Applications

• Please read over all the rules and information before applying in order to minimize any confusion before joining.

• If applying for a character that has already been dropped, it would be a good idea, though not required, to know something of their previous interactions. You are also free to pick up a dropped character with no memories of their previous time in Mayfield.

• All content for the personality and sample entry in your app must be written or roleplayed by you; for the personality section in particular, we do not accept copied text from wikis or other sources. Obviously, you may not copy your app from other players, whether in Mayfield or other games. Application plagiarism will result in a ban from the game.

• If you wish for your character to be placed in a specific house, please mention this in the relevant section of the application and specify that permission was obtained by the PCs already residing in that house. We will be operating by the Honor System for this, and there is no need for others to comment their permission in this post!

• Other special requests would also best go in the beginning of the application. Remember, grammar and spelling are important -- if your app contains errors, you will be asked to revise.

• Please post all applications or canon updates in this post; posting them elsewhere and linking to them from here may cause them to get changed later. Posting them here keeps us from having to save them.

When Applying, Fill Out the Following:

When Applying for an Original Character, Fill Out the Following

• Before applying, please look over any applications that were recently accepted to get an idea of what we're looking for.

• If you apply for a character that has already been reserved, we will inform you and ignore the application until the reserve runs out. You may not apply for more than two characters from the same canon. For the sample entry, you may write your own entry, or use a post from a musebox, dressing room, or other game. We recommend [community profile] testrun_box if you prefer the latter!

• After you're accepted, please follow all of the instructions given. You will need to reply to the acceptance, post your journal to the friend add page and your canon post, join the communities, and use the friend add page to update your journal. Once you're accepted, please introduce yourself on the community when you're ready to play.

• If your app is "Pending", do not freak out! This means that we need you to make some revisions, and does not mean you're rejected. We generally give players a chance to revise before rejecting them, but we will reject apps that do not address the concerns stated when we asked for a revision. If you have been rejected, our reply will clearly state this to be the case. If we have not gotten back to you yet, under no circumstance does this mean you are rejected. If it has been over a week since our last reply, it would be a good idea to contact us with a reminder, otherwise, please be patient!

• If you have received a "Pending" notice, you will have one week to supply us with your revisions, or your reserve will be considered expired and that someone else is free to apply for the character.

• The typical wait for a reply on apps may be anywhere from a day to a little over a week. If any part of your application requires a pending, it may be another week after your reply to that before we can get to you. We process a high volume of apps every round, so please be patient.

If you have not heard back on a pending for over a week after apps close, please send a PM directly to the mod account.

Shilo Wallace | Repo! The Genetic Opera | not reserved

[personal profile] perfectandelegant 2012-02-09 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Jen
Personal Journal: [personal profile] preternatural
Contact Info: AIM: sevencoloured/prospit dreamer; [plurk.com profile] countermelody
Other Characters Played: Sakuya Izayoi, Feferi Peixes, Usagi Tsukino, Martha Jones, Seiga Kaku
Preferred Housing: I'd strongly prefer Shilo be placed in the same house as Nathan Wallace and Blind Mag, who are apping this round. Permission's granted from all three!

Character Name: Shilo Wallace
Character Series: Repo!: The Genetic Opera
Character Age: 17
Background: here
Personality: On the outside, Shilo looks like a very delicate girl. She's ill much of the time, and kept inside and away from the world by her father. Why? A hereditary blood condition, passed on by her mother, that could kill her without her medicine. She claims to be merely defined by her illness and its symptoms and the constraints upon her. Most of her life, she's been confined to one room, one bed, one fate; delicacy almost seems like her only option.

While she might seem fragile, upon closer inspection, Shilo is far from delicate. There's a duality to her, that seems to vary between bitterness, anger, and sadness to moments of clarity and even rash actions.

She's rebellious at times, sneaking out of the house to visit her mother's grave, or collect insects, and she continues to do it even after being caught by the authorities and nearly killed. Shilo is curious about the world. It's a grim, dystopian one that she sees when she looks out her window, but she wants to experience it nonetheless. She finds the beauty where she can in her world, everything from brightly-colored butterflies that she keeps in display cases to music. She adores music, and she idolizes the singer Blind Mag. She's ecstatic when she finally meets her.

But the curiosity doesn't come without some fear. For as much as Shilo wants to explore the world and meet people, she also tends to shrink away when pressed too hard too soon. All she can do is be afraid of the Graverobber, even as she seems fascinated with him. It's most poignant with Blind Mag - after first briefly meeting Shilo at Sanitarium Square, Mag comes to the Wallace home to see her. Shilo shies away, explaining that she wasn't supposed to have people inside, even as Mag tells her that's not the way.

While she does shrink away from people, at the same time, Shilo learns that she doesn't have to be afraid of conflict. She can hold her own in a confrontation - the first time we see this is in her first interaction with Amber Sweet. Amber tries to get a rise out of Shilo, but the younger girl doesn't say anything to aggravate it. It's a trait that only grows from that point. She stands up to her father, and in the end? She even stands up to the destiny that is supposedly laid out for her.

Abilities: Other than Shilo's blood disease and its assorted symptoms - low blood pressure, risk of fainting, hair loss, and a heightened sensitivity to other illnesses - she's a normal human girl.

Sample Entry:

[It's been a little while since Shilo's arrival in Mayfield. Things have been...interesting, over the past few weeks, but she's also learned a lot more about people in those three weeks than she had up till now. Who knew being a 'normal teenager' meant doing the same things adults do back home?]

Hello, everyone. It's Shilo again.

Anyone ever get the feeling that they understand both more and a lot less about people than they did before they got here? I thought I knew about people, just from observing from the window. What I got was that most of them were self-centered and didn't care about anything other than their looks and their social status.

I'm not wrong, about the ones at school. But I see people here who aren't doing that. It's as weird as it is fascinating. I didn't see very many people like that.

Character Name: Hayate Yagami
Character Series: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (Vivid)
Character Age: 23
Background: http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Hayate_Yagami

Personality: Hayate is a multifaceted character, portraying several traits that distinguish her from various people. At the core she is a sweet girl with the need to have a family, a need created out of her illness as a child that crippled her legs and with no parents of her own. The arrival of her Knights and their actions to cure her, had infused Hayate with hope, and she became inseparable from her family, as well as becoming one of the famous Aces with Nanoha and Fate. She loves to read books, having grown up with them, and hates feeling helpless to do anything. Even as a child when her legs had given out on her, she insisted on cooking and cleaning for the family.

Over the years Hayate grew into a desk jockey, able to multitask work that requires long tedious hours. Her maturity is only stemmed by the fact that she sometimes acts like an irresponsible adult, playing jokes, making mischief and groping people. In Sound Stage X, it is implied that Hayate is a chronic groper and habitual pervert. This, stemmed with her need to dress people up in costumes has given her an outlook that blends fun with responsibility.

She is definitely a motherly type, and loves her family dearly, having raised them from mere knights to proud members of the Yagami Household. Anyone who has managed to win her heart becomes immediately beloved as a member of her dearest people, and she goes out of her way to enrich their experiences in life. She loves keeping the girls in her family dressed up and pretty, while teaching them about life and things such as cooking and cleaning, no matter how bad they are at it (Shamal).

On the battlefield, Hayate is nearly useless unless she has Reinforce to do the calculations for her, or a team of people preparing the aim of the spell. She is the equivalent of a nuclear weapon, only deployed when you really want something blown up good. She admits this in the manga, citing that she'd prefer to be behind a desk instead of out in the field. Her sense of duty and responsibility is well separated from her daily home life, but if Hayate could have it her way, she'd rather keep everyone safe with the actions of others.

Abilities: http://nanoha.wikia.com/wiki/Hayate_Yagami#Powers

Hayate's spellcasting power is, as indicated a SS level, which has been augmented by her Linker Core merging with the Tome of Azure Sky, and will be adjusted accordingly during the course of regains. Her spells and abilities are indicated as such, and while she has limitless potential, her powers suffer from bad aim and difficulty to multitask. At the level of it, one of her big spells, Diabolic Emission can easily wipe out a mountain if used.

She also sports a Knight Armor which is the last line of defence for protection, and will regain this piece of equipment back as well. Her spells are all critically destructive on the outset and will be regained one at a time. Equipped with shields and flight spells, Hayate is the last line of offensive power on the battlefield, but the first to leave due to her inability to handle the enormous amount of power that she wields without aid.

Sample Entry:

[Action - At Work]
[Being the wife in a domestic setting was nice for the most part, but being able to work only 'feminine' jobs was kind of a let down. Still, she had secured a place in the library shelving books and it brought back memories of her childhood.

It wasn't anything like she expected though, considering that the books were either 'How to Make 100 Casserole Dishes' to 'Sewing and You'. The creepy obsession with the 1950s stereotype was kind of making Hayate queasy in her own way.]

Maybe I should try to find something to read after this...

[Anywhere in Town]
[Shopping for food was something she was intimiately familiar with, being that she provided for herself for many years, and then helped a group of people grow into their roles. Still, she clucked her tongue at the prices. They were horribly inflated that day even for the prices that were typically found during the time period they were supposively inhabiting.

Waving the grocery boy over, she held up an orange, and put on her best 'Fussy Lady' powers.]

Young man, I've got a complaint. Three for a dollar? That's highway robbery! They're at least worth sixty cents for five. I mean look at the condition these are in! They're mushy on the inside, and the skin is broken on many of them. I demand a lower price for these, or I will find my business at Grovers instead of Barnums!

[The young man whimpered and stammered an apology, and soon Hayate was loaded with good produce for the best prices. As she left the store, she grinned, having made out like a bandit.]

Still got it.

[Event]
[Hayate kept running. There was nothing for it, and those horrible things were after her. She had no powers, and only a stick in her hand. Hurdling a fallen log, or maybe that was a charred person, she kept running and running and running. Her lungs burned and she realized she really was reduced to squishie mage, emphasis on squishie.

Feeling helpless, Hayate wiped blurred sweat and tears from her face. They were getting closer, and she was left with one last option. There really wasn't anything for it, and Hayate inhaled as she turned the corner, daring to raise her voice in this absolutely frustrating, and horrifying. situation.]

[personal profile] thepurpleway 2012-02-09 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Background: Gakupo Wiki Page
I'll be providing an elaboration on this page below.

Gakupo was created by INTERNET CO.to be the, well, purplest of all the singing androids. This company, which excels at spewing out successful artists, is just one of the major ones that create musical, highly advanced machines to sing hit song after hit song in the entertainment sphere. His entire demeanor reeks of chivalry, honor, discipline, and musical talent. Although the talent part is not as recognized as the other, more popular androids of the Vocaloid family, he doesn't let that get him down. He's proud that they're getting far! He may be a bit worried about being left behind, though. The life of a musician is surely fast paced.

Along with being a musical entertainer, he's a skilled warrior of the rainbow, noisy blade, although mostly self taught through kendo during whatever free time he has. Gakupo simply refused to merely download the necessary information on being a proper samurai. Trial and error were better educators. He does live up to the Seven Virtues of Bushido, but he may not be perfect at it. Bushido being the code of conduct most samurai lived by, as well as most of Japanese society. Even in modern day Japan, such conduct is still upheld to some degree. He stumbled across this teaching while on a national tour in Japan. The aesthetics of Bushido appealed to him, and his creators did design him with an image that represented a samurai, if only to appeal to the female crowd. Who doesn't like a knight in shining armor? It was fate that he should become focused on the Seven Virtues.

No. 1
Rectitude (義 GI): this virtue is the ability to make a decision, respecting all equally.

No.2
Courage (勇 YU): This Virtue is the ability to handle any situation.

No. 3
Benevolence (仁 JIN): This Virtue is to prevent arrogance with in one's self.

