Applications

• Please read over all the rules and information before applying in order to minimize any confusion before joining.

• If applying for a character that has already been dropped, it would be a good idea, though not required, to know something of their previous interactions. You are also free to pick up a dropped character with no memories of their previous time in Mayfield.

• All content for the personality and sample entry in your app must be written or roleplayed by you; for the personality section in particular, we do not accept copied text from wikis or other sources. Obviously, you may not copy your app from other players, whether in Mayfield or other games. Application plagiarism will result in a ban from the game.

• If you wish for your character to be placed in a specific house, please mention this in the relevant section of the application and specify that permission was obtained by the PCs already residing in that house. We will be operating by the Honor System for this, and there is no need for others to comment their permission in this post!

• Other special requests would also best go in the beginning of the application. Remember, grammar and spelling are important -- if your app contains errors, you will be asked to revise.

• Please post all applications or canon updates in this post; posting them elsewhere and linking to them from here may cause them to get changed later. Posting them here keeps us from having to save them.

When Applying, Fill Out the Following:

When Applying for an Original Character, Fill Out the Following

• Before applying, please look over any applications that were recently accepted to get an idea of what we're looking for.

• If you apply for a character that has already been reserved, we will inform you and ignore the application until the reserve runs out. You may not apply for more than two characters from the same canon. For the sample entry, you may write your own entry, or use a post from a musebox, dressing room, or other game. We recommend [community profile] testrun_box if you prefer the latter!

• After you're accepted, please follow all of the instructions given. You will need to reply to the acceptance, post your journal to the friend add page and your canon post, join the communities, and use the friend add page to update your journal. Once you're accepted, please introduce yourself on the community when you're ready to play.

• If your app is "Pending", do not freak out! This means that we need you to make some revisions, and does not mean you're rejected. We generally give players a chance to revise before rejecting them, but we will reject apps that do not address the concerns stated when we asked for a revision. If you have been rejected, our reply will clearly state this to be the case. If we have not gotten back to you yet, under no circumstance does this mean you are rejected. If it has been over a week since our last reply, it would be a good idea to contact us with a reminder, otherwise, please be patient!

• If you have received a "Pending" notice, you will have one week to supply us with your revisions, or your reserve will be considered expired and that someone else is free to apply for the character.

• The typical wait for a reply on apps may be anywhere from a day to a little over a week. If any part of your application requires a pending, it may be another week after your reply to that before we can get to you. We process a high volume of apps every round, so please be patient.

If you have not heard back on a pending for over a week after apps close, please send a PM directly to the mod account.

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.

Character Name: Queen Chrysalis
Character Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Character Age: Unknown
Background: Chrysalis' wiki page and Changeling section on the wiki
Personality:
Queen Chrysalis is cold, calculating, sneaky, and conniving. As a Changeling, her main ability is to perfectly mimic the appearance and voice of a living being. However, her abilities don't cover the being's personality, so it's up to her to act the part.

She does a fair job in acting, but she can't always hide her true nature perfectly. People close to the one she's impersonating can usually tell that their behavior is off, but sometimes she can find excuses to brush off their worries.

She's a quick thinker and can turn on the tears at will. When Twilight accused her of being evil (and rightfully so), she immediately started crying and ran off sobbing. When she takes a harsh tone at Twilight during the wedding, she realizes her mistake and starts crying.

Once the real Cadance points out that Chrysalis is a fake, Chrysalis stays with her regular, cruel personality. Since she's been revealed, she decides to show her true form.

A good portion of Chrysalis' screen time takes place while she's impersonating Princess Cadence. She's able to fool everypony but Twilight Sparkle. Even though Shining Armor was closer to Cadance than Twilight, it's likely that Chrysalis was able to use her mind control to keep him from realizing the truth.

Chrysalis does excellent research, but there are holes. She knew about a nearly-forgotten section of Canterlot (the old crystal caves), but, even though she masquerading as a pony marrying Shining Armor, she didn't recognize his sister or know Twilight's and Cadance's history together. She's also able to imitate Princess Cadance well enough to not draw any suspicion to herself. Any behavior that was out of place was blamed on wedding stress and jitters, so she was able to get away with being a little nasty.

As a Changeling, her food source is the love of others. She picks a being that is loved and replaces them, slowly draining away the love others have for them. The stronger the love, the more powerful she becomes.

