes in her stomach.

“I should never have left Estelle alone… Maybe I couldn’t have done anything, but I should’ve at least stayed with her. She was so depressed…”

Rita Mordio|Tales of Vesperia|Reserved|Part 2

[personal profile] geniusmage 2012-02-06 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
In a shocking revelation, it turned out that Alexei was a traitor and had captured Estelle to use her power as a Child of the Full Moon to resurrect an ancient weapon known as Zaude. Raven turned out to have been living a double life: Both as Raven, member of the guild Altosk, and as Commander Scwhann, a knight indebted to Alexei. Schwann was instructed to eliminate Yuri, Rita, and the rest of the group. However, they eventually got through to him, and he protected them and allowed them to go after Alexei.

At the top of Zaude, Alexei activate the weapon, or at least what he thought was a weapon. It was actually a barrier. A barrier protecting them from the ancient catastrophe: The Adephagos. With the Adephagos released, time was running out and it was up to Rita to figure out a formula that could balance the aer in the world and drive back the Adephagos. She constructed a formula that combined the remains of an Entelexia along with an aer krene and Estelle’s power that would convert the aer into a substance known as mana. The formula worked way, way better than expected. It converted the Apatheia (Remains of an Entelexia/An extremely potent Blastia Core) into a corporeal being known as a Spirit. The Spirits were not only able to regulate the flow of aer, but were also a sort of antidote towards the Adephagos and the only way to combat it. They created four great elemental Spirits with the Apatheia, but their power still wasn’t nearly enough to eliminate with the Adephagos. The only feasible solution was to convert every single Blastia in the world into a Spirit in order to combat the Adephagos. Rita constructed a device, aptly named by Karol as “Vesperia No. 1,” that would act as an artificial Dein Nomos (The sword of Duke, who controlled the aer at Keiv Moc) and focus together all of the power from the Spirits to destroy the Adephagos. Rita, with the help of a few other mages from Asipo constructed a network between all of the Blastia in the world. When Vesperia No. 1 would be activated close enough to the Adephagos, all of the Blastia in the world would be converted at once and gather to combat the great catastrophe in the sky.

While Rita and the others were continuing their quest, the mysterious Duke was working towards his own goals. Rather than work with the group towards their solution, he sought to create his own. He saw humans as selfish creatures always inclined to betray each other, he saw them as a taint towards the beauty and splendor of the natural world, along with their wretched blastia. By raising an ancient ruin from the mountains around Aspio known as the Floating Castle of Tarquaran, he sought to destroy the Adephagos with the combined energy of every human life. He would rather exterminate them all than change the world like Yuri and his party intended.

Before setting off towards Tarquaran, Rita snuck out to check on her calculations for the Vesperia No. 1, but ended up speaking with Judith, who was earlier revealed to have been the infamous “Dragon freak.” Rita wasn’t too resentful of her anymore; as she understood that Judith was just trying to protect what was important to her in her own way. Seeing as without any blastia to destroy anymore, she wondered what Judith was going to do with her life now that she’d essentially lost what her original purpose for living was. Judith asked Rita the same question, because without any blastia research to do, what could she devote herself to? Rita, while sounding rather nervous and unsure, remarked that she still had a lot of things that she could research. She revealed how much she’d changed over the course of her journey, how she realized that there are things that she can believe in besides blastia, and just how much she’s grown attached to everyone in their group. Judith’s reply is similar, citing how she’ll just travel the world with her friend and Entelexia, Ba’ul. Rita mentions that she should take Estelle with her, as there’s still a lot the princess needs to see in this world. Judith agrees, but mentions how lonely it’ll be without Rita. Flushed and embarrassed, Rita admits that she could probably come along if they really wanted her to. But between then and that, stood one long, crisis of a day.

“…All the different people, different things on this journey….you know?”
“Yeah, I do. I never dreamed I’d end up like this. …I don’t want to go back.”

Upon further examination of Tarquaran after they had begun their, ascent, it seemed as though it was yet another stroke of genius by the ancient Gerios civilization that had invented the blastia. Like Zaude, it too seemed to be a weapon, and Duke was sitting atop, ready to eliminate all life on Terca Lumereis. After a long, enduring ascent the group finally came face to face with Duke on the summit of Tarquaran and attempted one last time to sway him to their side of things. Each of them stated their plan and their convictions. They pleaded that the world was evolving and changing for the better, and to just obliterate everything out of fear for what that change might bring was the wrong thing to do. But Duke countered with his own ideals, and it became clear that he was not going to just give up without a fight. He lifted Dein Nomos towards the group and prepared to fight for his vision of the world, as it should be. A world he would risk his life to preserve.

“Young mage…Can you truly stand by while all this world’s blastia are lost…?”
“I don’t care. My conviction is what mattered. My faith in blastia… …Actually, it was more like love.”
“In the end, though, they were not worth risking your life to save.”
“What are you, stupid? It’s not about ‘risking my life.’ Even without blastia, there are plenty of things in this world worth loving.”
Abandoning the old for the convenience of the new…Perhaps that would work…
But I for one, will risk my life. Though I must endure the scorn of youth. I will risk my life to protect this world!”

Personality: Rita isn’t the kind of character that can be summed up into a single adjective. Her dimensions are numerous and she has a life of pure peculiarity that lends itself to her eccentric existence.

But most obviously, and perhaps, most prominent in Rita is her hot-blooded, brash, say-what’s-on-my-mind attitude. This behavior is a result of her minimal contact with other people in social situations. She never built the kind of social skills that result in caring about what other people think, or being tactful towards other people’s feelings. It isn’t that she speaks without thinking and comes off as harsh, it’s that she is brutally honest regardless of whom it is she’s speaking to. She’s certainly rude with her honestly, and won’t spare several insults if you’re getting on her nerves. Yuri notes her as the type to hold a grudge, and if you cross her in the wrong way, she isn’t going to forget it. Even as close and compassionate as she becomes towards Estelle, she constantly finds herself in moments where she speaks her true feelings a little too loudly and accidentally hurts the girl’s feelings.

Similarly from her life without parents, friends, or a family to support her, Rita gained incredible autonomy, which only served to foster her brilliance. She never had to rely on anyone for anything. She never took handouts and wouldn’t dare take assistance from someone else. She even goes as far as to show disdain for those who rely solely on others, scoffing at the sorry state of the Guilds after the Don was killed. Individuality, thinking for yourself, and not conforming into a blind follower are all traits she values in herself as well as others.

Rita is well aware of how smart she is, and is confident enough to rely on herself and herself only. She became hyper realistic growing up in the way that she did, always peaking towards the logical conclusion rather than the idyllic conclusion. With Rita it always follows the scientific method. Hypothesis, Test, Record! Logic rules all under the lenses of her pink goggles. You can constantly find her talking to herself, carefully examining her environment and analyzing it. In a world where Rita doesn’t know what’s going on or how it works, she’d be distressed to the point of self-harm.

Though her interests remained mostly among blastia, throughout her journey with Yuri and Estelle, she came to find other things she could love and study, and so long as there was a world she could keep learning and keep discovering things. She isn’t afraid of failing or messing up if it means she can make a discovery, if it means that she can grow.