No. 4
Respect (礼 REI): This virtue is to have respect for all.

No. 5
Honesty (誠 MAKOTO): This virtue is the ability to do things to the best of our ability.

No. 6
Honor (名誉 MEIYO): This virtue is sought after, but only follows correct behaviour.

No. 7
Loyalty (忠義 CHUUGI): This virtue is the foundation of all the virtues, without dedication and loyalty to the task at hand, the desired outcome cannot be achieved.

His reasoning behind wanting to take up this path is to make himself more than just a singer. More than just a robot. He actually very much dislikes the term 'robot'. There will be a frown and an ensuing conversation on the differences between the two, at least what he believes them to be. Of course, he was created for music, the one language he believes to be spoken in any country, but INTERNET Co. gave the Vocaloid family leeway to define themselves and possess a more humanistic trait.

Grell Sutcliff | Kuroshitsuji | Reserved

[personal profile] redcinemareel 2012-02-09 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Background: Wiki Page I'll be taking Grell from Chapter 64, right before Ronald Knox collides with Grell.

Personality:
I will be using the female pronoun throughout this application, as that is usually how Grell refers to himself throughout the manga, and for coherency sake.

In her disguise as a butler, Grell is meek, clumsy, and has a a tendency to try to dramatically kill herself over mishaps that she creates. But as a death god, Grell is expressive, and most things are embellished in the purplest of prose when it comes to things she is passionate about. She holds nothing back, which makes her seem over-the-top. She tends to have a theatrical way of speaking, sometimes using allusions or metaphors, for example, to describe people and situations. Right off the bat we can already see that Grell truly lives up to her vivid red hair, and that she dislikes anything mundane. She'll make it a personal mission to spice things up.

She has the ability to be compassionate, but this trait would only surface when something can hold a particular interest for her, such as Madame Red's murderous rampage. She could relate to her as Grell yearns for a child of her own but cannot bear children because she is male. In the end she is still a death god, and the affairs of humans are merely for amusement. Deep down, she doesn't really care what happens to a human. As long as things remain captivating, she will go along with whatever plan.

Grell believes a true lady must always care about her appearance, and because of that she is overtly vain and protective of her looks, going so far as to wear false eyelashes and nail polish to complete her style. She takes great offense to anyone who says otherwise, and with an already slightly unstable mind, Grell can become easily angered, perhaps even violent over a mere insult. She is infatuated with the color red, and will go to great lengths to see the beautiful shade splashed all over. The thrill of a good fight only heightens her anticipation at seeing warm crimson rivers flowing along the battlefield and gushing like a wondrous fountain from her enemies. Another obsession she has is for men who play hard to get. She loves a challenge, which could be her downfall if exploited by others.

As a death god, Grell is desensitized to human life, seeing it as not holding much meaning. Viewing so many cinematic records leads her to assume that no one life is different from the next. Sure there are exceptions, but on the whole this is her primary belief.

Life is nothing but a play, with humans taking on various roles, and in turn Grell doesn't take life too seriously. It is why she does everything with zest (besides paperwork). Grell's been a reaper for centuries, so why live life only halfway? She does have her moments of seriousness, but they tend to be only when necessary. Her suspension due to her rule breaking actions has made her sober up a bit, but she truly has no regrets about what she had done. Why should she? It would change nothing.

Character Name: Gilgamesh of Uruk, the King of Kings, etc, etc.
Character Series: Fate/Ataxia
Character Age: Early 100s
Background: Type-Moon Wiki;

2/3

[personal profile] pridefall 2012-02-09 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Gilgamesh is a God-King of one of the first "proper" societies of the ancient world, and and acts as such: he believes himself to be the greatest of all Kings, that everything and everyone is owed to him and must belong to his Kingdom. He will never tell a lie or mislead someone from his true intents -- as he believes this "cheapens" his image -- and is never, ever wrong. Ever. There is nothing that Gilgamesh will not do to get what he wants, no place or person too sacred for him to deify, and there is certainly no person or thing too strong for him to subdue and break to his will. This side of Gilgamesh is the "Old-World" Gilgamesh; he is the Gilgamesh who turned away the love of Ishtar on whim alone, the Gilgamesh who loved war and death, who killed his allies simply because they failed him once. He is a tyrant, arrogant in the extreme and just as callous, a king who damned his people to poverty and strife simply because the gods had taken away his one and only friend, Gilgamesh the God-killer.

There is another side to Gilgamesh, however: while it is true that he is an outright bastard most of the time, the "true" Gilgamesh is a man that only a select few have ever seen. This Gilgamesh is a proud, noble savage -- all he wants is to rule justly and fairly without the influence of old, callous gods. This side of Gilgamesh is the one who wept for Enkindu's death, and the one who Saber saw a flash of before his death: the Gilgamesh who took on all of the sins of humanity just because he believed no one else should be so cursed, the God-King ready to lay down his life for his people, damning the consequences so long as the world was allowed to continue.

This Gilgamesh is the one we see in Ataraxia: he is the child -- and young adult, in the end -- who builds an amusement park just because his friends needed a place to play, the Gilgamesh who unleashes his strength to protect Fuyuki City when the Mukuro come, potentially laying down his life to give Emiya -- who essentially asked himself: "How does this kid grow up to be a douche?" when he first saw Tiny!Gilgamesh -- the chance to succeed.

The second personality is the one that "stuck" the most, as Gilgamesh eventually rid himself of the sins of humanity by reverting by to a child at the beginning of the last game he was in.

He's still kind of a douche, though. Just slightly nicer about it.

Abilities:
o NOBLE PHANTASMS; like every other Servant, Gilgamesh has access to several magical weapons and artifacts tied in with who he is in the mythology of the world -- in this case, Gilgamesh possesses the Gate of Babylon, which allows him to use the original form of every mythological weapon, artifact, and the like that has ever been spoken of in the many different mythologies of the world.

The most common weapons and items that he uses, canon-wise, are located in list format here, though he isn't really trained to use more than three of them; the grand majority of them he merely "fires" out of the gate, like arrows.

o TWO-THIRDS DIVINE; Through his divine heritage, Gilgamesh is superhuman in every sense of the word. He possess enough strength to cleave through steel, enough fortitude to be immune to all mundane diseases, enough stamina to fight for days at a time, and enough speed to outrun the naked human eye in short bursts. Because he is only two-thirds divine, however, he is no way truly immortal, and can be killed by normal means.

o INDEPENDENT SERVANT PROPERTIES; As an ARCHER-class servant, Gilgamesh was once required to bond himself to a master to keep from disappearing when summoned to this plane of existence. Due to several events in canon, however, he was given a physical body, meaning that he has no need for a master to supply him with the magical energy -- Prana -- that each Servant needs to survive. Instead, Gilgamesh survives by absorbing souls, and is, for all intents and purposes, a being composed of hundreds of thousands of densely packed human souls comprising a single, extremely "hard" soul. (I know, I know, it's hard to explain.)

This is only worth noting because the "hardness" of his soul(s) makes it so that only attacks dealing damage to the soul (or are extremely powerful magic attacks) can manage to harm him. His body naturally heals any other kind of damage.

Mrs. Lovett || Sweeney Todd || Reserved

[personal profile] sticktopriest 2012-02-09 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Mrs. Lovett is best described as a lonely, middle aged widow who is consumed by her desire to raise a family and be successful in life. She spends most of her days constructing what she calls "The Worst Pies In London" despite the fact that she is unable to gain customers. Of course, when you live in a shop that's rumored to be haunted, chances are you won't get customers no matter how good your product is. Lovett's determined nature never moved her from her station -- despite all the horrible things said of her and her establishment, she never once moved in hopes that a certain Benjamin Barker would return to her.

Who is Benjamin Barker, you may as? Well, perhaps you may know him better as one Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Lovett's object of affection. In order to understand Lovett, you must understand Todd and what drives him, because as far as Lovett herself is concerned, there is no Lovett without Todd. She is completely consumed by her desire to wed him and assist him in extracting revenge, even if it means soiling her own good name. When Sweeney was released from prison, he began his murders above her pie shop on Fleet Street each time a man came in for a shave. Lovett would then take the bodies and use the meat to make meat pies sweet and savory, which she would then sell to the general public without them knowing exactly what sort of meat she was using.

Despite her more subtle nature in terms of plotting and planning, she can be a very loud and boisterous woman when the time calls for it, which was good when business began booming. In the symbiotic relationship she and Todd shared, Lovett was the guiding hand while Todd was the executioner. She acted as a voice of reason on the path to Sweeney's revenge, often settling his temper and risking her own life in the process to ensure that he didn't blow his cover. While Lovett could be seen as insane, it was certainly nothing compared to Sweeney himself.

Lovett's morals are skewed to fit her interests at the current time. For example, she and Todd pick up a young orphan boy by the name of Toby. At first, Lovett is extremely protective and motherly in regards to him. However, once he discovers Todd's secret, he immediately becomes a threat to both her and Todd himself, and so she attempts to dispose of him, though not without grief on her part. That said, Lovett is also not above lying to get what she wants. She twisted the story of Sweeney's old wife, Lucy, to make him believe she was dead without actually saying that she had died.

All in all, it can be said that Lovett is a superb actress and rather skilled at both lying and twisting the truth to fit her needs. She will acknowledge that she is not a good person, which is to say that she is not completely insane in her way of thinking. She is both determined and strong, but weak-willed in the face of love and other strong emotions. Above all, she is one of the most devoted and loyal acquaintances a person could ever hope for...which may or may not be a good thing, if you're one of the more morally upstanding sorts.

Abilities: Normal middle-aged Victorian woman. Her abilities include being awesome at baking and being a fierce, old, red-headed bitch.

Character Name: The Fair Lady/Quelaan of Izalith. "Quelaan" hasn't been officially canonized, but it's more or less been adopted by the fans; if/when she ever gets an official name, I'll change it.
Character Series: Dark Souls
Character Age: Ancient. Appears 17.
Background: IN THE BEGINNING the world was cold and dark, and ruled over by immortal stone dragons. The primitive peoples of the world were little better than godless savages, cowering in fear of the dark and the dragons.

But then came the First Flame: a primordial blaze that beat back the darkness and brought disparity into the world; light and dark, heat and cold, life and death. In the light of the First Flame glimmered 4 broken shards: fragments of an essence called the "Lord's Soul". Those fragments were discovered by 4 beings, drawn to their power: Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight; Gravelord Nito, the First of the Dead; the mysterious and unknown Furtive Pygmy; and the witch of chaos, Izalith. All 4 united against the dragons, and began a bloody war that would span decades- perhaps even centuries. While Gwyn had a regiment of loyal knights and Nito raised the dead themselves, Izalith had only her 7 daughters: powerful users of the ancient flame arts, whom she led into battle against the dragons. The youngest of the 7 was Quelaan, a frail girl who nevertheless fought alongside her mother and sisters.

With the defection of the traitor dragon, Seath, the 4 Lords achieved victory, and the Age of Fire began. The next few centuries were good; Nito and the Pygmy disappeared, but Gwyn and Izalith built up nations and allowed humanity to prosper. While Gwyn commanded the city of New Londo above, Witch Izalith built a city in her name far below the surface of the earth. The great city of Izalith was a prosperous place, where the witch and her daughters ruled alongside their human subjects. It was a good time.

And then the First Flame began to dim.

No flame lasts forever, and the First Flame was no exception. Prophecies foretold that when the Flame went out, the Age of Fire would end, and the Age of Dark would begin. The rule of the gods would come to a close, and humanity's fate would be left in humanity's own hands- for better or for worse. Being gods themselves, Gwyn and Izalith weren't really keen on that idea, so after they spoke on the matter, Izalith attempted to use her fire arts to re-create the First Flame anew.