Because she devours love, she is most likely incapable of any kind of love. During part of one her songs; she makes the comment that she doesn't love Shining Armor because "in my heart there is no room". She cares her own way for the other Changelings, however she calls them "subjects" and "minions", so she sees herself above them, for she is their Queen. When Cadance says that her love with give Shining Armor strength, the thinks the idea is ridiculous.

As Queen, she's taken it upon herself to find food sources for the Changelings. She says that Equestria has the most love she's ever seen, which implies they travel around, perhaps much like locusts, draining the love from every place they arrive at. She wants them to absorb all of Equestria's love so that they all will have more power than they've ever dreamed of.

Since she feeds off love, it's possible that normal food does nothing for her. She tries one of Applejack's "best darn bite-sized apple fritters you ever tasted", and looks indifferent while giving a forced-sounding compliment and resists taking some for a snack, eventually throwing them away, while Twilight and the real Cadance obviously enjoyed them greatly.

She is immensely proud, during her time as Cadance, she insisted repeatedly to be called by Cadance's full name and title, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. Also, when she checked on Applejack's work, she seemed irritated; perhaps she thought it beneath her. When Rarity bows to her and tells her how honored she is to work on the wedding, Chrysalis barely acknowledges her. Then, when she looked over Rarity's dresses, she dissed not only the dress made for her, but also those of the bridesmaids'. She was doing a power play to show that she was in control. The three bridesmaids loved the original dresses, but Chrysalis still insisted on having them changed. Her only input towards the bridesmaids' dresses was that they should be a different color; she gave no further instructions or even what color she would like. Interestingly enough, she banished the three bridesmaids and replaced them with the main 6 ponies, making her argument pointless. Perhaps she banished them because they dared to speak against her wishes. Her insisting on a longer train for her dress could also indicate her wanting to show that she was in a higher status. Later, she sings that she could "care less about the dress", proving that she was just causing more work for Rarity.

When Pinkie Pie shows her all the fun things set up for the reception, she insults her plans, saying they would be good for a six year old. Pinkie thinks this is a compliment, so it just rolls off her back. Chrysalis probably thought she was too good for all the nonsense and may not even have the same concept as fun as ponies do.

Another power play of hers was demanding that Shining Armor shouldn't wear an emblem of his favorite uncle's. There's no reason he shouldn't, except that she just doesn't want him to. When he disagrees, he suddenly gets a headache that Chrysalis fixes with her mind control.

Chrysalis isn't afraid to get her hooves dirty, she banished Twilight to the caves when she caused trouble and later, the Queen took on Celestia by herself.

She's also prone to bragging when she thinks she's won, but sometimes her pride is her downfall. She taunted Twilight in the caves with her face and voice, causing Twilight to blast the crystals and find the real Cadance. If she hadn't done that, Twilight may not have found her and Chrysalis could have won. When Twilight and her friends are captured, she taunts them by saying that Twilight had been right all along, but they were too distracted to realize it. She's pleased that she was able to fool everypony, and then she sings about her triumph to herself. She's prone to singing when she thinks she's won. The last time she does so, she ignores her prisoners to gloat and sing, and in doing so, Twilight is able to free Cadance and she and Shining Armor are able to defeat the Changeling Queen.