In the wake of her hyper realistic attitude and mindset, things that can’t be explained such as ghosts or curses kind of…cause her to completely wig out. If something can’t be explained, it couldn’t possibly exist! Because…that would be terrifying! This is one of her few true weaknesses when it comes to phobia, and can easily be exploited, though you’ll probably just get punched in the arm.

Rita has always been pretty adamant about hiding any positive feelings towards others. Any time someone suggests that she may be acting warmly or kindly, she’ll quickly dismiss it with a flustered blush and a resounding, “I-It’s not like that! Humph, idiot…” and yet another punch in the arm. If she’s going to be open about her feels and not hide behind the “Humph! Idiot!” barrier, you better bet she swears you to secrecy over it.

A primary mode of frustration with Estelle and many of her friends is that they go off and do things without thinking. And though she’d likely act the same way if a blastia were on the line, she’s still going to accost you for being an idiot and endangering yourself. Again, logic rules over emotion, and emotion isn’t worth a stupid, pointless death.

Rita always saw herself as a bit of an outlier. Whenever she would discover something, she would find the mages in Aspio discussing the same thing two months later. Rita figured that talking to them was just a waste because she’d never get anything stimulating out of them. She was the smartest one of them all, and because she was so smart, she had nobody to relate to her. Rita really was too smart for her own good. It was just one of many things that deprived her of a normal social life.

At the end of the day though, if you’ve earned Rita’s loyalty and her friendship, you better believe she’ll be fighting by your side until the bitter end. As logical as she can get, and as hypocritical as it might make her sometimes, she just couldn’t abandon a friend. The closeness she gained with Estelle and the rest of her group had an extremely profound effect on the young mage, and because of it, she found something worth preserving, regardless of what she had to do to do it.

“I don’t have any family, so I don’t….but…I kinda like, you know, how we are.”

Character Name: Moist von Lipwig (though he's gone through a lot of names in the past, sob)
Character Series: Discworld
Character Age: 26, according to him.
Background: Discworld wiki, and the Wikipedia article.
Personality:

Honest, truthful, genuine, frank. Four words that, at first glance, seem to describe Moist von Lipwig. And, well, he's got an honest face and a trustworthy handshake.

Unfortunately, right after your first meeting with him, you might find that you've lost a significant amount of your money, any recollection of his face (he's nondescript like that) and/or a pencil.

Moist, first of all, is a con man. By his own admission, he's "a natural-born criminal, a fraudster by vocation, a habitual liar, a perverted genius, and totally untrustworthy". Granted, he now leads a life of civil service as the Postmaster General of Ankh-Morpork (and Master of the Royal Mint as well), but he still has quite a few things that link him to his criminal life before, and a few habits that he just can't bring himself to break (like stealing Drumknott's pencils, cough, cough).

Part of the reason as to why he does it is not because of greed (though that does play a part), but because...well, it's fun. He loves the feeling he gets when a con is going just as planned, the thrill of the hustle. You know the feeling most people get when they're, say, sky-diving? Moist gets it when a con nets successful results, when a forgery gets past even the keenest eyes, when the crowd's right in the palm of his hand, when he raises the stakes and throws in everything he's got. Of course, now that he's on the straight and narrow (mostly), he's taken up a few rather risky activities to alleviate his boredom.

However, just because he's a criminal (or was) doesn't mean he likes violence. On the contrary: he's a pacifist. He prefers using words and tricks to swords and knives, though he will put up a fight if necessary. Doesn't mean he has to like it, though. Just ask Mr. Gryle the banshee--or rather, the remains of Mr. Gryle, after he was thrown into a sorting machine. Although it was in self-defense, Moist threw up instead of saying a cool line. Another example is in another book, when Vetinari hands him a sword and bargains with him. He's nervous holding the sword, and even asks him at one point, "Sorry, why is it me that's holding this sword?"

He is, however, good with words. Like I said before, he's a con man, being good with words and having people skills is practically a requirement. He can make people believe, for example, that the glass ring is actually made from diamond, that you've got a chance to find the Lady, that paper has value and gold does not, among other things. This comes into play more often than not.

But the thing is, well, he also believes in style. After all, somebody in a black outfit sneaking through a bank in the middle of the night is a lot more conspicuous than a man who wears a sharp business suit and has authentic-looking papers. It's why he wears the golden suit and hat--because they're stylish, and because people recognize them better than they recognize the face.

(He's good at sneaking around, though. And pickpocketing, and stealing, and other such things.)

Also, he likes to think that, because he's a pacifist and doesn't use violence, he's automatically a little better than a lot of other criminals. But the thing is, well, you can still kill even without using violence, as his golem parole officer, Pump 19, at the time points out. This is something he didn't really think about before, but it's something that helps in making him a somewhat better person. Somewhat.

He is also a master of planning stuff out on the fly. His brain works faster when he's under pressure, when there's a deadline coming up or when he's in danger.

...and, well, despite being a criminal, and unashamed of it, he still has a pretty good heart. He just doesn't show it all that much.

So, there you go. Just keep your pencils and money safe.

Abilities:

Moist is an ordinary human, which means that he doesn't really have any special powers whatsoever, unless you count the fact that he's got one of the most unmemorable faces on the Disc.

However, he is also a criminal. Or was. He's an expert forger, a damn good actor, a smooth-talker, a pickpocket, a thief, all those things (except for anything that has to do with violence, he'd much rather use words).

As an effect, he's gained the ability to "read" people as he interacts with them. Basically, he can tell, from their body language, speech and other such mannerisms, at least a few personality traits. Apparently he's gotten good enough at it that, in Going Postal, he figured out Reacher Gilt's true nature by shaking hands with him. However, someone can get past this by being an even better actor than he is or by carefully making sure that they don't give away too much by body language, as Carrot Ironfoundersson manages to do so (he is still stumped by how he does it).

[personal profile] squeaks 2012-02-06 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: A ghost with a zest for life. Sounds like a contradiction, doesn't it?

Easygoing and cheerful, it's almost impossible to tell at first glance that Murasa was once notorious for wrecking countless ships on a whim. When she's smiling all the time and joking around like any child, it can be hard to remember that the girl's been dead for over a thousand years. On the surface, Murasa doesn't seem gloomy or otherwise "haunted" in the slightest. Rather, there's an amiable and effective duality at play: as a captain she's honest, practically unshakable and full of quiet authority. Yet her upbeat attitude, boundless energy and occasional brash arrogance belong more to a girl in the prime of her youth. This is because Murasa is ultimately both; a figure of authority before a kid when the situation calls for it, but still the latter beneath it all.

Yet there are hints that point to Murasa not being as well-adjusted as she seems. She's unable to rest peacefully even after a millenium of existing; her amiable attitude has been described as "a little too cool." No, Murasa's cheerfulness isn't always a hundred percent genuine, not when there's a lot of dark, unhappy thoughts she keeps to herself: a lingering bitterness over her tragic fate, a regret to span centuries for her past misdeeds as a shipwrecking ghost. While Byakuren's forgiveness (and acceptance) proved to be Murasa's salvation, it would just be naive to think that the monk's kindness could wipe clean Murasa's past. She wishes to do penance for her rather bloody reputation, but such a thing is a long and difficult journey that she still hasn't quite figured out how to properly begin.