This did not go well, to say the least.

Izalith was unable to control the Flame she created, and was consumed by it. It became an entity in itself: the Bed of Chaos, absorbing Izalith and all her powers, using them to birth the first demons into the land. The city of Izalith was consumed by chaos and lava, overrun with demons. Some, such as Quelaan's eldest sister Quelana, managed to escape the city before being tainted at all. Quelaan herself, and her older sister Quelaag, were not so lucky. While their other sisters were being consumed by the Bed, the two girls escaped to the surface- but not before being fused with beasts called Chaos Spiders from the waist down.

Yep. Fun times!

Despite their terrible transformation, the two sisters managed to escape to Blighttown, a shanty in the swamp below Anor Londo, and relayed the news of the disaster at Izalith to Gwyn. The king of the gods knew what he had to do: Gwyn distributed his power among his subjects, then departed with his most loyal knights for the Kiln of the First Flame to sacrifice himself there. This he did, keeping the Flame alive for centuries longer, but this did nothing to combat the growing spread of Chaos in the ruins of Izalith.

Bereft of their home and anyone who might help them, Quelaag and Quelaan lived a meager existence in the swamp, attempting to control their warped bodies. Being minor goddesses, they were able to adapt to the change well enough, and Quelaag used her newfound power to beat back the demons that had followed them to the surface. She and Quelaan made their home in a crumbling tower that lay between the Bell of Awakening above and the elevator to the Demon Ruins below, spinning massive webs to deter intruders.

The sisters traded often with the humans who still lived in the miserable shanty of Blighttown, and so it was that Quelaan heard of the terrible plague that afflicted them. The Blight, as it was known, left its victims alive for many weeks, but in extreme pain. As a Fire Keeper, Quelaan had some skill as a healer, and resolved to help the humans if she could; however, Quelaag expressly forbid it, ordering her to remain in their domain. For the first and only time in her life, Quelaan defied her sister, and went into Blighttown to heal the suffering. As it turned out, the only way to save the victims of the Blight was to suck the Blight-pus out of their bodies and accept it into their own. This Quelaan did, hoping that her status as a minor deity would protect her.

She was both right and wrong. Despite the pain and revulsion, Quelaan sucked the pus from every victim of the Blight- the first one saved being Eingyi, a heretical pyromancer who even the other swamp-dwellers hated. The effect of the pus very nearly killed her; as it stood, she was left alive, but blind, weakened, and in extreme pain. In a furious rage, Quelaag brought her back to their domain, ordering the humans Quelaan had saved to come with her and serve her. The humans did not even speak the same language as the sisters, but they- particularly Eingyi -served her as best they could. Quelaan began producing horrific spider eggs that pained her terribly; the only way they could be removed was for humans to allow them into their own bodies.

Over the next few centuries, Quelaag made a discovery: the only thing that could alleviate her sister's pain, however temporarily, was the crystal sprite called "Humanity", which could be harvested from humans themselves. Her sister's human servants began to "mysteriously disappear", until only Eingyi was left. The old man had become an Egg-Burdened, loyally allowing his body to be warped by Quelaan's eggs in order to ease her suffering, however minimally, and as such Quelaag suffered him to live. Quelaan, delirious and half-mad with pain and sickness, had only her sister to speak to; she did not even realize that Eingyi was there.

It was around this time that the first Undead began to appear in Lordran. Once again, the First Flame was fading, and the Darksign was beginning to spread: a cursed brand that marked its bearer as an immortal Undead, shunned and hated by the outside world. The Undead were corralled at the Undead Asylum, and those who managed to escape would find their way to Lordran, driven by their brands to enter the Kiln and face Gwyn. In order to get there, however, they would need to ring the Bells of Awakening, which would bring them right through Quelaag's domain...

Nagihiko Fujisaki | Shugo Chara | not reserved, why is he of all people my first guy muse

[personal profile] bloodypacifism 2012-02-10 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Nagihiko is Nadeshiko. But not exactly the other way around. For a good chunk of his life, he was Nadeshiko. Nagihiko didn't exist. In the Fujisaki family, some of the boys are traditionally raised as women, so they can better adapt to the graceful movements of dance. And Nagi accepted this. For the most part. During his time at school, he was the elegant and refined Nadeshiko. "She" filled the Queen's chair of the Guardians at Seiyo Elementary school, and many of the girls in the school itself looked up to her as a good role model. She was a lady, always calm and rational, who loved all of the students under the Guardians' care. She took the very cold and introverted Amu Hinamori under her wing, and became her closest friend within a matter of weeks. She always knew the right thing to say, and was very responsible and mature for a younger girl--if she had a problem, she dealt with it herself and didn't drag others into her personal issues. She did have a hidden devious side (such as bribing Amu with candid pictures of the King's Chair, Tadase, or passively teasing Amu about her lack of a chest), it was mostly kept out of view, and even if it was--no one cared. Nadeshiko was the Queen. And Temari was her Guardian Character--the little fairy-like being that popped out an egg, representing who Nadeshiko truly wanted to be.

Temari, of course, acted mostly like a typical Japanese woman. Dainty, quiet, the like. But she held within her a very, very large temper and massive amounts of stubbornness. Amu wonders why Nadeshiko would want to ever be like that. But it makes sense when one considers Nagi's desire to be a boy. The only people who, initially, knew of Nagihiko's true gender were the principal of the school, and Tadase. It was a very, very well-kept secret. Nagi could act like a girl. He could dress like a girl. Why wouldn't he be a girl? In Nagihiko's mind, it was because inside he was not. Despite his mature attitude and responsibilities, he still was 13 years old. He wanted to be able to act like a boy. He didn't really want to wear skirts and put on makeup. But he did. that was his biggest conflict. Duty and his family traditions, or his gut feelings? Eventually, though, with some help from Rima Mashiro (the one who took his spot as the Queen chair when he moved to Europe to study dance), he realizes he is who he is. Kinda. Regardless, his time as "Nadeshiko" eventually runs out, as his mother mentions he's almost mastered the Fujisaki's line of dance. Once he returns from Europe, he officially sheds "Nadeshiko" entirely, and noticeably becomes more happy.

And Nagihiko himself? The original personality? Mostly the same. He's not as graceful as Nadeshiko, no. And not as quiet and self-restrained; not by a mile (though he makes it up by being oddly philosophical). But he retains "her" honesty and willingness to protect his friends at any cost, even risking his own life. "Her" devious side becomes much more prominent. You see, Nagi doesn't take people bashing his family's crossdressing tradition lightly, as much as he dislikes it. He went full-out when acting as a girl, and that included wearing the girl's uniform every day, with its thigh-length skirt. So when Tadase and Kukai (the former Jack Chair and a good friend of "Nadeshiko") started poking fun at him for tolerating wearing a skirt, Nagihiko took action. By forcing Tadase and Kukai into the girls uniforms with his bare hands. He is a troll. There's no other word for it. He gets way too many giggles out of seeing people in the clutches of karma--and even takes things into his own hands if necessary, such as the aforementioned "telling Amu her boobs will get bigger in time" thing. And he did nothing but stand there and smile when Kukai freaked out after learning "Nadeshiko" was a boy. And as a stereotypical boy, he's full of boundless energy. Apparently he has a big love of basketball and other such things.

One thing he struggled with was telling the truth. Although the principal and Tadase were the only ones who knew, at the beginning, others found out: Rima figured it out by herself and forced Nagi to admit it; Nagi himself told Kukai. He managed to convince Amu, however, that he was Nadeshiko's twin brother. And until the epilogue of the manga, that's the truth she believes. Rima constantly berated and judged him for it, constantly reminding him of his growing lie. It wasn't exactly something he could do easily. He felt guilty, almost, being Amu's friend as a girl and having Amu confide in him--he was so very afraid it would hurt Amu herself, who he still did think of as his best friend. He did, of course, eventually tell her. And she nearly faints on the spot. Poor guy. It didn't help his conscience much.

After the defeat of Hungary in 955, a Marche called marchia Orientalis was created and became the foothold of Austria's existence. By 976 she came into her own as a personification going by the name of Ostarrichi . Slowly she began to acquire a population and in 996 her people bestowed upon her the name of Österreich, or Austria, which is the name she is known by today.

Austria's growth and personality developed over the next few centuries as her people settled her lands and elevated her to that of a duchy ruled by a family known as the Babenberg Dukes. They were an influential and powerful family in the region and she benefited greatly from their rule until death of their last remaining heir causing their line to go extinct in 1246. They were instrumental in Austria gaining Vienna as her capital city in 1156, capturing England's king Richard the I in exchange for a ransom in 1192, and using the ransom money in 1194 to fund a fortress to defend herself against Hungary and his advances.

After the Babenbergs died out, Austria went through a period of several decades known as her 'interregnum,' during which her legitimacy as a country was disputed. Then in 1278, the Habsburg Monarchy took control over her and proceeded to rule her for the next 640 years of her existence.

Austria became quite friendly with Switzerland at this time, interacting with her as an ally now that they shared the same Hapsburg ruler. While Switzerland found Austria's shortcomings and naivete annoying and hated having to continually bail her out of confrontations with the surrounding nations, the two shared a certain camaraderie between them and grew to be very close. Austria considered Switzerland to be her best friend, and strived to be as strong and useful as she was.

As time went on however, Switzerland became frustrated with the Hapsburgs and their favoritism of Austria over herself. The Hapsburgs considered Austria the heart of their realm, even though Switzerland had been their home and the original land of their affection. Switzerland grew more and more disillusioned with her second class status and in 1291 the Hapsburgs finally offended her so much that she formed her own league in opposition to them. As a result she ended her friendship with Austria.

The eventual and complete loss of Switzerland hurt Austria deeply, propelling her and the Hapsburgs into a spiral of disarray. By 1485 Austria's capital was taken from her by Hungary, he and his king moved their court into her capital and tried to absorb Austria into Hungarian rule. Austria refused despite her weaken state. Merely fifteen years later, after the death of Hungary's king, she managed to take back Vienna from Hungary through a strategic marriage with Spain.

The Habsburg's increased Austria's influence and power through strategic alliances ratified by marriages. This move gained Austria the Hereditary Lands along with the Franche-Comte and the Netherlands along with Spain and her empire in the Americas. Austria was so notorious for her strategic marriages that it gave rise to the poetic line, "Bella gerant alii, tu felix Austria nub." Translated it meant, "Let others make war; you, fortunate Austria, marry."

Austria and Spain's union by marriage was not unpleasant for Austria, although she would never say that she considered it a union of hearts. Just merely a union of necessity. Austria was still slightly jaded after Switzerland's betrayal, but understood that the union with Spain was of great importance to her survival as a nation. The two were separated often due to how far away their homes were from one another and Spain's future exploits to colonize the Americas. However, when they were together they got along well enough despite their differences and considered each other friends.

I'm pulling Austria from just after her marriage to Spain.

Amu Hinamori || Shugo Chara! || Unreserved

[personal profile] guardianjoker 2012-02-10 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Amu is revered as having a 'cool and spicy' personality: that being, she remains calm in any situation, she stands up for people with a non-attention seeking attitude, and says 'cool' things in front of people her own age. Thus, she's fairly popular even though on the surface she seems rather cold and impersonal.

Truth is, Amu's really not anything like that at all. Ever since she transferred into the school, the class took her appearance as a fact that she was 'cool and spicy', so Amu tried to adjust herself into a character that they wanted her to be. Underneath it all, she's a shy, slightly over-eccentric twelve year old with a bit of a stubborn streak, which usually comes out if she's embarrassed and doesn't want to admit it. She's also very terrified of anything occult, so if things like ghosts, vampires, aliens, and other scary things are involved, most of which she refuses to believe are even real and she'll spazz and freak out. She is very easily flustered and socially awkward when interacting with others so whenever she doesn’t know what to say and is nervous of what others will think of her, Amu will try to cover it up by defaulting to her facade personality so that her true personality isn’t revealed thus maintaining her image.