Chrysalis is very ambitious, she wishes to take over all of Equestria and enslave the ponies to feed off their love. She says she's been dreaming of this day since she was small, perhaps that's helped her be an effective queen. She's greedy in her ambition, even though she doesn't love Shining Armor, she still wants him all to herself, though it may be perhaps because of all the love he has.
Abilities:
Flying - Chrysalis' wings look fragile, but she's a proficient flyer.
Shapechanging - She can change her form to that of any other living being, though she prefers to shift into a female form. The only thing that does not change is her green magic energy, even if the form she takes has a different color for their magic. Clothes can also become part of the transformation (Some of the other Changelings transformed into Applejack, including her hat). Other Changelings cannot tell the difference between an original and a transformed Changeling (While fighting Changelings, some of the 6 main ponies pretended to be Changelings and they were not noticed). The shapechange can be removed with certain kinds of magic (Twilight Sparkle zapped a Changeling back to its original form). Changelings can also swap from one transformation to another without stopping at their true form (One Changeling flipped from several different ponies when facing Pinkie Pie).
Voicechanging - As part of the shapechanging process, her voice changes to that of the one's she's transformed into. However, often her tone will be nastier than the original's.
Mind Control - Along with changing form, Chrysalis has a type of mind control she can use on other beings. She has been shown to control up to four ponies with mind control (Shining Armor and the three bridesmaids) but it's possible she is capable of mass control (she sings that "every stallion, mare, and foal will be under my control"). The mind control allows her to tell the one under her power what to do. However, they seem to regain some of their own self and wants, the three bridesmaids were tricked by a tossed bouquet. Beings under her mind control have a green tint or glow to their eyes. If they are snapped out of being controlled, they don't remember anything that's passed during that time (Shining Armor asked if the wedding was over). Cadance's love magic is the only known thing to remove the mind control, but likely there are other ways.
Love Absorption - Changelings feed on the love other beings have for the one they have transformed into. The process weakens the one being drained, it lowers their abilities until they can't use them at all (Shining Armor eventually was unable to keep up the shield spell he was performing and it shattered because Chrysalis had drained him. He also was having headaches, but it's unknown if it was because of Chrysalis or the strain of putting a shield around an entire city).
Love Sense - Chrysalis can sense love to a certain degree, but she cannot tell the full extent of it (She says that Equestria has the most love she's ever seen, but didn't know that Shining Armor's love would make her stronger than Celestia).
Magic - Her other magic can do several different things:
-Manipulate objects, such as lifting things or closing doors
-Can create green fire. It's unknown if it's hot, but it's definitely a barrier and light source.
-Can send beings downwards through the floor, likely she can also send them through walls and ceilings (She's shown banishing Twilight to the caves below the palace, where Cadance and the three bridesmaids had been sent earlier).
-Can create visual and sound illusions of herself on certain crystals (She taunted Twilight in the crystal caves).
-Can channel her magic energy to make a powerful blast. The power of the blast depends on the quality of the love she's absorbed.
Sticky Goop - Changelings can create a green, sticky goop that can keep a being stuck to the ground or be used similar to ropes to restrain a being (Cadance was stuck to the ground and two guardponies were stuck to the ground and stuck together). The goop can be removed with certain magic (Twilight removed the goop holding Cadance and Shining Armor's love powered shield removed the goop from the guards).
Cocoon - She can create a green cocoons that can hold one individual at a time. It's unknown if they have any other function besides keeping a prisoner (Princess Celestia was placed in a cocoon and did not escape, however, she was weakened at the time.)

Name: Mel

Contact Info: AIM: keltenaasule
Other Characters Played: N/A
Preferred Housing: N/A

Character Name: Ted
Character Series: Suikoden
Character Age: 310 (physically 15)
Background: Biography from the Suikoden Wiki - canon point is after being captured by Windy
Personality: Ted’s life since age seven has had one overarching purpose: survive, and in doing so protect the Soul Eater. Having your village torched and a rune stuck on your hand by your grandfather, being told never to let it fall into the wrong hands, and then being cast out to live on your own isn’t the easiest thing for a little kid to make sense of, but it at least did a great job of impressing a few simple things into Ted’s mind: that the Soul Eater being kept away from evil was worth more than a village’s worth of lives, and that there was no one he could rely on but himself. As he made his way in the world, Ted learned to feed himself, shelter himself, and defend himself however he could. Ted had a short childhood and no one to teach him how to live afterwards, so what he knows is self-learned, but having survived for three hundred years he’s at least learned it thoroughly. His life was more or less destined to be solitary, considering his friendless beginnings and the immortality granted by the rune, but the Soul Eater’s nature makes it even more so -- the people Ted surrounds himself with would likely just die to be absorbed by the rune, which made isolation not only likely but desirable.

With that much weight hanging over him, it’s not too surprising that Ted’s had his fair share of angst about the Soul Eater and everything it entails. Being aware that everyone you get close to will probably die is bad enough -- carrying the rune that causes it and actually seeing it happen is far, far worse. For a long time, Ted saw no joy in life and refused to get close to anyone due to the rune’s curse, and the fact that he was willing to give his rune up to the Fog Ship’s guide even despite his duty to protect it and the less-than-thrilling terms of the deal show how miserable his life was carrying the Soul Eater.

What made more change than anything in Ted’s quality of life was being around the young, happy Tir McDohl. After 300 years of nothing good, Ted couldn’t possibly have expected anything much better out of living with the McDohl household, but the closeness of being like a part of Tir’s family combined with Tir’s infectious friendliness was able to slowly change that. Over the few years Ted lived next door to Tir, their friendship became real, and Ted began enjoying living despite everything that had happened to him. Since then, Ted has been far more cheerful, energetic, and easygoing.