On a deeper, hidden level, she's constantly tormented by the memories of being trapped in an ocean and drowning people out of spite. It's a testament to Murasa's strength, her courage and her will that she would struggle to atone for her selfishness and insanity rather than slip this mortal realm and pass on into whatever afterlife awaited her. Yet it's also a testament to Murasa's crucial inability to simply let go - to forget either a grudge or a debt - and so she can't forgive anyone or anything easily, especially not herself.

Akira Date | Kamen Rider OOO

[personal profile] stupidsexydate 2012-02-06 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)

Preferred Housing: Random is fine, preferably in a house with players already
Character Name: Akira Date
Character Series: Kamen Rider OOO
Character Age: Presumed to be about 30s
Background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamen_Rider_Birth#Akira_Date

Personality: From the outset, Date is a rather easy going character, with a driven sense of duty to his motives. A travelling doctor, he was known as the Combat Doctor, going from country to country and giving medical help in different areas of the world. It was here that in one occasion, he was giving help in a war-torn area which had been sparked by Eiji Hino's family money being used to start a revolution. It was presumed around this time that the motive of his need for money happened, as he was shot in the back of the head with an automatic colt pistol during his service time. This, motivated by the underground medical community giving him a high price for such a delicate surgery was the key to his actions during Kamen Rider OOO.

Date is known for his large appetite for numerous foods, most especially Udon as it is one of his favourite things in the world. He dislikes sweet foods, to the point of refusing cake presented to him by Kougami, and desires the chance to save his life. Being chosen as the operator of the Birth System allowed Date to live this dream, and get the life-saving surgery that he so desired. Desire is a main focus of his character, either it being saving his own life or saving others. He even stresses numerous times to Eiji in-series to find something he desires in order to save his own life.

Date is actually very caring for the people who he considers friends, and has a sharp bedside manner whenever a patient is being unruly. He is the first person to haul someone who is ill into a hospital so he can treat them, and will be the last to leave when that person is better. His moral center is a little off-center, as he is willing to indulge in illegal activities to save his own life, but he does value the need for saving people as well as earning your own dream.

Date is easily swayed by money, something Gotou has had to reign him in from. Such as the moment where Gara's girls were offering 5 million yen in exchange for a silly hairstyle, Date had to visibly stop himself from accepting this reward. However money can't sway him all the time, but plays a good part in Date's personality. His greed was only surpassed by his desire to save his life, and for that reason he wanted money to have the illegal surgery be performed to remove the bullet from his head.

At a glance he doesn't seem like the type of person to take anything seriously, from not reading the entire Birth operators manual, to not using his medal-farming weapons in battle in order to wrestle with the enemy. Being a combat medic, he has seen many kinds of battles, and wields the arsenal about as well as someone does who hasn't read everything. Still, Date feels like its also his job to train Gotou as the new Birth, something he passes onto Gotou later in the series.

Re: Akira Date | Kamen Rider OOO

[personal profile] stupidsexydate 2012-02-06 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Abilities: Kamen Rider Proto Birth System - a transforming system utilizing medals forged from the greed of humanity as a powering system. A suit of armor with technological targeting systems, warning and heating is all included in the system. Along with it is the CLAWS system, a weapon system that involves items such as caterpillar legs, claw and drill arms, a flight pack and the breast cannon. The weapon itself is easily mass produced in-series, as numerous Birth Busters are created for the suit, and is powered by the energy of cell medals. Unlike most Kamen Rider Systems, if something gets damaged it needs to be repaired, instead of being magically repaired upon the next use.

In addition to the weapon, the CLAWS create Birth Day, which is a large scorpion-like machine that can be used for mobile pursuit and attacking from both under ground and on the surface. Use of the system would be limited until someone has the skill to manufacture more cell medals through alchemy, or possible Yummy creation from a Greeed.

Sample Entry:

Around the House:

[Despite Mayfield being absolutely batshit insane at times, it had its good points. One of it was being able to kick his feet up after work and lean back with a sigh. He even got one of those pipes with him but it was a bubble pipe purchased from a novelty store. To the side lay a steaming bowl of Udon, and he was dressed in a housecoat.]

Nothing quite like it, huh Gorilla-chan?

[The Candroid Gorilla hooted its approval as it held up the newspaper, and Date took it with a grin.] Thank you!

Within Combat:

[Maybe there was a situation that needed his help, but Date had finally gotten around to arriving.] Yo, sorry I'm late.

[Strapping on the belt, he flicked the cell medal into the air and caught it with his other hand.] Henshin.

[Popping the coin into his belt, he twisted the knob and spread his arms. In an instant, a mechanical suit formed from several materialization balls around him, as a helmet locked into place. Flexing his arms out, Date grinned under his suit helmet.]

All right you overgrown whatever you are, lets see you take this on for size!

[Clicking a cartridge into his Birth Buster, he started firing a salvo of golden coin-shaped disks at the opponent, hoping to knock them back before going in with a body slam!]

Hospital

There you go. Take good care of yourself, so I won't see you in here again.

[The drone kid nodded as Date washed his hands. Taking care of patients in a hospital, even one as 50s American as this one, was still a nice feeling. He was glad that the hospital had actually given him something to do, and he had thrown himself into work. So many kids and adults coming in once in a while, it was nice being the straight man in all of this.]

Other Characters Played: [personal profile] unexculpable & [personal profile] detecting
Preferred Housing: N/A

Character Name: Soul Eater Evans
Character Series: Soul Eater
Character Age: 15
Background:Wiki Link!

Personality:

Soul's a pretty cool guy. He eats kishin souls and doesn't afraid of anything.

But really. He's very relaxed, laid-back person. He's definitely a follower, not a leader. He's more the adviser type. Someone else might be in charge, but he won't hesitate to call them out on stupid, reckless behavior. He might not be calling the shots, but the person who is will never have to wonder what he thinks of the decisions they make. Because Soul will tell them. And he will be loud. And he will yell. And he will do what it takes to get their attention. This works... sometimes. At least, it works when it really seems to matter. Maka, for instance, is the most stubborn person he knows. Maka does what Maka wants whenever Maka wants to. She runs into situations without thinking, she listens to her heart whereas Soul listens to logic and reason. He often tells his Meister that she's doing something dumb or reckless in an effort to keep her from harm.

That is actually a very important facet of Soul. He is incredibly loyal and dedicated. He doesn't break promises, he doesn't switch sides. He is always looking out for his friends and he refuses to see them come to harm. Maka especially. He's her Weapon. It's his duty to keep her from getting hurt. It may not look like he cares about much, but under the surface, Soul is one determined kid. He protects Maka without hesitation. When she freezes, he acts for her -- putting himself in harms way to keep her safe.

Soul is able to keep himself calm and composed no matter how difficult things get. He manages to remain level-headed and think clearly, offering insight into various situations that others may have overlooked. However, he's never wordy. In fact, he's anything but. Soul is very blunt. No skirting around issues, he will tell it like it is. Which is not always what people want to hear.

For a long time he was trying to reach his own expectations of what "cool" looked and acted like. In many ways he still is. Sure, he's a Death Scythe now, but that hasn't done much for his confidence or his self-esteem. He feels that without Maka, he is completely useless. He can't fight on his own and he's not strong or fast. At least not strong enough to do any good.

Despite wanting to be cool, Soul does not want to be popular. He fears emotional attachment, always keeping a bit of distance between others. He's reluctant to talk to anyone about his problems - he's tight lipped about his past and his family, not even Maka is aware that he has a brother, nor did he say a word to her when he was first infected with Black Blood about the dreams he had of the Little Ogre.