Amu's kind to mostly everyone, and is also fairly naive and a bit gullible as shown when she bought the whole thing about Nadeshiko and Nagihiko being twins, despite how that was a complete lie. She gets flustered easily and lacks self confidence, and when she wants to act how she truly is, she fusses that it's 'not in her character' and usually gets depressed from it but ever since she obtained her own guardian characters and eventually joined the Seiyo Elementary School Guardians she has been getting a bit better at acting herself more as the series progresses while she tries to find out more about her would-be self.

It's not that she dislikes her outer character, it's more like she thinks she has to act that way in order to be a better role model and a responsible person so that her younger sister Ami has someone to look up to. Sometimes she does wish she could just be the kid but in reality she thinks people would dislike her for her real self so she does continue to act like this even with her family. Even her style of clothing which her mom chooses for her reflects this and this is why these initial misunderstandings happened when she first started school at Seiyo Elementary school.

Outside of her own family, the relationships she has with various people throughout the series have gradually helped her come to terms with how to like her true self. Hotori Tadase has made quite a bit impact on her life as he is her first main love interest due to his prince-like outer character. Even though he initially rejected her feelings and only likes her when she is character transformed as "Amulet Heart", he is still someone she feels very strongly about and even admires as a person. She often acts very fangirl like around him and he is the only one she addresses with the "kun" honorific since she addresses the majority of her friends just by their first name. He is one of the reasons why she joined the guardians because it was upon learning he had a wish he wanted to grant upon finding the Embryo that she decided to help him and join the Guardians too. As she learnt more about her responsiblities as Guardian Joker and purifying heart eggs it is clear that Amu had very strong feelings regarding people's dreams. As far as she's concerned, no one should tamper with such a precious thing, and risk destroying it that being why she was against Easter's ideals.

Speaking of Easter, yet another important person in her life is Tsukiyomi Ikuto, who is actually a part of this organization (though not by his choice, which Amu doesn't find out until later in the series). Her first encounter with him doesn't really give her the best impression of him, in the least. She thinks she a weird cat cosplay pervert not to mention that he flirtatious, knows where she lives, is very touchy-feely, and often calls her a pervert for blushing when he gets too close. As a result, Amu is constantly being flustered around him and yelling at him because his teasing aggravates her so much. It doesn't help that she finds him to be very cute and gradually develops feelings for him, all of which she denies. Finding out he works for Easter leaves her very conflicted on how to feel about him because despite all the teasing, he's rescued her countless number of times and if he's in the wrong he would bring her snacks to apologize. Usually it's around him that her true personality is drawn out since he's one of the few people to know the real Amu. It's not something she understands why just yet and despite the fact they are supposed to be enemies they've grown to be quite close as the series progresses. It's all one big confusing mess for Amu, and yet she's still trying to learn more about Ikuto. There's something about him that really makes her want to understand him and though he's one of the last people to confess to her eventually Ikuto becomes one of Amu's most important people that she cares about alongside Tadase. He was always there for her, and she came to eventually realize and come to terms with the fact he really understood her underneath it all.

Next there is Hoshina Utau who is, in fact, Ikuto's sister who just happens to be in love with him as Amu found out when Utau went straight out and kissed him. She works for Easter for Ikuto's sake so that his wish can be grated but she plays a major role in Amu's life since her lost X-Character (Dia) goes to Utau who's using her powers to take people's heart eggs. Utau and Amu are alike in a lot of ways in and often times Amu wishes she were as confident and as cool as Utau is because she likes and even says he admires her despite the fact they're enemies. Having one of her would-be selves get turned like that really took a toll on her since she refused to tell anyone about it in fear that she would get kicked out of the guardians. However, when her friends still stood by her and helped her out it made her a bit more reassured that she has amazing friends who would do anything for her. The fact that Utau thought Amu would steal Ikuto away from her, there was a a bit of a one sided rivalry between them but eventually they become close friends and Utau even entrusted Amu to save Ikuto when he later gets controlled by Easter.

In addition, the other guardians in their group have also influenced her for the better and made her come out of her shell a bit, so to speak. Fujisaki Nadeshiko (who we later find out is Nagehiko) is one of the first people to approach her to get her to join the Guardians and offered her hand in friendship (after some bribery attempts). She's always cheered Amu on in her crush on Tadase, and has just been there in general as a listening ear or her love life or otherwise and someone to have fun girl talk with. Nadeshiko was her first best friend in the series and she was essentially like a support system for Amu as she tried to figure things out about her true self. Even when she met Nagihiko he played a similar role in her life (if only because they are one in the same, despite how Amu thinks they are twins and has a slight crush on Nagehiko). Normally she isn’t one to just blurt out how she feels to people she just met, but she even states that she felt comfortable around both of them and finds them easy to talk with about her problems.

Souma Kukai is the former Jack's chair of the guardians since he has recently graduated from Seiyo Elementary school. He has always been able to cheer Amu up, either by being a dork or by offering some sage advice from time to time. He's also very energetic, and isn't above hauling her from place to place, laughing all the way. Most of the cracky adventures and messes Amu gets into are because of him and even though she did have a brief crush on him, she sees him as a reliable older brother and is happy to be given the chance to hang out with him again whenever they meet.

Lastly, there would be Mashiro Rima and Sanjo Kairi who are the are new guardians she gets acquainted with. It's after meeting and becoming friend with Rima that she tries to attempt to act more like herself and try to move past her outer character. Kairi is someone who turns out to be workin as a spy from within in the guardians by Easter but overall Amu views him as a class-president type character and is stunned by his ability to be organized and how intelligent he is for only being just two years younger than her. After Amu convinces him he's a good person and turns them back to their side, he surprises her by being the first person to confess to her. This has a big impact on her because though she already has someone she likes (Tadase), she is flustered and embarrassed simply by the fact if it was the first confession she had gotten so it was a lot to take in.

Abilities: Amu's abilities come from her her guardian characters, there are two thing she is able to do which include 'Character Change' and 'Character Transformation'. The former gives her a complete change in personality. Amu has the Humpty Lock which also enables her to do the latter that is bit more powerful and gives her special abilities depending on the guardian character, since Amu has four of them, this varies giving her a number of character changes and character transformations.

Ran:
Character change → Amu's cross hairclip changes into a red heart shape at first. She becomes a lot more honest, athletic and outgoing too. She also gains the additional ability in which wings can be generated on her ankles to make her fly.
Character transformation → Amulet Heart. Her appearance and outfit mimics that of what Ran wears.

Miki:
Character change → Amu's cross hairclip changes into a blue spades shape at first. She becomes sharp, level headed and good at anything creativity and is usually very sincere (and acts, in some respects, similar to Amu normally, though is slightly more stubborn)
Character transformation → Amulet Spade. Her appearance and outfit mimics that of what Miki wears.

Suu:
Character change → Amu's cross hairclip changes into a a green clover at first. She becomes better at domestic tasks such as cooking, even with limited ingredients in addition it causes her to act very girly, caring and sensitive.
Character transformation → Amulet Clover. Her appearance and outfit mimics that of what Suu wears.

Dia
Character change → The manga doesn't exactly reveal this since Dia mostly stays in her egg.
Character transformation → Amulet Dia. Her appearance and outfit mimics that of what Dia wears.

Amu has various other transformation, as she is shown to be have to character transform with Iru and Eru, who are both Utau's guardian characters, changing into Amulet Devil and Amulet Angel respectively.

Lastly, she does have one final transformation called Amulet Fortune which is a combined transformation with all her guardian characters in which the outfit she wears is like a bridal gown.

Given that she does have the Humpty Lock, she has the unique ability to be able to on take on X-Eggs and unlock negative hearts to purify them. Both her guardian characters and the lock need to present for her to do any of this otherwise she's just an ordinary girl and the lock is essentially an ordinary piece of jewelry otherwise which she wears around her neck.

Preferred Housing: Can’t name any particular house, but if I may be allowed to voice a preference, I would really appreciate it if he were put in a house with lots of kids!

Character Name: Noximilien "Nox" Coxen
Character Series: Wakfu
Character Age: Two hundred and...forty? Roughly?
Background: Well here's a link to his blurb on Wikipedia, but it's so short that I'm going to write my own right here. The actual canon can be viewed through this beautiful website.

SPOILERS for a lot of Season One's twists!
Nox is the Big Bad Evil Guy of every Game Master's dreams. He relentlessly antagonizes the adorable kid hero, gives him endless hell, drives the same sweet protagonist into a seething rage for spectacular battle, and in the end gets him to pity him.

Two hundred years into the past, Noximilien was a watchmaker, husband, and father of three, who always made the effort to be with his wife and children even when business was bad and the family debt was rising. And it always was. This life could have gone on forever were it not for the discovery of a strange blue cube on a family picnic. This was the Eliacube, artifact of the Eliatrope race that lived and died thousands of years ago. But of course Milien couldn’t know that; all he knew was what he could observe, and the cube demonstrated a remarkable power: it could the drain the energy of living beings, wakfu, and use the harvested power to fuel machinery or his own (originally weak) magical talent. Despite the repeated warnings from his wife on its unnatural nature, Noximilien continued to study the cube, believing that its abilities could provide a means to finally bring the family out of poverty. Rather than improve his life, however, the infinite power provided by the cube consumed it. Milien retreated entirely to his workshop, becoming distant to his family, the outside world, and eventually reality. He no longer slept or ate, and his body deteriorated. His mind fared worse; he began to personify he object of his obsession, hearing voices which he believed with absolute conviction to be the voice of the Cube. After several weeks of complete isolation, Galanthe left with the children to live on Mayara Island with her sister, promising that she would welcome her husband with open arms if he'd ever decide to join them.

That moment would never arrive. Several months later, a corpse-like Noximilien was given bad news: a flash flood had engulfed Mayara Island. There were no survivors. Realizing that his own negligence had destroyed what mattered most, Noximilien went mad with guilt. Resolving to fix his grand mistake, he adopted the identity of Nox and declared war on time itself, swearing to do what no time mage had ever attempted before: a complete reversal of time. To fulfill his grand ambition, Nox constructed a massive army of robotic wakfu harvesters, with his converted workshop as its headquarters and with the cube at its heart. Continuing even as time decayed his body and and forced him to rely on clockwork prosthesis and the power of the Cube, Nox convinced himself that the ultimate result of his plan would reverse all the destruction required to execute it. And if his efforts to fold back time merely broke it… well it was worth a shot.

END SPOILERS

Personality: Nox is desperate and obsessive above all else, and this can be picked up by anyone, along with a manic instability and taste for the theatric. In most interactions with others, Nox takes on a condescending politeness, only occasionally dipping into direct menace.

Although obviously shallow, few realize what is behind his superficial composure. Nox is a broken man. He’s barely lucid most of the time and, despite a sometimes sadistic appearance, never genuinely happy. The guilt that caused his insanity is just as crushing as it was at the time of conception, and continues to drive his single-minded pursuit of “making things right”. Despite the fact that his means of fixing things is likely impossible, he clings on to it to the point of delusion as it’s the only hope he was for living a normal life again. Ironically, despite the ruthless and merciless actions, Nox still has a sense of right and wrong, and is aware that the destruction that he causes is indefensible. But this sense of morality only fuels his desperation and the lengths he’ll go to reaching the end of his plan.