One noticeable thing about Ted is that, underneath all the heavy backstory, he’s really kind of goofy. It’s not the easiest thing to see when he’s angsting, but after several years loosening up around Tir it’s become pretty prevalent. Ted may be over 300, but generally he doesn’t act any older than he looks. You could chalk it up partially to the fact that he never had a childhood and that his life with the McDohls is the first chance he’s gotten to live that way, and partially to his having such a solitary existence previously that he never learned too well how to interact with others. In any case, Ted on a day-to-day basis is a bit weird and pretty immature; at one point he gets into a fight with an eleven-year-old over being called a ‘punk’!

Finally, after spending nearly his whole life carrying the Soul Eater and its burden, it was an enormous relief for Ted to give it up -- even knowing that in doing so he was passing his fate along to his best friend. Afterwards, even knowing Windy will come after him again, he comments that he feels like he can sleep in peace for once. It’s difficult for much of anything to feel like a real issue after having experienced life with the Soul Eater for so long; so much of a weight has been lifted off his shoulders that not much can compete with the relief.

Abilities: As stated above, Ted knows how to take care of himself. He has good wilderness survival skills, compounded with everything one would pick up living on their own for 300 years. He can cook pretty decently, mainly in the sense of being able to throw pretty much anything together as a meal rather than being any kind of gourmet chef. Unsurprisingly, he’s also a skilled fighter. A bow and arrow are his main weapon, but he knows enough about self-defense that he can pick up and use pretty much anything; at one point, Tir comments on how good he is with a staff despite having never really used one before.

The Soul Eater granted immense magical power, but as Ted’s since passed it on to Tir, he no longer has either its offensive abilities or the immortality it grants.

Patrick Jane || The Mentalist

Name: Wren
Personal Journal: [profile] commodoresexual
Contact Info: AIM: Radekgrrl, Plurk: OneStarkWren, Email: commodoresexual@gmail.com.
Other Characters Played: None.
Preferred Housing: N/A
Character Name: Patrick Jane. Most people either just call him Patrick or Jane.
Character Series: The Mentalist
Character Age: 40
Background: History here!
Personality: Patrick has four distinct part of his personality, formed at an early age when he traveled with his father in the carnivals, perfected in his years as a fake psychic, and then forged in the fire of losing his wife and child, and subsequently losing his mind.

The first part of that personality is the charmer - the flim-flam man. He's utterly smooth, wooing the ladies with his big blue eyes and pearly white smile, making the men at ease with his jovial sense of humor and witty banter. He's good at making anyone feel important, just with a few key phrases. Jane uses that charm to get people to do what he wants - usually the most ridiculously parts of his complex plan, or to reveal information they normally wouldn't. He can make them think he's on their side, even when there's nothing further than the truth. You want to trust Patrick Jane.

The next part is the performer - the man behind the curtain. This is Jane sense of theater, his need to make big reveals and draw in the crowd. There is nothing better than an audience in the palm of your hand, and Jane knows how to work a crowd better than most. This is a lot of sleight-of-hand, there and gone again, attitude that makes him the center of attention, where he always liked to be. This part usually awes or irritates everyone around him - usually a combination of the two. He revels in both.

The next part is the analyst - and this is where Patrick's true intelligence lies as a mentalist. This is what lies beneath the charm and the show - this is where he picks up on people's personalities from what they're wearing, what they are saying, how they smell and what it means when they look down and left when you ask them if they love their parents, or up and right. He scientifically dissects people here - coldly and impersonally - and all he has for people who do not have the right 'parts' is disdain which he shows openly. It was this, and the performer combined, that brought Red John to his door.

The last part though - is the real Patrick - the shattered man who is made of fragments. This the good man, who loved his wife and daughter wholly and completely. This is the good man broken, who still mourns them, even eight years down the road. This is the hurt man, drunk on grief, who has turned to vengeance as the one thing that keeps him going. This is the part that wants to punish people for the crimes they've committed - the most heinous of those is lying to people and abusing their trust for profit. The crime he himself was guilty of, and punished by Red John for in the most twisted way possible. This part of him has been there the longest, but was buried because of the life his father made him lead. It is this part of him that makes his few friends loyal to him, and makes him equally loyal to them in turn. This is the part that can offer honest advice, and real sympathy when you least expect it.