Music is very, very important to Soul even if it is a bit of a catch-22. Memories of his past, of his family, his brother revolve mostly around music and he still hasn't been able to move beyond them. Pieces that remind him of home - especially things being played on violin - tend to upset him. On the other hand, he's loves to talk about music with others, showing that he has a fondness for jazz and swing. Despite his reluctance to play for anyone, he does enjoy it and could easily stay in the music room for hours on end.

Abilities:

Weapon - Soul can physically transform himself into a scythe. He doesn’t always have to transform completely. He can turn his entire arm into a blade, or he can transform just his forearm to make fighting a bit easier. Now that he’s a Death Scythe, he can choose to have the blade come out of his arm, instead of transforming any part of it.

Noise Canceling - This power was gained after defeating the witch Arachne. Through Maka, Soul is able to sense person’s soul wavelength which he interprets as a sound, not something visual. Using the piano in the black room he is able to produce a “reverse phrase signal” to nullify that wavelength, which directly affects a person’s abilities. Basically it’s like when something is so loud that it’s painful, but then someone is smart enough to go and turn the volume down. So, this ability is kind of self explanatory once you know how Soul senses wavelengths.

Black Blood - Inside his head is this little room called the Black Room. It’s inhabited by the Little Ogre/Little Demon who was “born” when Soul was first infected with the Black Blood. Upon activation, he can connect with everyone performing Soul Resonance with him. It gives him and his partner(s) a lot of strength and power. Which is awesome, but there’s a catch. Every time he uses it he, and possibly his partner, runs the risk of falling prey to madness and as such is used only as last resort. He’s managed to get a bit of control over the insanity and can draw out the strength of the Black Blood, but not the madness that goes along with it. It’s still all pretty new to him -- he doesn’t quite know it’s limits, or his for that matter, and it definitely puts a strain on him.

Anti-Demon Wavelength/Soul Perception - This is only possible during Soul Resonance with his Meister, Maka. The Anti-Demon wavelength protects him from insanity and Soul perception is just what it sounds like - the ability to perceive souls. As noted before, he hears them. He doesn’t see them like Maka can.

Piano - Soul thinks he is the worst pianist ever, but don’t listen to him because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. By playing the piano in the Black Room, he has the ability to manipulate Soul Wavelengths by treating them as music. The longer he plays, the more he is at risk of falling deeper into insanity.

*So what can he do with his amazing piano playing?*

• Can create a perfect Chain Resonance under impossible conditions by creating sound waves and a rhythm that all Soul Wavelengths resonating with him can follow. This makes them all much stronger and much more agile.

• By increasing the tempo of the song, his team members gain more attack speed. Certain chords increase their attack strength. He can also do the opposite, making him able to slow enemies down.

• Can spread Anti-Demon wavelength to others, sometimes over huge distances by using the power of Arachne’s spider webs as a medium between the piano and other people.

Form Manipulation - What it sounds like. He can change the appearance of his Weapon form.

Flight - Through Soul Resonance with Maka’s Grigori Soul, he can manifest wings in his Weapon form, allowing both him and Maka to fly.

Name: Xander
Personal Journal: [personal profile] der_glitzkrieg
Contact Info: AIM - derglitzkrieg
Other Characters Played: n/a
Preferred Housing: n/a

Character Name: Sol Badguy
Character Series: Guilty Gear
Character Age: Unknown, but an adult.
Background: http://guilty-gear.wikia.com/wiki/Sol_Badguy
Personality: Sol is typically a man of few words. Even people he's known for a long time are lucky to get more than a sentence out of him. He will be a man of even fewer words if you ask him about what he's doing or about his past. In canon, when asked by Crow about why he came to all the way to where he is, Sol responded with "I don't like you" and nothing else. He tells Ky that it's none of his business what he's doing.

He's very aloof to people he doesn't know and tends to barely respond to them at all. When approached by Bridget in canon, he ignores any questions directed at him. He's also very direct to those that are in his way. When Jam thinks Sol is responsible for burning down her restaurant, Sol just tells her to move. He doesn't mince words with people, making his dislike of them known. He tells people to their face that they're trouble or that he finds their existence grating. He constantly tries to get Axl to leave him alone in canon by either being rude to him or flat out ignoring him.

In spite of his usual disposition, Sol can be caring, it's just caring in a very Sol-like manner. He tells Millia to give up and go away when she says she's chasing I-no. He does this not out of arrogance, but out of concern for her well-being. He's also not ungrateful to people who give him information. He investigates a PWAB branch on the request of Potemkin after he's given info, even though he didn't really want to. He's also a man of his word and keeps promises, especially to those he's somewhat close to.

He's also fearless. He himself is nigh indestructible so he has little fear of being hurt. He is considered by the Post-War Administration Bureau to be an extreme threat and is noted as having powers surpassing all known limits. This is probably why he will fight anybody if given enough reason to.
Abilities: Sol is the prototype Gear, meaning that he's even more powerful than command-type Gears, which are already more powerful than an ordinary Gear. He can't be controlled by command-type Gears at all. He has extremely fast regenerative capabilities, he's physically stronger than any human, and he has powerful fire magic. The fire magic partially stems from the sword he wields, the Fuuenken. He can call on his Gear powers when in need and that makes him even more powerful. To put things in perspective, in canon he's viewed as more dangerous than a woman who destroyed an entire country by herself.

Xigbar | Kingdom Hearts II

[personal profile] as_iif 2012-02-07 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Geppetto
Personal Info: [personal profile] geppetto
Contact Info: [plurk.com profile] GeppettoMagic ; AIM: Geppetto0120
Other Characters Played: N/A
Preferred Housing: no preference

Character Name: Xigbar
Character Series: Kingdom Hearts II
Character Age: unknown, physically over 21
Background: Kingdom Hearts II
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Personality: Xigbar is a Nobody, which by definition in Kingdom Hearts canon is a being without a heart and therefore emotionless. However, many of the Nobodies have expressed real emotions and personalities, and Xigbar is no exception. Emotion doesn’t necessarily mean morality though; Xigbar has proven to be a sinister character. When he first appears chronologically as his human form, Braig, he is in cahoots with the main antagonist, master Xehanort. He also has pointed ears and glowing yellow eyes, which are symptoms of opening one’s heart to darkness, as shown by both Xehanort and Terra.

He is not the type to get his hands dirty with his schemes. When he fights Terra as a part of one of Xehanort’s plan to unleash the darkness in Terra’s heart, Braig’s eye is permanently wounded. He complains to Xehanort afterwards, “You said I wouldn’t get hurt! I didn’t sign up to be collateral damage!” Violence isn’t beneath him though, as he continues to fight throughout the other games. Instead, he prefers to sit back and watch, and strikes when it best serves him, as it fits his sniper style of fighting. In fact, in Kingdom Hearts II, Xigbar doesn’t even fight Sora until the very end of the game.

Xigbar’s general approach to situations is similar to his fighting style. He prefers to observe the action as a harmless and clueless spectator, when in truth he is far from harmless and know many secrets that others do not. He utilizes his spatial control abilities to spy on allies and enemies alike, and even knows many of the secrets of master Xehanort himself, such as his frequent visits to the Room of Awakening. *(reference) His desire to have the upper hand on information leads him to being inherently curious, even if he doesn’t always show it. He is one of the first to find Roxas, and he is the first to introduce Xion to the Organization. Throughout Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, he keeps a close watch on the both of them, not for the best of the Organization, but out of his own curiosity.