Despite being almost completely divorced from reality, it’s clear from the strategizing done in the series that Nox possesses a sharp cunning that’s paired with his sheer mechanical intelligence, which gives him frightening ability in doing any measure of cruelty to achieve his dream.

Abilities: Nox's main abilities are teleportation, flight, and time manipulation in the form of time slows and time stops. All of Nox's time spells affect a spherical area around him and can be broken with the Power of Love/Friendship/Being a Freakin' Dragon. His greatest asset of all, however, is his brilliant engineering mind, which was at mad scientist levels even back when he was sane. Now, freed from any hesitance that morality and rationality would have given him, his clockwork monstrosities are allowed to reach truly grandiose levels of intricacy and scale. With the aid of the cube, Nox was able to create machines that fed on and attacked with wakfu, though since the cube is far too hax to be brought into Mayfield this is moot other than giving him the cred of having shot dead souls out of a cannon once.

On a more mundane level, he can swing a sword real well, too.

Sample Entry:
Good morning, Mayfield, I’m sure you’re all finding the day as enjoyable as it is for me.

[The bitterness is only given a fleeting second to sink in before he continues]

But as easy as it is to be caught up in the activities of today, I would like to take a moment of my time to remind the community of the importance of looking back. What if we even began to forget? So never neglect your memoires. Never forget about the past…

[There’s a jangling sound as he holds up the inspiration for his monologue, the immediate burst of resentment felt from seeing a relic of his old lie slows his voice to a growl]

…as this town will remind you.

Other Characters Played: Okumura Rin, Hope Estheim
Preferred Housing: If at all possible could Ran be sorted into 915 Bilko as a third child slot? Permission has been granted from Conan-mun, John-mun, and Kyon-mun!

Character Name: Ran Mouri
Character Series: Detective Conan
Character Age: 17
Background: Here!
Personality:

With her father and close childhood friend both being detectives Ran often finds herself witnessing or being around many murders or crimes of great violence. Despite being constantly surrounded by the deaths of others Ran is in no way desensitized to the scenes. She often times cries or puts herself close to someone she cares for but never once does she view the others death as anything less than tragic. Ran is a girl with a lot of love in her heart, a key example being her willingness to take in a child she knows nothing about and care for him, in the midst of her concerns for the safety of another friend (Kudo Shinichi) after his disappearance.

She doesn’t like messes; she cleans her home constantly and is very determined to keep it looking respectable for her father’s clients. She’ll cook, bake, and make tea for guests and is often complimented on the taste of the food she serves. She’s worried for her fathers health due to his bad smoking and drinking habits, and in many ways has taken up the role of parent in her own home. She doesn’t exactly listen to her father’s banter and is often times bossing him and others around. Though her instructions are always with good intentions, and she won’t take advantage of others just because she has the ability to do so. Ran is a good student and daughter with a strong sense of morality thanks to her influences.

She is polite, humble, kind hearted, and is very patient with children. She can easily strike up conversation with others and is genuinely interested in their wellbeing. She’s honest with her feelings towards others, having right away told Conan (who is both the child living with her and actually Kudo Shinichi, just in kid form thanks to a mystery drug) about her feelings for Shinichi as a conversation striker. Though her feelings for the detective geek are something she doesn’t like to admit to people closer to or above her age level. She will comment on how dependable he is and holds the upmost trust in him. Being the childhood friend of a detective geek like Kudo Shinichi, like it or not, has made Ran rather clever. She’s solved three (of the hundreds) of murders she’s been exposed to and is in no way unintelligent. If she ever wanted to surprise him she’d have to think on her toes and become sneaky enough to slip by a genius-level thinker. This of course (much to Shinich’s dismay) does not make her oblivious to the uncanny similarities Conan and Shinichi share. Ran also has a strong intuition and trusts it enough to act upon it and not let her doubts or concerns erode her.

As a pretense to that statement, Ran treats Conan and Shinichi very differently. She can be stubborn, and rather rough with Shinichi. She’ll respond aggressively with her frustration towards him, using karate kicks or punching objects near by (if not him) when he leads her on in a joke. She’ll tease him and make comments that don’t stroke his already large ego and instead knock him down a peg. Ran worries for his safety frequently because of his habit of sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong and is very observant of his behaviors. Shinichi’s detective obsession annoys her but she’s come to find it an endearing trait to his personality. Solving mysteries, however horrible, has been his passion since they were young. Having been by his side that entire time she can’t exactly fault him for pursuing a dream (though she misses watching him play soccer) when it’s melded him into the “cool and dependable” guy that he is. Just don’t expect her to say that to his face. She admires Shinichi and wants to support him in her own way. She can be shy around his attention, and flustered under compliments, since she’s grown to view him as more than just a close friend. Ran has been teased for years about their tendency to act like a married couple. His infrequent phone calls are hardly enough to keep her satisfied considering she’s maybe only caught a glimpse of him in his normal body a handful of times. Which has been barely enough to keep her suspicions towards his identity as Conan Edogawa at bay.

Ran acts as Conan’s protector though, and treats him very much like a little brother. She’ll disclose her fears to him, take baths with him, try to dress him up in cute matching panda pajama’s, complain about her frustrations with others, and babble about her excitement for various reasons. She’s not unaware to his adult level observations, and on many occasions has concluded that he really is Kudo Shinichi. It’s only thanks to the little detective’s efforts that she’s been tricked out of following her intuition. As of current she knows that she and Coann/Shinichi share a blood type, the two look identical, and they share a number of tell tale habits. Her doubts towards his identity currently are not vocalized if they are present. This doesn’t change her willingness to put herself in danger for the smaller boy-given the times she’s hide herself in the trunk of a car to surprise potential attackers, or taken on murderers head on in a brawl to keep him safe. Whether Conan is Shinichi or not, he is a very important person to her.

She takes up the role of protector for the sake of her friends and family too by using her deftness with Judo and Karate to fend off any threats against them. Being the captain of her high school Karate club and the current title-holder of “Regional Champion” for her age division, to say Ran was skilled in martial arts would be an understatement. She is fierce and incredibly powerful (though not inhuman) and is respected from her repeated instances of disarming if not immediately stopping dangerous criminals with her techniques. This talent of hers is not limited to tournament and self-defense use however. Ran uses her upper hand as a threat to others and is not above using it to get her way.

As strong as she is Ran does have her fears: she can be superstitious and has a fear of ghosts and monsters. She also isn’t very masculine. Ran is confident in her femininity and enjoys talking about girly things with others. Her best friends are some of the most talkative and fashion concerned girls she knows. In addition to her strength as a woman, Ran is also rather artistic. She likes to sculpt and can also play the piano, though these are both hobbies that do not seem to be influential towards her choices to an eventual career.

Ran also places great value in promises, she doesn't break any that she's made and she's willing to wait for other people to keep up their end of a promise. She once waited outside till late in the night simply because Shinichi had promised to meet her, and even though he was late she didn't get mad at him. As lovey-dovey as their relationship might be, an important detail about them is that they were both "only child's" living in a home where parents were either busy or fighting.

Abilities:
Ran has no super human abilities or physical traits that make her unique from anyone else. All of her skills are the result of years of hard effort and dedication.

She is however very lucky with gambling, lotteries, and any game of chance. She has never lost once.

Sample Entry:
[Learning she had to attend high school in this town was certainly an odd experience for her. The building was so very different from the one she attended back in Japan. There were no uniforms, no shoe lockers, and there was so much space between the halls she was more than a little surprised with the differences.]

It doesn’t look like they have a Karate club. [She found herself wondering out loud as she moved through the hallway to the gym. There were sewing and crafts clubs for girls that looked fun, but she loved the physical exertion and feelings of accomplishment Karate gave her. Though she might not admit it, there was a certain joy that came from flipping someone on their back.]

I should still practice if I’m going to be here. Maybe I can start a group for after school…! [ Ran smiles swinging her purse, a canopy bag since it was similar to the brief cases her school provided back in Japan, happily as she came to the gymnasium.

Anyone who said she couldn’t use those punching bags for practice would be out of luck today that was certain. While Ran was able to accept the changes that Mayfield was forcing on her-it didn’t mean she wasn’t a frustrated with the position it put her in. This was her stress reliever.

Contact Info: Aim – allisinflux
Plurk - accidentalacrophobia
Other Characters Played: Raleigh – Lost at Sea
Preferred Housing: Randomize me. Why not.

Character Name: Spike Spiegel
Character Series: Cowboy Bebop
Character Age: 27
Background: Wiki Link
Personality: Spike Spiegel is a man who claims that he has no past, but he finds himself seeing nothing but. He’s stuck between the past and the present. His past is not always on his mind, but no matter what it’s always lingering there somewhere. Of course, none of that matters now. Dying can do that to a person. Such is the mentality of those who lives by the Bushido. And such is the mentality of a man who knows that he's living in a dream.

Of course he didn't physically die. Spike Spiegel has a nasty habit of not dying when he's supposed to. No, he just believes that he's dead. A shell. Not that he mopes around and complains about how it's terrible to be dead, no no no. Life just doesn't matter to him - fate can never be changed, so why should Spike try? Nothing matters to him anymore, besides the obvious shit that everyone's supposed to do to stay alive. Eating, breathing, sleeping. Yep, Spike does all of that. However Spike does not see it keeping himself alive. More like things that he could do to pass the time. He does everything with an air of dispassion, with his eyes half-closed, his hands dug into his pockets and his shoulders slumped. Unless someone screws with him or gets in the way of his own job, he acts aloof almost to the point of not really giving a shit about anything. And for the most part, he really doesn't give a shit about anything. Well, almost anything.

Spike is also laid-back, flippant, VERY lazy and a big smart-ass. If his detached attitude doesn't ring any bells for you, it also leads him to slack off whenever possible. Nothing to do? Then Spike is probably sleeping. And good luck trying to get him to take anything serious. He will normally say that he doesn't care when it comes to deciding things. He is not the kind of man who makes decisions, instead just letting fate decide which course he takes. He takes the initiative when the ball is in his court, but that's only when his job calls for it. If he doesn't want to do something, he'll sigh and say "I don' wanna." If he doesn't like something, he'll either just ignore it and act like it doesn't bother him, or pop his head up and complain in the most nonchalant voice imaginable. And if you're particularly unlucky, he'll throw an insult your way like it's nothing. It's as simple as that. Otherwise he'll just let things be, shrugging his shoulders all the while. Money and justice mean very little to him in the grand scheme of things. Despite that, he will always fulfill his obligations. He never lets business fade away, and on the off-chance that he does become involved in something, there is little that will stop him from stringing up the loose ends. He has been known to show some compassion to strangers, though he tends to antagonize people that he's close to.

Spike usually has a tired look on his face. Everything just exhausts him, it's why he's sleeping so much. That doesn't mean smiling is beyond him - on the contrary, he smirks all the time. Normally he shoots a wry little smile at someone he's being especially antagonizing to (which includes pretty much everyone). It's the kind of smirk that could make anyone want to smack him across the face, and he does very well to flash it when the situation calls for it. And by that I mean when he's in the middle of a fight with ten other people.

Oh, did I mention he's a bounty hunter?

Yes, danger is in Spike's job description. He's a cowboy, a futuristic bounty hunter that flies around the galaxy trying to snatch up some crooks. He started in the line of business when he met Jet Black, an ex-ISSP cop turned cowboy himself. The two became partners, did their jobs. Along the way they picked up a few more guests - a data dog, a hyper hacker kid and a loudmouth egotistical newbie hippo cowboy who was cryogenically frozen for fifty years. They all did their jobs. They weren't the greatest bounty hunters in the world but they had their triumphs and failures (mostly failures.) Even during his job, Spike didn't exactly put all that much effort into it.