Abilities: Patrick Jane is a trained mentalist - which means he has highly advanced mental and intuitive abilities. He has an excellent memory - using what he calls a 'memory palace' to draw and store memories from his subconscious. He's great at sleight of hand, hypnotism, reading people through their body language and their personal belongings, and a variety of other mentalist tricks. He's highly intelligent, a self-educated man who never stops reading or learning new things, especially psychology and human personality.

Sample Entry:
[Patrick is sipping a cup of tea, shaking his head faintly] So today the milkman and I went to round four of 'what horrible things have you tried to give me in my dairy products today?'

[He put the cup down, looking around carefully, before flashing a wide smile as he leaned forward, whispering.] I find it amusing that I can always tell what level of nasty things are in there just by how wide his smile is. Today, for example, he looked like he had swallowed a piece of melon, that's how many teeth I could see.

[He waved one hand, mimicking a conversation between two people.]
We exchanged pleasantries - how are you, how is the wife, blah blah - and that was when he handed over the bottle like he was handing off a bomb.

[Another shake of his blonde head, and a wry smirk quirking his lips briefly.] I figured whatever was in the milk? Probably corrosive, but not so much that it would melt glass. Sadly I'm no chemist, but it did make an interesting sizzling noise when I poured it down the drain.

[He sighed as he picked up his cup of tea again, his tone musing as he brought it up to his lips.] You know, it's a good thing I enjoy my morning tea without dairy products, or I'd be one Grumpy Gus. It was cat feces last week.

James Sunderland | Silent Hill | Reserved

Name: Liz
Personal Journal: [personal profile] steinette
Contact Info: effinscience @AIM // [plurk.com profile] effinscience
Other Characters Played: N/A
Preferred Housing: N/A

Character Name: James Sunderland
Character Series: Silent Hill
Character Age: 29
Background: Here’s a wiki
Personality: James has a very complex relationship with himself. In a word, James has a lot of issues. And I mean a lot. But we’ll get to those in a bit.

James is very much a character with a duality theme to him: He ultimately ends up fighting two Pyramid Heads, he has two women he’s interested in (wife Mary and replacement goldfish Maria), and originally, the writers intended for him to have two distinct personalities. Some of that original idea still carries over, as James usually ends up acting one of two ways: Purely on instinct, which usually results in him acting like an asshole, and when he thinks a bit more, which usually results in him looking stupid. Usually the “switch” is very brief, and when he reflexively does something involving reaction #1 (usually when talking to Laura or Eddie), he almost immediately changes back to his alternate personality. Similarly, Maria and Mary describe him a bit differently, Maria says he’s kind, while Mary says he’s surly and enigmatic, but once you get past that, he’s not a total dick, which indicates that his “real” personality is the one reactionary one, and the kinder, gentler James shown throughout most of the game is a personality he created for himself after Mary’s death.

After his wife fell ill, possibly going along with the creation of this new personality, James became really subservient, especially to women. He rarely raises his voice, only doing it once with Eddie when he calls him crazy, when he yells at Laura for being a brat, and after he faces the pair of Pyramid Heads and accepts what he did. Even when he’s trying to take a bloody knife away from Angela, he’s not at all forceful about it, which isn’t exactly a bad thing to be honest, and later when she yells at him about never loving his wife and finding someone new and being a sex crazed maniac, he doesn’t stand up for himself, instead just standing there and taking it, possibly because part of him knows that it’s at least partially true, or perhaps just because after Mary’s death he lost his ability to respect himself. On a slightly related note, he has a lot of pauses when he speaks, and most of his dialogue exists in a magical land where ellipses are the only punctuation marks available indicating that he trails off when he talks, which goes along with a few of the stupider things he does, like leaving his car door wide open before walking off, keeping his flashlight on while hiding from Pyramid Head in a slatted closet, and sticking his hand into a hole in the wall immediately after being bitten. Perhaps all these things are less because he’s simply an idiot, and more because after blocking out Mary’s death, he simply became really spacey and lost some of his ability to remember things.