Xigbar is very detached from others and cares very little about the alliances he participates in. He sees others as tools to amuse himself with and to play out his motives. Despite his position as second in command of Organization Xiii, he puts little stock into the value of the group and its members. He even jokes about the deaths of five of the Organization members at Castle Oblivion, and makes a passing comment in the Kingdom Hearts manga about how he wished that Demyx had gone and been destroyed too. His interactions with others are almost exclusively attempts to harass them. However, his style of wit is typically lost on his less suspecting victims. As Braig, he tormented Ven and Aqua with the fact that Terra was succumbing to darkness. He subtly teases with nicknames too, such as calling Roxas ‘Tiger’ and ‘Kiddo,’ and calling Xion ‘Poppet’ as a mocking reference to her true form. Ultimately, he constantly calls Sora ‘Roxas’ and ‘Traitor’ because of Roxas’ abandonment of Organization XIII. Since Xigbar cares very little about the Organization, it’s clear that he’s only using the title of ‘Traitor’ to get at Sora’s nerves.

Abilities: Xigbar’s weapon of choice are a pair of purple and white arrowguns, which fire shards of energy. He also uses his ability to manipulate space and gravity to teleport around the battlefield, and even stand upside down and in mid-air. He can use his powers of space alteration to change the trajectory of his projectiles mid-flight. Like the other members of Organization XIII, Xigbar can open portals to the “world of darkness” to travel between worlds quickly.

Contact Info: AIM: gingerveer, Plurk: [plurk.com profile] Gingeyweasel
Other Characters Played: Accelerator, Bart Allen, Schrodinger, Aaron Stack, also apping Cornelia li Britannia
Preferred Housing: N/A

Character Name: Kuroko Shirai
Character Series: To Aru Majutsu no Index
Character Age: Probably around 13.
Background: Here.
Personality:
Kuroko Shirai is an individual with a strong sense of justice. Although she is merely a teenager, she works in law enforcement as an officer of “Judgment.” Essentially, it’s a student law enforcement agency that makes use of her city’s children’s Esper abilities and answer directly to the adult law enforcement agency, Anti-skill. She takes her duties as a member of Judgment very seriously, and enjoys bringing the hammer of justice down on lawbreakers. While she may complain about not wanting to on patrol from time to time, she always works her hardest when she is actually on the job. Additionally, she doesn’t tolerate any slacking from anyone else. She’s very strict with her partner, Uiharu, forever chastising her to stay on task. Her dedication has even earned her a reputation, as delinquents in the city whisper of a teleporter in Judgment who will "rip apart your body and soul if she catches you."

Kuroko is extremely emotional, and the best description for her would probably be “a spazz.” She tends to completely freak out and overreact to mundane problems like matters of love(but when extremely serious things come up, like Awaki Musujime stealing the Tree Diagram Remnant, she has shown herself to be capable of reacting with a level head). Her reactions tend to include things like screaming, running around in circles, and banging her head against things. Her overreactions certainly aren't helped by her overactive imagination, which often comes up with ridiculous worst case scenarios.

Kuroko is a shameless pervert. While she may be forced to wear her school uniform the vast majority of the time? She makes sure to wear the tiniest thong possible and has a tendency to go for skimpy outfits on the rare occasion that she gets to wear other clothes. For example, at one point she went out of her way to find the skimpiest skin-colored swimsuit possible, despite her friends' pleas to wear something that covered her better(it should be noted, however, that there is a practical side to her insistence on wearing as little clothing as possible as wearing because doing so makes it easier for her to teleport herself). She never shies away from telling anyone and everyone about her wild sexual fantasies and does not restrain herself from making sexual passes at the object of her affection, Mikoto Misaka, no matter how inappropriate they may be. Mikoto has made it clear that she is not interested, but this does not stop Kuroko's relentless sexual harassment. She uses her teleporting abilities to her advantage in these pursuits, doing things like teleporting into Mikoto's shower stall to harass her.

Kuroko is extremely loyal to the people she cares about, as well as being extremely obsessive. She may not seem like the best friend at first glance, but she'll always stand up for her friends and help them whenever they need it. There's nothing that pisses her off more than messing with them. Unsurpisingly, this loyalty reaches obsessive levels with Mikoto, because her affection for Mikoto leads to a lot of obsessive behavior. Kuroko will support her through anything and go to great lengths for her sake. As she is pretty much stalking Mikoto and is always sticking her nose in her business, she tends to know about the majority of her troubles(although Mikoto has successfully managed to hide her thousands of clones from Kuroko...so far), even the ones she tries to hide. Kuroko will often go behind Mikoto's back to help her because she does not want to worry her and/or isn't even supposed to know about her current troubles. While Kuroko may be obsessed with justice, she will compromise her usual morals for matters involving Mikoto.

Kuroko also gets jealous extremely easily. She does her best to prevent Mikoto from spending time with Touma Kamijou, the object of Mikoto's affections, and is very hostile to him because of his position as a romantic rival. She will even get jealous of Mikoto's other friendships, and gets very upset when Mikoto seems closer to one of them than her or does something with one of them she would not do with Kuroko/trusts one of them with something she wouldn't tell Kuroko. For example, when Mikoto thinks nothing of sharing food with one of their friends, Kuroko freaks out about how it's not fair that that friend got an "indirect kiss" from Mikoto and not her.

Abilities:
Kuroko is an Esper, which essentially means that her brain was altered so she could develop an ability when she as a child. As an Esper, she does 13th dimension calculations to teleport objects(including herself). However, her abilities do have a weight limit of 130.7 kilograms and a distance limit of 81.5 meters. Additionally, it should be noted that the calculations necessary for teleportation are extremely difficult and in order to use her powers at their full potential, she cannot be uncomfortable or distracted. For a teleporter, wearing comfortable clothing(and as little clothing as possible) and being completely and utterly focused are incredibly important.

[personal profile] pluckyreporter 2012-02-07 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
If you're looking for a passive damsel in distress, you best look elsewhere. Roxanne Ritchi, when we first meet her, is intelligent, emotional, and so very tired of being at the center of of someone else's world. The conflict between Metro Man and Megamind has defined her and by the time we meet her, she's pretty tired of it and completely unafraid to express it; she knows that she wouldn't be in any real danger. She runs her mouth fearlessly despite having alligators, flamethrowers and machine guns pointed at her -- she knows the game... and is genre savvy enough in Megamind's world to play it as an equal.

Roxanne's forthright, honest, and maybe a little commitment shy due to being a superhero's beard for a few years now. This isn't to say she wasn't emotionally invested in her relationship with Metro Man -- she takes his betrayal very personally and with no small amount of outrage, throwing everything she can manage to pick up at him for abandoning her and the city both. It'd probably be harder to forgive Metro Man for lying to her and the world (and leaving it to rot to pursue his 'dream') then she is over Megamind playing at being Bernard.