Spike Spiegel ☆ Cowboy Bebop ☆ Reserved ☆ 2/2

[personal profile] tigerstriped 2012-02-10 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no. Don't go thinking that Spike is any pushover. While he normally tries to go through life without really stirring up trouble, just riding the wave and letting things come as they wish... In reality Spike contradicts his personality. The guy is dangerous and that term isn't used lightly. Spike practices the martial art Jeet Kune Do, and to say that he is skilled with it is putting it mildly. The art is his life. The gist of it is that Jeet Kune Do isn't structured like most martial arts. In fact it's more like a state of mind than a martial art. The essential philosophy is that one must be like the water, which is to say that every movement that one makes must flow right into the next. This comes in handy, since Spike can dodge pretty much anything you can throw at him if you're dumb enough to fight him hand to hand. He also appears to know a thing or two about French Boxing because he can high-kick like a champ.

That's not all. Spike is also well-versed on weaponry and explosives. He never leaves the home without his Jericho 941. It's his baby after all. He also has an extremely sharp sense of perception, able to figure out any complex situation he might find himself in. The clueless look is only for show. He also has a talent for sleigh-of-hand techniques, making him a pretty good pick-pocket, and he's a master of disguise. He is a damn good pilot too, having a customized ship all to himself(though there's definitely no way he'll be flying that puppy where he's going.) All in all, Spike is the kind of guy who can surprise you. He's actually a pretty dangerous man, behind that mask. He's also killed a lot of people.

However, by far the most dangerous thing about Spiegel is that he simply isn't afraid of death. In fact, one might say that he has a flair for danger, going so far as to crack a joke when things are intense. Why can he be so calm and collected? Well, it's just that. He's not afraid of death. Maybe he just doesn't like his life very much. Spike believes that there's something beyond death, something new and exciting. He feels like he's literally living a dream so perhaps this makes him feel like he's unstoppable. So that might explain why he so uncaring about what happens to him, or how things might turn out.

Speaking of danger, you want to know how he always gets out of sticky situations? The guy is very fucking lucky. That is no exaggeration. Do you honestly think a man of this stature could throw himself into so many dangerous situations, head-first and not giving one shit and somehow manage to survive every single time? This is not a matter of his own skill as a martial artist, no matter how unparalleled his experience is. This is a matter of him just being the lucky son of a bitch. You ever get kicked up in the air a dozen times over by a levitating fat man with a trench coat? Ever get shot in the chest, blasted through a window of a futuristic monorail and thrown into the ocean below? How about getting stabbed in the chest by a katana, thrown through a church window and fall some three stories, JUST nearly avoiding a big explosion that nearly levels the church itself? I'm pretty sure no one has ever experience any of that, and if they had they would not live to tell the tale. Spike on the other hand somehow manages to survive everything that's thrown at him, sometimes coming out of the trouble with only a scratch.

And why should he worry? After all, dying might be the only way for him to wake up. And maybe, well, maybe that’s what he wants.
Abilities: While Spike Spiegel is not in the least supernatural, he’s got a couple of things under his belt, the practice of Jeet Kune Do aside. Most notably is Spike's right eye, which is slightly lighter in color than his all-natural left. After having lost his eye in an accident during one of his missions, Spike's eye was replaced with a cybernetic eye. Because of this, it offers him a far greater hand-eye coordination. This assists in both his perception and his aim. And even before getting his cybernetic eye, he was pretty damn skilled in weaponry and perception. He’s a master at slight of hand, capable of pickpocketing people without them even knowing. Lastly, and most importantly, Spike has a lot of luck on his side. He can take a lot of damage, perhaps enough to kill any normal human being.

Personal LJ: [profile] frickninja
Contact Info: AIM: lynuckofthenorth, plurk: frickninja
Other Characters Played: The TARDIS, The Signless
Preferred Housing: Strong preference to being placed with Nathan and Shilo Wallace.

Character Name: Magdalene Delafou, more popularly known as Blind Mag
Character Series: Repo! The Genetic Opera
Character Age: 36
Background: Here
Personality: From her introduction to her death, Mag is shown to be the most mature character in the film and seems to be carrying the least amount of emotional baggage. Or she at least doesn't wear it on her sleeve like certain other characters.

She puts on a facade of the regal opera diva for the public. During the few clips of concerts we see she performs she's happily belting out notes, smiling and promoting GeneCo's services. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Genetic Opera she forces a smile and tries to hide her surprise and fear when Rotti subtly threatens her then laughs it off as a joke.

But when the cameras aren't on her it's a very different story. She's essentially a prisoner, a caged bird forced to be the face and voice of a company she despises and work for a man she knows wouldn't hesitate to have her killed if she tried to leave. She traded her freedom for the ability to see and along the way lost her best friend Marni and the chance to watch her goddaughter grow up.

Mag shelters herself from others, avoiding interactions unless absolutely necessary. It's quite possible Marni's sudden death is what triggered this. The only character she really reaches out to is Shilo after learning the girl is alive after Nathan lied and told her she'd died with her mother.

Watching her interactions with the Largo siblings it seems she's the only one other than their father Rotti who has some semblance of control over them. When Luigi loses his temper and attacks as assistant bringing him coffee, Mag steps in and orders him to stop. He does so immediately. When faced with Amber's hostility she brushes it off, like an adult ignoring a child having a temper tantrum.

Calm, cool and collected is a good way to describe her. She's always in control, always keeps her composure. Even after being unexpectedly interrupted by Nathan when she visits Shilo, she greets him with a very calm "Hi, Nathan." and asks how he is. She gets a little flustered when he tries to throw her out but her attention is more focused on reassuring Shilo that she'll be okay if she leaves and then begging Nathan to let his daughter leave the house and live her life.

Freedom is a big deal for Mag. It's something she wants desperately but she's well aware she's wasted her life. She sold her soul and it's too late. Her only way out now is death and she's okay with that. At best is means she'll get to see Marni again and at worst at least she'll be free of her GeneCo cage. She tells Shilo not to get involved with them and leave her bedroom and her house. She doesn't want to see her mistakes repeated.

Abilities: Mag is a trained opera singer and and thanks to GeneCo she has fancy new eyes that can do more than see. They act as a camera/projector system that she uses in her concerts and then to show Shilo a hologram her mother taken before she was born. She can record, save and project holographic images at will with them.

Sample Entry:

[Readjusting to blindness has been a struggle for Mag. After seventeen years of being able to see it's strange bumping into furniture and missing steps in this strange new house. But for the most part she doesn't mind. She's more free here in Mayfield and blind than she ever was back home with her eyes.

It takes a little groping and bumping her shins on the coffee table but she finally finds the phone.]

Hello, Mayfield. This is Blind Ma- [She pauses.] This is Mag. I'm calling because I'd like to offer my services.

I'm a singer. I'm aware this isn't the most useful of skills in this town but I'm willing to give lessons to those interested. Opera is my specialty but I'm familiar enough with other styles that I should be able to teach them. Fees can be discussed later.

Character Name: Selina Kyle aka Catwoman
Character Series: DC Universe, specifically taking her from the Gotham City Sirens series
Character Age: Somewhereeee in her thirties
Background: Everything you ever wanted to know and then some.

Personality:Selina spent her childhood in squalor and poverty, and from there built herself into a woman who can do whatever she wants whenever she wants, answers to no one and is held back by nothing. She will never be caught or controlled, and certainly not ever dependent on or prohibited from doing something. When she sets her sights on something she wants, it's as good as hers.

Her need for freedom coincides with the fact that she trusts very little and very few, and in turn is often not to be trusted herself. Being reliant on someone else is seen as a weakness to her, as it makes her less free and more vunerable.. She has a bit of a safe zone with some friends who cannot hurt her and whom she can thus trust to an atypical extent. But this may change if Selina ever feels that might get some sort of hold on her, and she's not above hurting others just to show she shouldn't be trusted - since the trust of another is a denial of her freedom.

Catwoman is also very private, hard to read and unpredictable, and it's difficult for even close friends to tell what's on her mind. She's mysterious and has an aloofness when it comes to her privacy. Privacy is something she was denied a lot as a kid, and is invaluable to protect both her freedom and her safety. For the most part, Selina has spent her life as a loner. She doesn't crave company and functions well living alone, though can make exceptions for friendships within certain limits and on her own terms.

When pushed - and it may not take that much - Selina can be remarkably devious, manipulative and brutal. Her plans are crafty and cunning, and employ the strengths and weaknesses of her opponents against them. They rely on careful casing, preparation and anticipation, since she's originally a thief specializing in high-ticket items -- and, sometimes, on frantic but generally graceful improvisation when things go thoroughly off-script.

Selina's goals for the East Side are focused around, figuratively speaking, establishing herself as a one woman mob. She understands better than anyone that crime and exploitation will not go away, but establishing her authority as a 'clean' kingpin is the best way to keep the area working while doing damage control. And knowing that she's feared, respected and seen as a positive influence is something that she can appreciate. Her devotion to the East End can sometimes lead to trouble, as she is on her own and can only do so much as one woman.

The vast majority of Selina's interactions with men are deceitful, as she relies on her beauty and her mighty charm and wit to manipulate them and get what she actually wants - material things like money or jewels. She has mixed feelings on the subject of love, which blends her love of freedom into her fear of attachment. While she has plenty of fly by night relations, actual love is rare, and more than that, ill-fated. As with most things, Selina wants the very best when it comes to men, but relationships are much more complicated than diamonds and rare cat statues.

Abilities: No magical abilities here!

Vincent Smith | Silent Hill 3 | Reserved

Name: Xander
Personal Journal: [personal profile] der_glitzkrieg
Contact Info: AIM - derglitzkrieg
Other Characters Played: Sol Badguy
Preferred Housing: Whatever house Heather Mason ends up in.

Character Name: Vincent Smith
Character Series: Silent Hill 3
Character Age: 25
Background: http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Vincent_Smith
Personality: Note: links go to specifically referenced material.

To begin with, Vincent is a very manipulative person. He likes to use people to get what he wants. He did this with Heather by essentially using her to get back at Claudia. He directed her to the amusement park to get to Claudia, instead of letting Heather put the clues together herself. At this point in the game, Heather wants to kill Claudia, which would suit Vincent's own desires. He has no qualms about using people to ends that suit him. He does this with The Order by using the donations he receives for himself, rather than for furthering the Order's purpose. He also will act in certain ways to get the result he wants.

Vincent is also exceptionally greedy. As stated above, he collects donations for the Order. While he did do some worthwhile things with it (such as have the chapel built, stated in his and Claudia's last conversation), he mostly used it for his own gain. There's a memo in game that stating this exact fact and a rumour that he was even extorting the members of the church. He seems to put the power of money on the same level as the power of God.

He is also a somewhat cruel person. He seems to lack a sense of empathy entirely. He openly mocks things to get a rise out of people. For example, in a conversation between him and Claudia, he mocks the religion she holds dear (and the one he is a priest of). He taunts her about her father and the abuse she suffered, all to make her angry and possibly to make her question her faith. He also doesn't hesitate to say that he wants both Heather and Claudia dead to get them out of his way because rebirthing God would make things inconvenient for him; he even says this directly to Claudia. He also takes a "y u mad, tho?" (for lack of a better phrase) response when people act offended about the things he says, as if he doesn't understand why they're angry at all. He makes a cruel joke about the monsters that Heather has been killing in Silent Hill, implying that they weren't monsters. He only admits it's a joke when Heather looks revolted at her own actions (this cutscene, at 2:30).