Now let’s talk about those issues I warned you about. Most of the monsters wandering around Silent Hill are manifestations of James’ psyche. And they’re pretty fucked up. While hideous, most of the monsters have an odd sort of sexual symbolism; most of them have pouty lips or pretty attractive legs as part of their design, and you could argue that Maria counts as another monster, considering she was born out of James’ desire for his wife to come back and… Well, look at her. Only a few of them break this sexual repression motif, one of them being the Lying Figure who is a representation of James’ suffering according to the Book of Lost Memories, but it also has a resemblance to a person in a straitjacket, which indicates from very early on that James might not be all there in the head; another of the creatures that doesn’t have anything to do with sex are the gigantic bugs, however because those show up in every Silent Hill game, it’s very possible those are simply fauna of the town and have no real significance to anyone; the Abstract Daddy, while it does have to do with sex, it’s actually summoned by Angela’s mind, rather than James. Of course, this was the first game that had the Big Daddy of Silent Hill monsters: Pyramid Head. He looks like the executioner from a painting in the Historical Society depicting Silent Hill’s cult’s beliefs, and he represents James’ guilt and his desire to be punished, and in a lot of ways, he represents James himself; the pyramid on his head hides his face, if he even actually has one otherwise, much like James’ “nice” personality masks the fact that he murdered someone; and, of course, Pyramid Head soaks up the full brunt of James’ sexual repression, as I’m sure everyone with an internet connection and the bare minimum of Silent Hill knowledge has been made aware of by now. Interestingly enough for someone who’s dealing with the rather deranged state of his own mind, he never shows any fear. James will willingly jump down bottomless pits, reach his hand in holes in walls, and other such things. His initial dialogue with Angela reinforces this, considering he says “I guess I really don’t care if it’s dangerous or not,” when she attempts to warn him about the monsters in town. However, the one creature he actively seems afraid of is Pyramid Head - the thing that is supposed to punish him for his deeds - until the final boss fight with both of them when he finally accepts his actions. Though this could partially be because originally he was planning to come to Silent Hill to kill himself, and while he repressed that too, it could have something to do with why he isn’t afraid of getting killed by anything in Silent Hill. He is also very obsessive, mostly seen from the In Water and Rebirth endings, but it also slightly shows throughout the game. He’s infatuated with Mary to the point that his mind invented Maria and that his mind completely covered up how tense their marriage was during Mary’s illness and that he killed her. During the In Water ending, he puts Mary’s dead body in his car and drives it into the lake so that they can be together in death. During the Rebirth ending, he carries out a forbidden ritual to try and resurrect Mary with unknown results.

While it’s obvious that he has issues of his own, James is far more actively worried about other people, especially those who seem mentally imbalanced. He never stops being concerned about Angela when she’s having one of her suicidal fits and he tries to reason with Eddie before he is attacked. He’s always very polite to them when he’s first interacting with them, and he’s actually horrified when he has to kill Eddie, because now he finally killed a human. …Or at least, the first thing he kills that he sees as a human. Considering that if you later go back to where you kill the first monster in the game, you see the area surrounded by police tape… There’s the implication that perhaps James is crazy enough that he simply sees normal humans as monsters. Konami, of course, are clever bastards and refuse to say anything about this, so.
Abilities: Absolutely nothin’ unless you count dull surprise, protagonist cutscene stupidity, and the worst memory of any fictional character ever as abilities. Though he does have some cool swag to earn back, such as a radio that makes noises when one of the manifestations of James’ fucked up psyche is about to try and kill him.
Sample Entry: Sob, I hope you guys don’t mind me linking to a pair of posts that are really old and really on Livejournal on a journal that LJ deleted for shits and giggles.

If you guys do mind, I will gladly write you an actual sample for this instead, but for now:

Personality: Emma Frost is a woman who enjoys the finer things in life. She's attracted to power, only because she herself is a powerful woman who shouldn't be taken lightly. Emma often comes across to others as cold-hearted and snobbish, and she's perfectly fine with that. She's not a fan of forming close relationships with others, out of a distant fear of being alone. It's better off to keep others at an arms length than to face the pain when they eventually leave.

Despite an icy outlook on life, Emma is able to be soft and caring at times. She loves teaching, and is willing to lay her life on the line for others. Dedicated to fighting for her fellow mutants, Emma will do whatever it takes in order to suceed, and hardly lets others stand in her way she she's set on a goal.

Wry with a sarcastic class, Emma is a deliverer of sharp-tongued, painfully truthful comments. She's unafraid to speak her mind, even if it can be hurtful towards others. Emma is a perfectionist through and through, and doesn't settle for second best in anything. Emma can be a coy tease when she feels it's called for, using her looks and uppercrust attitude to get what she wants. She knows it selfish, and it is something she's trying to fix about herself, but why fix what isn't broken?