She takes charge without second thoughts, and is not afraid to pick up a strange gun and take the fight to the villain if she thinks it's necessary, as well as thinking on her feet; she's quick witted and smart, and not afraid to take wild leaps of faith to do what needs to be done, find the right answer to the mystery, or otherwise take action. She takes on Megamind in his own lair with no fear for herself (though she doesn't want people hurt for her sake; she tells 'Bernard' to run and save himself) in pursuit of the right thing, but is also not stupid - she knows when to cut and run when dealing Megamind, the Brain Bots and who knows what else in there.

In general, she feels most people are good at heart; even in her lousy assistant and Megamind, she can see where they could be decent people. It enables her to be a generally positive person, hoping for the best. She doesn't tend to dwell on bad times, and is quick to latch on to plans for the future, and work toward a better tomorrow. Sometimes she needs a push -- everybody does now and again -- but she's quick to rebound from hardship and pick herself up with a pluck and verve that Pollyana would be proud of.

In short: Roxanne's sassy and feisty, striving for independence in a world that limited hers, and maybe a little bit afraid of vulnerability-- but not afraid to confront that fear if she has to. Hopeful and always looking toward the next day and the next opportunity, she's a determined go-getter that looks forward to the next challenge. She's very much a woman in a superheroes' world where there are no super-women; she's the closest they get, and she rises to the challenge admirably. She wants to be taken seriously, and earns that right. Sure, she has to be rescued, but only because she was the only one who would try and face the villain down in the first place.

Abilities: None. Roxanne is baseline human.

[Phone, open]

Yes dear. [A cough, and the voice directs it into the phone – the full weight of the irritation in those two words are clear on the line as she redirects her attention to who might be listening.]

Yes, dear. I’ve never come to hate words like those two. I never really had the urge to get married and settle down – I mean, my life was always pretty complicated. But I know what I did want: a career, and to take care of myself, and to accomplish something.

I went to college for six years. I nearly screwed up my college career, but recovered and made something of myself. I worked hard to do so. I spent the next ten years being a superhero combat correspondent on the latest insanity that the boys got up to. I’m a woman in a male dominated field and I like it that way.

Now I am sitting here, considering my second mimosa of the morning and very likely to not do a damned thing beyond clean up a bit, read a book, and then wait for my imaginary kids to come back from imaginary school so I can pretend to give a damn.

I think this is worse than the waking up to a drone thing, really.

[She tries to get the bitterness out of her voice, and instead perks a bit, before she speaks again.]

So, ladies- who’s up for a cocktail lunch and maybe some bra burning? My place, twelve-thirty. Bring your own booze and bras. I don’t know how much burning we’ll get to, but I know at this point I could use a couple more stiff drinks and a nice lunch with somebody who gets it.

She was "born" -- or, rather, resurrected -- by Seiga in order to protect the resurrection of Toyasatomimi no Miko, but she does not understand the full extent of her role. Yoshika does not even fully understand what the big deal is about all the divine spirits gathering at the graveyard, or moving through it to the mausoleum. She even asks many of the protagonists exactly what spirits are; if they are tasty, or "easy to absorb". This is ironic, considering the fact that absorbing these spirits is exactly what gives her the ability to carry out her duty even when under attack. Kogasa is the one who complains about how hardy the jiang shi is, in that she enlists outside help in order to help beat Yoshika up.

Yoshika is also quite scatterbrained and forgetful. It's not her fault, really, but it is literally that her mind is rotted away. Yoshika often misinterprets phrases and the meanings of words if there are multiples. She thought "spirits" meant beverages, rather than the divine spirits gathering at the graveyard. When Youmu said she "reeked of the possibility" of being a zombie, Yoshika thought she was saying that she stinks! She will often forget people she only just recently met, though this happens mostly after a fight or after she has been freshly resurrected. No doubt she is not kept around for her brains, but her selling point as a "cute and rotten" underling for Seiga is her toughness.

The jiang shi has a bit of pride in her work, too. It is likely a combination of her obedience to Seiga and the ritual used to resurrect Yoshika, and her own will. She never gives intruders an easy time of getting through. Unfortunately, because of her stiff body and low mobility, she is nothing more than a speedbump for the protagonists as they progress through her stage, but she doesn't let it get her down. No matter how many times she arises to fight again, she goes about the situation with the same fervor as before. It is clear that Yoshika has some understanding of who is to be resurrected in the mausoleum, as Yoshika remarks that she will not let her (Miko) be trampled upon by the Myouren temple's inhabitants. ...but because of her rotten brain she forgets this detail roughly half the time in her encounters.

Yoshika can also be a bit melodramatic. When intruders approached her territory, she howled at them to go away, or be warned, or things like that. Despite not feeling pain, she also yowls and groans dramatically when she is defeated and sinks back into the ground. She also seems to have some sympathy for Youmu's half-ghost self, and the fact she's not immortal, too, commenting about how "dying's no good".

Also, she is somewhat proud of her complexion, as she looks rather good (if pale) for a corpse risen from the grave, which is also recognized by others. She's not particularly vain, but it seems to make her happy that others have noticed this.

Abilities: Like all bosses in Touhou Project games, Yoshika is able to use non-lethal elemental magic bullets (danmaku) for offense. She also has several special combinations of attacks usable as "spell cards" to overwhelm opponents with complex firing patterns of these bullets.

As a jiang shi (Chinese "hopping" vampire, bearing great resemblances to classic zombie), Yoshika possesses a few additional skills. While her body can "die" or be blown to pieces, she feels no pain. She is able to regenerate herself through the ingestion of spirits, supposedly consuming their energy to repair damage to her body. Yoshika can also be reactivated through the intervention of her master, Seiga Kaku (or, really, anyone who uses the same techniques to bind her to service with the appropriate rituals). Through her bite, she is also able to temporarily infect others, turning them into jiang shi allies.

Sample Entry:
Hey, lady. Get up.

[ The voice comes from somewhere above her, but Yoshika doesn't even stir. She's too comfortable where she is laying at the moment. ]

C'mon, dollface. We gotta get to work and you're in the way.

[ "Work"? She knows something about the concept of working, but doesn't see how she would be in the way. Yoshika is enjoying some rest, despite the cold feeling all around her. It brings back memories that have become vague with the time she has spent in Mayfield.

Finally, two strong pairs of hands are hooked under her arms and pull her up into warmer, brighter air. She gasps and her eyes shoot open. ]
Waah! Who's there? What's going on!?

[ The men — construction workers, dressed in denim, with their dirty white t-shirts, suspenders and hardhats — let go of her and take a step back. ] We said, you're in the way, doll. Why don't you run on home, now, before your man misses his dinner or something.

[ The jiang shi turns stiffly in place to regard the man who spoke up with a perplexed stare. ] I have a man? What does that mean? [ The small crowd of workers gathered around her laugh. ] Don't be like that. Just run along and let us get to what we need to do, okay?

Do? [ Yoshika looked down at her feet. She was currently standing in a deep, square hole in the ground, one dug in the middle of someone's yard. Around her were shovels, mounds of dirt and wheelbarrows full of gravel and heavy stone blocks. The spot had looked so empty and inviting, she mistook it for a place to rest! But the construction workers were obviously put out by her attempts at blocking off work on redoing the stone walkway in this house's yard. ] You were working?

Alright, alright, that's enough. Boys? Show her the way outta here, alright? [ And that's when she was picked up over and slung over a pair of square shoulders, though she just hung there like a ragdoll as she was carried off of the property. ] Wait, can't I sleep a little longer? That's much better than a bed! Doooon't maaaake meeee goooo baaaack too theee beeeeeeeeeedd!!!