Vincent is intelligent and prides himself on his knowledge. He almost always shows up either reading a book or holding one. One of the things he seems to take great joy in is having information that someone else wants. He will only easily given information to someone if it suits his own purpose. A good example of this is his conversation with Heather at Jack's Inn. He only relays Douglas' message because it gets Heather closer to Claudia, therefore closer to them both being out of the way. If he doesn't want to give up the information, or seems to feel like they should be able to figure it out on their own, he taunts or mocks them. The first time Heather meets Vincent, he gives her little hints about her past and acts surprised when she doesn't know anything. He essentially just mocks her through the entire conversation because of her lack of knowledge, lording what he knows over her.

He is very self-serving and admits as such, adding "everyone does it" to the end as a way of rationalizing it. He feels that rebirthing God would be inconvenient to him, as it would interrupt his life. He is far more interested in continuing his study of the Otherworld (finding it fascinating, rather than frightening) and doesn't want his time to do it cut short. Getting both Claudia and Heather out of his way would prevent all of this inconvenience, but he'd rather have them kill each other instead of him having to get his hands dirty. He does everything to benefit himself; he has no sense altruism and isn't interested in helping anybody.

In terms of body language, Vincent is very animated when he speaks. He gestures quite a lot when he's speaking and with punctuate his words with hand motions. It also seems the more passionate he is about something, the more he gestures. This becomes more apparent in his later conversations with Heather as well as the hotel conversation with Claudia. In most conversations, he keeps a good distance between him and whoever he's speaking to. As he makes a stronger point, or is trying to get under the other person's skin, he closes the distance between them. He also has a fairly effeminate walk -- his hips sway as he walks.

Another side of Vincent is his relationship with Claudia, a fellow member of the Order. He seems to have a hatred for her, but this can also be read as a condescending attitude to her way of life. It's implied they were raised together, but Vincent grew to hate how fanatic Claudia became; he feels that Claudia was brainwashed by Dahlia Gillespie (who he calls a crazy old hag). He doesn't like it when Heather, as he says it, puts him on the same level as Claudia. The first time she says this, he corrects Heather with exasperation; the second time, however, he has a threatening and dark tone to his correction. In addition, he tells Heather that while Claudia and himself believe in the same god, they disagree fundamentally on many things. He feels that she's insane, calling her a madwoman as well as a crazy bitch. He also speaks to Claudia with more malice and cruelty than he does to anyone else he speaks to in the game.

Abilities: None.

Name: gonsai
Personal Journal: [profile] gonsai
Contact Info: aim = gonsaifong
Other Characters Played: Patchouli, Virginia, Dizzy, Tir, Kyouko
Preferred Housing: Whichever house Vincent ends up in

Character Name: Heather Mason. (Her real name is Cheryl, but for the canon point I'm pulling her from, she'll prefer Heather)
Character Series: Silent Hill
Character Age: 17
Background: Wikia article
Personality: Heather is a fairly temperamental teenage girl. She is quick to emotion, specifically anger or frustration. Which is... actually very normal for her age, all things considered. When characters like Claudia and Vincent start speaking in terms they assume she understand, she very often snaps at them, becoming quickly frustrated with her lack of understanding as to the true nature of the events in the game. This eventually wears down to some degree, at least in regards to her frustration, but the anger remains. Especially in regards to Claudia, whom after killing her father, earns Heather's seemingly unending hatred and anger.

While at first the horrors of the game obviously strike Heather right to the core, her referring to it as a nightmare she can't wake up from, it becomes apparent soon enough that Heather begins to use her sense of humor as a coping mechanism. It starts simply enough, with her making little jokes to herself as she observes various objects, memos, and other items of interest in the game. It progresses even further as she begins to feel 'numb' to the constant terror of the Otherworld, making fairly sarcastic jokes somewhat often towards various characters. Even in the end, she pretends like she's possessed and attempting to kill Douglas just because she, and Douglas too, desperately needed something to laugh about after everything they had experienced. It helps keep her human in an inhuman world.

Heather absolutely adores her father. This is made apparent several times throughout the game. In the very beginning, her phone call to him sounds like a normal, loving father-daughter relationship. His advice and guidance for her comes up often, telling Douglas she doesn't talk to strangers, keeping a switchblade knife on her at all times, knowing to run from danger and never hesitate. His death midway through the game becomes a massive driving point for her, the profound sadness driving her to hate Claudia and seek out the answers for herself rather than running away from the horror. In the end, she finally finds her chance to truly cry over his death, creating one of the most memorable moments in the game.

She has interests in the paranormal, as pointed out several times in game. She had a subscription to a magazine primarily featuring stories about ghosts and psychic phenomenon. She also has an interest in literature in general, likely an avid reader in absence of having a steady social life. She quotes both Poe and Shakespeare in game, without reference, obviously having memorized the stories to some degree. Heather also has her vices, the game implying that she used to smoke in her younger years, but quit for good before the events of the game. In spite of these, though, it doesn't even occur to Heather to ever break the law during her experiences in the nightmarish world. In one particular point in the game, she's presented with a broken cash register with money all over the counter. Not once does the thought of taking it cross her mind. Her father, after all, raised her to be better than that.

A large part of Heather's journey in the game is about self-determination. She discovers that she is, indeed, Alessa Gilespie reborn. And that those thoughts, personality traits, and memories, are a part of her. The idea of self, of who she is and how she came to be, becomes a theme for her. The part of her that is Cheryl, raised by Harry and is an otherwise normal human girl, and the part of her that is Alessa, raised by The Order and destined to birth God, conflict at first, but soon consolidate as it becomes clear that she is still herself regardless of these truths. This acceptance of Alessa gives her the last bit of strength and determination she needed to see things through to the end. It was probably the most important aspect of Heather's progress in the game, besides avenging her father.

Abilities: It is generally implied that Heather shares the same psychic abilities that Alessa had, Vincent going so far as to say he had no "powers" like Heather and Claudia did. They never seem to manifest directly in game, but there is a humorous extra weapon that can be gained on multiple playthroughs that makes use of them.

Sample Entry: Dear Mun post and thread.

Character Name: Crona, doesn't really have a last name by canon.
Character Series: Soul Eater
Character Age: 14 or so
Special Note: Crona's gender in the original manga is left completely ambiguous, and Crona is meant to appear extremely androgynous. As such, for the sake of what goes on in Mayfield...I suppose the town can identify Crona as "male" just for the lulz. In canon...it's really unknown what gender Crona is...despite the use of "he" in the official translations.

Background: Crona on this Soul Eater wiki.

Re: Crona | Soul Eater | Reserved

[personal profile] to_be_fire 2012-03-02 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: (For the purposes of this app, and my sanity, I'm just going to use "he" for the pronoun to describe Crona.)

Crona's personality is very difficult to grasp, so I suppose it would be best to simply start with his childhood. Crona was born the child of the snake witch, Medusa. Needless to say, Crona's mother is insane. In an effort to create a Kishin (basically a god of insanity in the Soul Eater world), Medusa essentially used her child as an experiment. Likely in infancy, Medusa melted down the Demon Blade known as Ragnarok into what is called "Black Blood" and infused it into Crona, entirely replacing his own blood. Thus, the weapon and wielder became one. Crona spent his entire childhood being trained and abused by his own mother to, essentially, create a dark insanity within the child. This training involved learning every way possible to kill a person, and using what has been learned on poor defenseless little rabbits. If Crona refused, or did not perform well, he would be locked in a dark room and not fed for days at a time in order to break his mind and will.

Thus, the child became twisted inside. At his core, Crona is not a bad person, simply following the teachings of his mother. These teachings created a child who is constantly fearful and completely lacking confidence in his ability to live on his own. Crona tends to spend most of his time isolating himself from others, doing as he's told so as not to be punished by either his mother or Ragnarok himself. Crona has known nothing else but suffering, killing and madness, so his ability to interact with the world is negligible at best.

Despite the power and skill Crona has in wielding his weapon, Crona has no self-worth or confidence whatsoever. He believes himself to be weak and useless, and this causes him to be fearful of just about everything. Toss in his inability to interact with people normally, and even just being spoken to can bring about this fear, easily throwing him into a panic rather easily. The only companion Crona has had through his life's journey has been Ragnarok himself, who can manifest himself outside of Crona's body. Ragnarok usually acts as an "annoying older brother" type to Crona, constantly bullying him, stealing his food, and generally manipulating him when it needs to be done. Still, at the base of it Ragnarok seems to care for Crona somewhat, providing encouragement in fights and healing Crona when needed, though this usually means he will bully Crona into thanking him when he does so. Ragnarok is well aware that if Crona dies, so does he, so he will do what he must to protect Crona.

As such, Ragnarok has been the only real companion Crona has ever known. Friends were a foreign concept to him until Maka Albarn saw fit to understand Crona during the battle to resurrect the Kishin. Maka essentially dove into Crona's soul to gain an understanding of him, and due to their similar "soul wavelengths" managed to get through to him, offering to become his friend. Despite Crona's life so far, he accepted this friendship with no small amount of panic and tears. Below all of the madness Crona is not a bad person at his core. Crona wishes to find friendship, to be useful to others and even possibly grab on to a bit of happiness somehow. His inability to interact with others, his self-loathing and lack of confidence, as well as the fear and shyness toward everything around him make this rather difficult. As the friendship began to grow between Crona and the other children at the Academy, though, it almost seemed as if Crona could possibly come into his own as a person able to move beyond what his mother had done to him, but unfortunately he remains very easily manipulated by Medusa. Through that Crona is driven to betray his new friends, despite voicing just how much he doesn't want to do that. His madness and childhood abuse do not allow him to go against the wishes of the one who essentially brainwashed him.

Maka Albarn seems to be the only person able to ever get a proper response out of Crona, due to their common "soul wavelengths" and the fact that Maka was the first one to offer her friendship to him. Without Maka's urgings, Crona is typically content to sit in a corner and not move, moping about while the war against what he wants and what he was taught to do rages within him. Crona's demeanor and mannerisms are rather child-like, causing him to do things like name the favorite corner of his room "Mr. Corner" and find comfort in staying in that corner. Things that are familiar will always draw Crona to them, as the world is a very frightening place for him and the comfort of the familiar is the only way he can seem to deal with all of this new stimulus.

At the canon point I am taking Crona from (Being the end of Chapter 40 of the Manga, when Crona is called back to Medusa after betraying his friends), Crona is essentially a very mentally damaged individual. His grip on sanity and social norms is very, very shaky and his confidence in himself is almost zero. He is very shy and fearful of others, and for the most part is very easily bullied/taken advantage of. Despite all of this, Crona has grown touched and appreciative by everything his new found friends had done for him, though the guilt of his betrayal has began to eat away at the very core of his being. Due to what has been done to him the storm will likely never fully die within Crona, though it seems he has the potential to grow apart from his current broken state of mind.

Character Name: Tsubaki Yayoi
Character Series: Blazblue
Character Age: Not said, but likely about 18 or 19 given she’s part of the military, so an adult slot would be nice.
Background: Blazblue wikia page

Personality: The girl Tsubaki Yayoi can be best framed by understanding her roots and her world as a whole. Tsubaki lives in a world that was once on the threshold of dying, the human race almost becoming extinct as a whole along with it. It is now governed not by a democracy, but by a militant command known as the Novus Orbis Librarium. They ultimately regulate the world with their great strength through the use of Ars Magus, weapons made from a cross of both science and magic, which could be wielded by certain people with a high potential determined at birth. Tsubaki’s family was particularly strict in this regard, as part of the Duodecim: a twelve member family group of noble status.

Tsubaki, for this reason, was born into the life of a noble and always had her course in life set for her. She was never given much choice, as any sibling she had died due to conflicts from the family’s rampant inbreeding when it came to birthing children, but this was never a fate that bothered her. If anything, she was always prepared and excited to join the NOL and become much like the heroes she admired. For you see, Tsubaki is first and foremost a believer in order and justice. Without order, there is chaos and being taught all her life of the Librarium’s “successful” ways of governing the world has not deterred her thinking in the slightest. From childhood to adulthood, she was a studious girl and never strayed from the wishes of her family. It was not a burden for her and she never wished to be free of her obligations, though she admitted it could be quite lonely being one of the youngest children of the twelve families, and to her it would be an honor to serve the Imperator of the Librarium someday.