RED Scout | Team Fortress 2 | Reserved | 2/?

[personal profile] scoot 2012-05-04 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Team Fortress 2 is a First Person Shooter game that unfortunately has very little plot. The plot that is there is a very simple one. Basically, one company in control of one side of the world is constantly at arms with the company controlling the other side, both of which are given the orders to capture parts the other company controls by a mysterious woman with simply a title for a name. Since the plot is so basic, there really isn't much information given about the classes one can play as. Their history, for the most part, is up in the air, though the official website for the game does occasionally have comics starring the classes posted. These comics can give you a bit of information, but not much.

All that is known about Scout is that he was born and raised in Boston, and being the youngest of eight in his household, learned at a relatively young age to train his legs to the point where he could outrun his older brothers and beat them to the fights they were hoping to engage in. Of course, after finally being able to outrun his brothers, Scout adopted a strong method of offense, with his favorite weapon being a baseball bat dubbed The Sandman. Also occasionally using a pistol (The Scattergun or The Force-A-Nature), Scout grew to become a decent fighter, though he never thinks twice about using his speed to his advantage.

Personality:

Scout is, in short, a very boisterous and energetic young man. Spewing out insults such as 'chucklefuck,' 'chucklenuts,' 'blockhead,' and 'knucklehead', he clearly doesn't care about being even the slightest bit friendly to anyone, even his teammates. On occasion, he will slip out a 'thanks,' but it's pretty rare, and when it happens, it's inevitable that it won't be long until another insult comes flying out of his mouth. His accent is sometimes hard to decipher, since it's a heavy Boston one, but once someone is around him long enough they tend to pick up on the way he says things. (For the most part, words ending with an 'r,' like 'liar,' adopt more of an 'ah' sound at the end, like 'liah'.) He is also very boastful -- this can prove to be annoying to others, and it clouds the Bostonian's mind where he can't see any faults that he has. In the Meet the Scout video, he's seen saying that he's 'a big deal,' and that his muscles are 'beautiful'. In all honesty, one can barely see any muscles at all, proving that Scout has a fairly large ego, at least in that sense.

A big ego isn't the man's only personality flaw. He's also extremely impatient -- in the Meet The Spy video, he is seen literally yelling at the Soldier on his team to hurry up and unlock the door to the room in their base with important information hidden in a briefcase because they have no time to waste. Scout despises wasting time. In fact, as soon as a mission starts in the game, Scouts are usually the first class to run the heck out of the respawn point and toward the action. Life is short and there's only so much time to get stuff done, right? At least, that's Scout's point of view.

Scout, being the youngest class in Team Fortress 2, still obviously cares about his mother, which is evidenced by some of the things he says when the player earns an achievement while playing as him. He quite happily says, "hi, Ma!" and "look at me, Ma!" then, meaning that he's hoping his mother is paying attention to what he's doing and is hopefully proud of him, though he'd most likely never go out and actually announce that specifically. He also has a fondness for baseball, which can also be tied to the fact that he's still pretty young. He wears the same type of trousers a professional baseball player wears, as well as a batter's helmet and athletic shoes, and his main weapon is a baseball bat, which he swings with ease, most likely due to watching and studying his favorite teams play on television. If he actually shows interest in another person, (which is extremely rare and only shown in one of the official Team Fortress 2 comics), he may bring up baseball with them as it's a subject he's fairly knowledgeable in.

He enjoys caffeinated beverages, his favorite being a concoction known as Bonk! Atomic Punch. (How he obtains these beverages is pretty much unknown, and he seems to have a relatively large supply of them.) These drinks amplify his energy, though even without them he's known to literally bounce off of walls. Usually his energy is used to dart away from the enemy as soon as he whacks them with either his trusty bat or the baseball hit by his bat, so he suffers minimal, or preferably no damage, and Bonk! Atomic Punch helps him even further by speeding up his step to push him out of harm's way. The fact that he drinks so many of these beverages probably proves that Scout isn't the healthiest man, in that he doesn't eat and drink things that are 'good' for him. In the Jarate advertisement, Scout is seen eating a taco, and in an official drawing, he mentions hot dogs. Nowhere does he ever mention anything remotely healthy, and though it's pretty evidenced that he cares about his mother, he may not actually listen to everything she suggests he should do. Either way, he's a fast-talking, even faster-moving force to be reckoned with, and his poor eating habits don't seem to affect his ability to fight.