++ For an additional sample of her voice, I have a Dear Mun post here. There won't be much internalization, ever, because her thought process is pretty... limited. ++

Kyouko Kasodani / Housing Change app

Name: gonsai
Personal LJ: gonsai
Contact Info: aim=gonsaifong
Other Characters Played: Patchouli, Virginia, Tir, Dizzy
Preferred Housing: 436 Peepers, an empty house currently

Character Name: Kyouko Kasodani
Character Series: Touhou Project
Character Age: Unknown, but she'd definitely go in a child slot.
Background: Touhou Wiki article

Personality:
"She lives in the mountains, and when she hears a joyous sound, she replies back with a loud voice. A good youkai with kind heart."

Kyouko is among a race of youkai called yamabiko which don't partake in the normal terrorizing of humans that some youkai do. In spite of her jokes about "filling the morning with their screams", Kyouko is generally nice to the heroes of the story (except for Youmu, for reasons to be described later). She is kind spirited and will try to help out anyone that needs it. It's just her way, really.

Being a neophyte of the Myouren Temple, Kyouko studies Buddhism quite extensively, and tries to reflect the principles of that faith. She can echo sutras from memory, and will often quote various sutras and precepts as the time calls for it ("Greetings are the heart's oasis.") when going about her duties. Given her primary duty is to greet temple visitors, her audio memory comes in great handy. It also helps that she's cute.

Kyouko is also very enthusiastic. It may be because she's young, but she has great energy, even for as early in the morning as her scenes in canon take place. Before dawn she is sweeping, cooking, greeting visitors, accepting challenges from interlopers, and basically preparing the whole temple before anyone else is even awake. Her energy channels into her greeting, giving a hearty "Good morning!" to the heroes, far louder than some would expect (much to Marisa's annoyance, actually). She goes about everything with this sort of gusto, and is all smiles during.

One thing she doesn't tolerate is killing. When Youmu shows up at Myouren with her swords drawn, Kyouko treats her far faaar differently than she did the other heroes. She becomes aggressive and righteous, shaming Youmu for daring to kill anyone, be they fairies or youkai. Youmu, of course, hadn't killed anyone at all, but Kyouko jumped to the conclusion anyways and attacked with a fury the other heroes were not subject to. Whether this had to do with her Buddhist training or something deeper in her past is unknown.

Now for a bit of headcanon/filling in the blanks.

There is something of a depressing point to be made about the matters that drove Kyouko (and others like her) to Myouren Temple to begin with. Given it's a temple for youkai, they often take in those with nowhere left to go. Human reason and science forced Kyouko out of her home in the mountains, her entire existence threatened by the denial of the supernatural. Even with her constant smile and high energy, there is that weight still carried with her. She doesn't show it often, and prefers to not talk about it, but it's still very much reality.

It is thought, perhaps, that her darker treatment of Youmu has something to do with this. The idea of dying, of being killed or wiped out, frightens her deeply. Existence for youkai born outside of Gensokyo is extremely grim. They have no protection from xenophobic humans, who would wipe out youkai either directly or indirectly by no longer respecting their existences. Kyouko is no exception to this, as she was likely born outside Gensokyo.

She attached herself to Buddhism because she honestly had nothing left. The emptiness of secularism was frightening, threatening to pretty much unmake her. Now, with spirituality on her side, she echoes sutras in the mountains of Gensokyo, retaining her place in the way of the world as a youkai. And it scares some humans, too. That's always a nice bonus. But what she really wants is for them to believe again...

Abilities: Kyouko is a yamabiko, and therefore shares some of their traits, namely the long floppy ears. While it is not canon that she has a tail, huge amounts of fanart depict her with one (mostly because some of the ancient artwork of yamabiko have them. also probably because she resembles a dog).

Executor Darkleer | Homestuck | Not reserved

Name: Kathryn
Personal Journal: missazrael
Contact Info: Plurk: missazrael
Other Characters Played: none
Preferred Housing: I would actually prefer to have him placed, at least initially, in a house with drones. He's going to hate everyone who he has to live with anyway, so it would be easier and less damaging for him to hate drones instead of actual players.

Character Name: Executor Darkleer
Character Series: Homestuck
Character Age: Unclear, but he's definitely an adult, and also a long-lived highblood, so let's say around one hundred and fifty sweeps, or a little over three hundred years.
Background:Darkleer is from the Homestuck universe, and is the ancestor to Equius Zahhak. What we know about him comes from Mindfang's journal entries and Doc Scratch's retelling of the story of the Signless.

Darkleer was an Archeradicator, the very position that Equius strove towards, and it is inferred that he was fairly high up in on the ladder, considering he had the title of Executor and was given the task of killing the Signless. He shot and killed Signless successfully, but when it came time to shoot the Disciple, he was unable to do it and refused orders, giving her time to escape. This led to his banishment and he became the Expatriot Darkleer. Mindfang, however, still kept in contact with him, and visited him after her battle with Redglare to get a debt repaid by having him build her an arm. She mentions that he was still lamenting what happened that led to his banishment, but doesn't go into much detail beyond that. Finally, Mindfang left the white cue ball that would later lead Vriska and Terezi to ruin with Darkleer, because Doc Scratch couldn't see it if it was with Darkleer.

Executor Darkleer | Homestuck | Not reserved

[personal profile] sagitterrifying 2012-02-08 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Like all the ancestors in Homestuck, we don't know much about Darkleer directly; however, we can infer quite a bit based on the little we do know, and also on Equius and his behavior patterns.

Darkleer is a blueblood, one of the highest landtrolls on the hemospectrum, and as such, is an aristocrat. Manners and customs and proper behavior are very important to him, as they were to Equius, and after many sweeps of constantly observing every social nuance, almost all his joy and spontaniety have been sucked away, and he's a deeply serious individual. Like his descendant, he has no love for games, unless they're high stakes, and expects everyone around him to take him as seriously as he takes himself.

Besides being an aristocrat, Darkleer is also a high ranking soldier, and this also affects his personality. We can assume he had men under his command, and he would take their safety seriously and protect them while in combat. This translates, somewhat, into being protective and distantly caring towards those he's close to, but those are few and far between. Vriska and Equius snipe at each other all the time but have a fairly successful working relationship, and it appears that Mindfang and Darkleer have the same. Beyond the unspecified debt which Darkleer owes her, he has no reason to help Mindfang, and given Mindfang's personality, if the debt were something big she would probably brag about it in her journal. Because she doesn't, we can infer that perhaps that debt wasn't anything too major, and Darkleer was helping her because he chose to and for no other reason.

We also see indications that Darkleer is a meticulous and logical troll. Like his descendant, he has considerable skill in mechanics and biomechanical technology, which requires logic and careful planning to be able to execute. Also, he has survived well into adulthood in a society that thrives on backstabbing and double-crossing, so he's not dumb, by any means. Equius' dumber moments can be blamed on his youth, but Darkleer is past all that. He understands how things work, sees no point in fixing what isn't broken, and just powers onward.