However, this has led to a problem that is natural for anyone with such high expectations as Tsubaki – a very sheltered life. She was rarely ever permitted to leave the mansion she was born and raised in, describing how she would only usually leave if to be taken to another house of the Duodecim during their monthly conferences (each family hosted for every month). Even then she did not have many friends, with most of the children in the Duodecim being older than her by many years, so it was a very closed off world for the girl. She adjusted to the world outside well, thanks to lessons of mannerisms imparted to her by her family, but it was clear how awkward she could be when not playing into the role of the noble girl with a high ranking. Tsubaki never attended any public academies until entering the mandatory NOL Military Academy and only knew of her childhood friend Jin Kisaragi, a child of another Duodecim family, so her life was more or less blissful. She read about the hardships of the common person, but never quite experienced them herself, and only had a select number of people she would regard as friends. While popular in the academy and having a high standing amongst students, naturally for being of noble blood, the ones she treasured the most were her roommates (Noel Vermillion and Makoto Nanaya) and Jin. She was more or less the model student, always acting in a dignified and polite manner proper for her upbringing.

Personality:

Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo-wah
Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo-wah
Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo-wah
Doo-bee-doo-bee-doo-wah

He's a semi-aquatic egg-laying mammal of action! He's a furry little flatfoot who never flinches from the fraaaaaay! he's got more than just mad skill, he's got a beaver tail and a bill. And the women swoon, whenever they hear him say: Krrrrrrrrrrrt.

In all seriousness, Perry is the beloved pet of the Flynn-Fletcher household, and puts his status as family pet ahead of being a secret agent. He is so devoted to his family that he will sacrifice defeating Doofenshmirtz in favor for pleasing his family, especially the boys Phineas and Ferb. A master of platyjitsu, Perry is a hard as nails secret agent with the talents that come along with it. He has a burning dislike for Doof, but at the same time acts as the mans closest friend and confidant, being that he is literally the healthiest relationship Doof has been in for years.

Perry is completely selfless and lacking vanity as demonstrated in several episodes, although he does have his quirks. Sometimes, as in one episode he makes fun of Candice behind her back leading to the boys singing a song to bring him back. Perry tends to spend his off days watching television shows and eating chips, mostly soap operas which belays his tough nature. In truth Perry is an incredible softie and will do anything for those he considers family.

His joys are simple, sleeping with the boys and waking up to a good morning, beating the crap out of Doof and being pampered and played with. He has a good solid relationship with his boss Major Monogram and his Unpaid Intern Carl, although he is not immune to Monogram's quirks. Perry also has an affection for his hat, and will go to lengths to keep it from being taken away from him or lost. When showing his displeasure, he will usually give a flat stare or if he's pretending to be a dumb animal, he usually bites, or even goes so far as to pee on the couch if need be.

Abilities: Perry has above average speed, strength, agility and reflexes belaying his long years of being a secret agent. A master of platyjitsu, he has unerring accuracy with thrown objects and projectiles, and is usually outfitted with some kind of gear at hand. He can carry a numerous amount of things stored behind him, presumably in his fur or some kind of pocket space, such as a jetpack, glider and a parachute with his logo on it. He is able to do combat with people several sizes larger with him, and is skilled enough to take out robots and other large mechanical objects used by villains. He also does math, has poor vision (he wears contacts) and can pilot many vehicles with ease. He is also familiar with machinery, and can build and upgrade things with Doof's help.

Background:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Corran_Horn

He will be taking from after the book I, Jedi.

Personality:
To start with, among all his traits, Corran is a detective. He is constantly searching for answers to things he feels is off and this, more often than not, gets him in quite a bit of trouble. Even when the answer may disturb him or make things harder for everyone, Corran believes that the truth is something everyone should know and be aware of. This doesn't mean he is a rogue private eye who will suspect even his best friends. Corran knows restraint, trust, and he has an extreme loyalty to his friends. If and when he is betrayed by them, these are honestly among the worst moments in Corran's life.

As a child, Corran's father always told him to trust his gut instinct. This was possibly because his father knew Corran would be sensitive to the Force. Regardless, Corran has always trusted in his instincts and tends to act upon them. Along with that, Corran tries to be rational, constantly looking for a reason why he has a bad feeling so he won't look like an idiot when presenting his concerns to those whom it may matter. He knows as well as anyone that having a bad feeling isn't enough of a reason for action but he acts upon his feelings to get the reasons necessary to make his actions.

As a Jedi, Corran feels he has a strong sense of right and wrong. He states honestly that he's toed the line between good and evil in his lifetime and he knows when a person is going too far. That may be arrogance coming from him or he may just be that confident in his decision making. According to Corran, it would be confidence and experience that lets him draw that conclusion. He still does things that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker may frown upon but he's still confident in his own decisions.

As a fighter pilot, Corran is rather cocky, arrogant, and extremely competitive, wanting to be the best at everything he does. He's fully aware of this trait and part of it stems from the fact that he's always attempting to distance others from him. His time as a detective has made it difficult for him to make friends but his time with the Rogue Squadron has taught him otherwise. Caught in between two conflicting feelings, Corran chooses to make friends but every so often, his emotional defense mechanisms will push them away and he'll keep doing so until it's pointed out to him.

Once among friends, Corran is surprisingly open. He isn't afraid to tell stories of his life as a detective or any personal encounters he may have had. He has a sharp wit and that is a talent that is always appreciated in conversation among the Rogue Squadron. Corran is also a family man, extremely dedicated to his wife. Even though his wife's father hates his guts (and vice versa), Corran pushes aside his own feelings just so his wife can life that much easier.

Preferred Housing: With the Selina Kyle who is apping this round

Character Name: Mordin Solus
Character Series: Mass Effect
Character Age: Roughly mid-thirties, fairly old for a Salarian
Background: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mordin_Solus
Mordin is taken from right after Horizon

Personality:

Mordin is at first glance an easy going, talkative Salarian who never blows you off for calibrations. He's always ready with advice and commentary on the current situation. While he has no great interest in romance, he is willing to give advice to others as to how to pursue it safely. He is a dedicated and creative scientist, capable of coming up with solutions to extremely challenging problems. A genius, in fact, but more importanly he is excited by discovery. Indeed, the portions that involve waiting make him rather impatient.

Mordin believes strongly that the ends justify the means. He tends to analyze situations from what he believes to be an impartial logical standpoint for the greater good. He does not shy away from what might seem to be morally questionable decision if it appears to be the path which provides the greatest overall benefit to society as a whole.

While this is his overall goal, he has struggled with some decisions he made, notably his work on enhancing a biological weapon intended to induce sterility in Krogans. While he maintains that keeping the Krogan population in check was for the greater good of the galaxy, the large scale
implications did disturb him. However, he also felt responsible to see the project through rather than unload the responsibility onto anyone else. He is not one to run from his own decisions. While he did wish the work would have fallen to someone else, he also fears that anyone else would have made the situation worse.

Opting to serve the greater good through a medical clinic was a considerably simpler option. He does not appear to have difficulty reconciling the many people he has killed with medical ethics, keeping the two very distinct. This did not even come into conflict during his ruthless defense of his clinic, as he considers killing dangerous people just as helpful as healing patients. He makes a point of noting that while he has used many unusual methods to kill, he has never used medicine to do harm. He also has a very strong personal rule against experimenting on sentient subjects.

Mordin processes emotional fallout very rapidly. He claims this is a general Salarian species trait due to their short lifespans. However, he would no doubt be appalled were we to take his word on the matter without a larger sample size to analyze.

While he does not have a personal interest in art, he considers its existence to be an important aspect of life. He believes the loss of it to be a great diminishment of life, rendering it devoid of overall meaning. He considers it to be demonstration of a soul. While he does not subscribe to a particular religion, having found them all lacking in answers after his questions about the genophage, he does maintain a certain degree of spirituality.

Abilities: Mordin's powers are technological rather than innate

Sample Entry: Recent wave of surgeries fascinating. Additional body parts well beyond apparent technological capabilities of town. Built up entire vascular systems. Not trivial work. Nerves, bones, musculature. Impressive, even without successful final function. But pointless, math makes it clear. Aerodynamics not even remotely appropriate. Any good scientist could see that. [Sniff]

Fascinating work, but no overall benefit. Not appropriate. Human technology in this era primitive, but cognitive function similar. Clearly sentient. Not medicine.

Preferred Housing: 1334 Benny Road with Yagami Hayate and Zaraki Kenpachi. I have permission from both muns.

Character Name: Vita. No last name is given.
Character Series: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's.
Character Age: Eight years old physically, but she is centuries upon centuries old in all actuality.
Background: Here!

Personality: Simply put, Vita is a brat. A no good, arrogant, tell-you-like-it-is brat. She's crude, she's rude, and she's definitely not going to stand with taking crap from people.

Although, there's definitely more to her than meets the eye.

As a Wolkenritter, Vita is intensely loyal to her mistress, Yagami Hayate and will do what it takes to defend and protect her from anything. She honors and upholds her duty to protect her as well as her fellow Wolkenritter from harm's way since they have demonstrated in the first couple of episodes in A's that they work extraordinarily well as a team. In fact, the Wolkenritter and Hayate are Vita's "family" and she will do whatever Hayate orders her to do with no questions asked. Conversely, if she feels that Hayate's life is in danger and she has been ordered to not interfere, she'll disobey her commands in order to save her life.

Though, to those who earn Vita's respect, she'll generally get along with them, tease/joke around (which gets turned around to her when she attempts to tease, only to her annoyance) and she'll also defend them since they are her friend. Of course, she'll still be the brat that she normally is with everyone, however she'll definitely tone down her behavior as well as her language when she's around others that she knows more and has been around more, too. That means that if someone's willing to give her time to get to know a person and actually be kind to her, she's more than likely going to return the kindness back. In turn, this will also mean that she will, again, defend and protect them with her life.

However, should one of her friends get in harm's way, she'll try to do what's in her power/what is allowed at the time and then go deliver her revenge against the person who dared to hurt her friend. Vita really is as loyal as she says she is and will make good on her promises to people so that she doesn't feel helpless when it comes down to it. All in all, she's definitely someone that people want on their side and not the opposite because her bark is just as worse as her bite and she will make someone know that with her own hands.

Abilities: Here is a brief synopsis of her powers and strength.

Vita, as a Wolkenritter, is a very strong mage with her spellcasting power being at an A class. This means that her Linker Core has been augmented to give her an advantage in the sky since she excels the most with aerial combat. She can go from just floating in the sky to swarming an enemy in mere seconds. In addition to this, her Device, the Graf Eisen, can utilize cartridges that can give her an ample edge. Graf Eisen can also transform into a small metal hammer to a sharp point on one side that was able to pierce through Takamachi Nanoha's barriers, break off pieces from her own Device, Raging Heart and it was also able to split Bardiche, Fate Testarossa's Device, in half. This also demonstrates her ability with breaking barriers, which is a formidable skill all its' own.

Sample Entry: 'Kay, so. Mayfield, is it? Lemme just ask one question here.

Who the hell thought it'd be a wonderful idea to put me in a child spot?! I don't need to be coddled like a damn kid and I don't wanna go to that stupid school! You hear me, person in charge? I, Iron Knight Vita, won't put up with this crap and I'll be sure to let you know why!

Come on, if you're actually man enough, let's have ourselves a nice little talk. I'll be waiting.