However, Darkleer is not completely immobile and static. He does break with tradition and disobey orders when he spares the Disciple, giving us an inkling that perhaps he has the same doubts about the hemospectrum that his descendant inherits. As a blueblood he'll have an extended lifespan, and as a soldier and Executor, he's seen many trolls die, and somewhere along the line, he began to question things, leading to the Disciple being spared. It's unclear why he chose to do that, but we do know he is still upset about it much later, so he isn't the emotionless husk he pretends to be. Maybe, deep down, he really does need other trolls around, since banishment doesn't seem to be agreeing with him.

Abilities: Like Equius, Darkleer is STRONG, although he's had the time and determination to learn how to work around it. He's a gifted archer and a skilled mechanic, and is also smart enough to survive sweeps of blueblood treachery and backstabbing.

We can also assume that Darkleer is a Void player, much like Equius, both for his ability to hide the cue ball from Scratch and also because Equius' planet in Sgrub looks identical to Darkleer's hive. While this is one of the more passive powers, this gives him the ability to hide and blend into his surroundings, to pass without notice despite his immense size.

Mac | Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

Character Name: Mac (no last name revealed in canon...you guys can give him one)
Character Series: Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
Character Age: 8
Background:
I can't find a wiki link that I like, so I will tackle this section myself! Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends takes place in a world where it's the norm for kids to think up real, physical, sentient imaginary friends. But just like in our world, and despite having imaginary friends that are just as intelligent as they are and become a part of their families, kids eventually outgrow their imaginary friends. When that happens, imaginary friends are left to tough it out on the streets...or they would be if it weren't for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends! This gigantic foster home, run by an eccentric old lady who never gave up her imaginary friend, provides a home for imaginary friends whose creators have outgrown them while also making an effort to get them adopted by new kids.

This home is where the bulk of the show takes place. In the first episode we meet Mac, and eight-year-old boy whose mother has laid down an ultimatum: get rid of his five-year-old imaginary friend, Bloo, or else. Mac and Bloo are best friends and don't want to leave each other...fortunately, Bloo sees an ad for Foster's on the television and, through a series of shenanigans, their problems are solved. They strike up a deal with Madame Foster that stipulates that as long as Mac visits the home every day, Bloo will never be up for adoption and can remain his imaginary friend.

In essence, the show is about Mac, Bloo, and their friends at Foster's having various adventures from day to day.

Personality:
Mac is a bright, creative kid, level-headed and good at problem-solving. Many episodes revolve around him devising plans to help his friends out of dilemmas.

Mac seems to be pretty mature for his age; at times he almost acts like a parent, particularly where Bloo is concerned. Mac often scolds Bloo for getting into things or doing things he knows are against the rules. He is also quick to comfort anyone he sees in distress, especially those that are younger than him (or act younger than he does, as some of the imaginary friends do).

Mac lives in a single parent househould, his immediate family members being his mother and older brother. His mom works long hours and generally isn't home until dinnertime; his older brother is a thirteen-year-old terror who doesn't even know the meaning of the word responsibility. Mac is often bullied by his brother when they're at home alone. This situation possibly explains some of Mac's maturity, since his brother certainly doesn't step up to help out around the house and someone has to keep it clean when their mom isn't around.

On that note, Mac doesn't show any special aversion to doing chores or schoolwork. In fact, he tends to have an attitude of "the sooner I do this, the sooner I can have fun" and often helps out with chores at Foster's. In several episodes he can be seen doing such chores around Foster's as scrubbing floors, sweeping, helping out in the kitchen, and working in the yard. In one episode in particular he does quite a bit of paperwork at Foster's so that Frankie, the proprietor's granddaughter, can have a night of fun on the town--when she questions whether or not Mac can handle it, he explains with a shrug that he files tax returns for his mother so he's comfortable with it. In another episode the house manager, Mr. Harriman, leaves Mac with the responsibility of filling out adoption paperwork without supervision.

Mac thinks that following the rules is important, and seems to have a minor fear of getting in trouble/being scolded by adults. On the flip side of this, if he encounters a rule that he thinks is unfair he's likely to rebel against it. There are some episodes in which he discovers rules of the house and protests against them, usually with ridiculous results such as unleashing a horde of sentient scribbles on the house...

Despite his many instances of responsibility, maturity, and outright coolness, Mac can also be a typical kid. At times his thinking can be selfish--for example, he tries to sabotage an adoption day at the home because he doesn't want his friends to be adopted and never see them again, even though they want to be adopted--and he also gets into his fair share of trouble. He'll scold Bloo for making fun of other imaginary friends but has no issues mocking his older brother, for instance, and he also enjoys such activities as rolling around in the mud, playing pranks on others, and occasionally doing something crazy like breaking things.

Mac can also get pretty jealous sometimes. This usually comes out when Bloo decides he suddenly has another best friend, and can occasionally be the case when Frankie or one of his other close imaginary friends is too distracted to spend time with him. Mac gets frustrated when he's jealous, and will often try to sabotage whoever it is that he feels is ruining his friendship or his fun. Though it should be noted that in many cases he will try to be nice and just insert himself into the activities he's being left out of before getting frustrated.

On the whole, though, Mac is a very loyal friend who typically shows more maturity than the average eight year old. He has a large range of hobbies and activities he enjoys--everything from playing videogames and watching TV to playing ball, playing pretend, playing board games...basically, he loves doing things that kids love to do. He even has some mechanical skill, which he uses to further hobbies such as soapbox derby racing (he and Bloo build their own racer, just for fun).

Abilities: Mac is extremely sensitive to sugar, and upon consuming it he wigs out and basically turns into a little demon child. He isn't really any stronger or faster in this state than he normally is, it just seems that way because he becomes so hyperactive, often attacking other people to try and force them to give him more sugar to keep his high going. These sugar-induced fits usually end in Mac going into withdrawal, eventually passing out, and presumably waking up with one hell of a hangover.

Personality: Leon Has always had a strong sense of justice joining the police force and later the Bioterrorism Assessment alliance purely to help people in need as demonstrated by his assistance of Ada Wong and Claire Redfield during the Raccoon incident. Back when he first joined the Raccoon;police department he was your stereotypical rookie, being confused and scared when the T-virus broke out.

However after the rigorous training regime for the Bioterrorisim Assessment alliance, he became somewhat of a "badass" so to say being largely fazed by the terrors of the Las Plagas outbreak, although he still seems to nurse a soft spot for old friend Ada Wong. He has also been known to be very snarky.

He has always feared the happening of another Racoon city Incident, mainly fearing the death of hundreds of innocents. although when on a mission he puts these emotions away becoming a cold killing machine who can push its way through any Incident.

[personal profile] racoonalloveragain 2012-02-09 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
A little more personality:Leon Kennedy matures significantly from Resident Evil 2 to Resident Evil 4. Leon is more world-weary, jaded, and extremely sarcastic. The blind faith in people we see in Resident Evil 2 is replaced with a marked cynicism. Of course, you have to read between the lines for this, because he's more action that talk this time around. You would be too, if hoards angry Spaniards were trying to ram a dirty pitchfork down your throat. Still, if you compare Leon S. Kennedy with your typical video game Macho-Guy, Leon talks a lot. Leon's strong dedication to his duty has remained completely intact. Although for this go-around, he has to deal with plenty more improbable and ridiculous scenarios! He accomplishes all of his feats flawlessly and with characteristic gusto. On a note that is unrelated to his personality, Leon has gained an incredible arsenal of acrobatic stunts from his government training. Actually, his abilities and antics are exaggerated to a ridiculous level at times.