[personal profile] konge 2012-05-04 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Modern day Denmark proudly holds the title of ‘world’s happiest country’ and the human representation reflects this in both his mannerisms and his smile. Denmark tends to default to happiness; he’s almost always smiling and regards others with a cheerful disposition. Even when facing snark from Norway or a hanger to the head from Belarus, he can shrug it off and smile as if he doesn’t give a damn. This shows a strange sort of obliviousness on his part. It’s almost as if he just doesn’t want to imagine people would be rude to him. Though it’s more that he sees things from a very skewed perception. This is because Denmark is the greatest in his mind and no other opinions are valid to him.
There was a time when the belief that Denmark is the greatest may not have been inaccurate. As a skilled tradesman and a formidable conqueror, he had a great deal of the world under his thumb for some time. However, it became obvious that he was biting off more than he could chew and the power he wielded was waning due to the vast quantity of it. Eventually, he allowed most of his claimed lands to slip out of his fingers and he slid back to his corner in Northern Europe. That being said, he’s still constantly trying to be the boss of his Brother’s. This in itself is telling, because despite his great ambitions he never seemed all that power hungry. It seemed more like he was out for influence and simply to take what he liked. No matter how far he spread this influence, he always came back to the Nordic circle. Which above all things, he seems to desire power over.
Denmark likes to be referred to as ‘Big Brother’ by his fellow Nordics. This is because he enjoys the endearment and respect it shows, but also because he is quite a bit older than his brothers and many other countries. While other countries were slowly growing into the nations they are today, Denmark was a fast mover and grew up with speed. He used his advantages to build armies and set sail to beat up anyone within range. This ambitious attitude has settled in the last thousand years, but it never died. Denmark is still a very advanced society and it does well for itself. However, the Denmark we meet in Mayfield will not be this far ahead.

Character Name: Captain Steven “Steve” Rogers, aka Captain America.
Character Series: Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Character Age: Physically he's in his twenties.
Background: Wiki, get.
Personality:

One of the reasons Steve was picked for the super-solider project was for understanding the value of strength. Even as a frail, weak man, he would willingly stand up to defend people against bullies. Of course, this meant he got beaten up a lot, but he took it in his stride and even jokes about it. After gaining his super human abilities, he retains his spirit, has a strong sense of justice and will not abide the abuse of power, no matter where or who it comes from. He just wants to do good by people, and will do whatever he can to protect the innocent. He has a big heart and, after years of being pushed around, is mentally strong as well as physically.

Steve is very loyal to his ideals, and while other people were worried about being killed overseas, he was more than ready to fight back for what he believed in. He values human life and will put himself in danger if there's even a slight chance he can save other people. For example, he single-handedly infiltrated the Hyrda base to save his best friend and a group of other soldiers, even though it went against orders and he was ready to face the consequences for his actions. He grew to become both a symbol and a leader under the alias of Captain America. He is very sharp when it comes to military tactics and can give a pretty darn good speech to get the troops spirits up.

Being the peak of human perfection may have solved his all his physical problems, he's still the same weedy guy who never gave up underneath all that muscle. He can be rather awkward, especially around girls. According to him he was ignored by girls because he was so frail, which meant he never really got used to talking to them, and can be quite bashful still around them. He tries his best to be as polite as possible, but his chivalrous mannerisms might seem a bit outdated. Steve does recognize a lot of his faults, and has his own brand of dorky, naïve humour that can come across as self-deprecating at times.

After being trapped in ice and waking up in the modern day, he's definitely out of touch with the new world. He answers cultural references he doesn't get with blank stares, and actually gets excited when he does actually understand something. Still, though he's still the same guy who'd throw himself on a grenade to protect people, he's understandably a tad bitter and mourning for the time and people he lost at this point.

Though he's generally a rather grounded, sensible guy, he can get wound up pretty fast and does have a bit of a temper. He can be quick to challenge someone he feels will be a threat or compromise the mission at hand. Steve can also be obnoxiously stubborn about what he believes is right and will rarely back down when he or someone else is threatened. If he is absolutely set on an idea and believes it to be morally right, he will pursue it no matter what even if it breaks rules, such as lying on enlistment forms when he was first trying to get into the army, despite the fact it was illegal.

For all he's been through, Steve doesn't regret going with the experiment, and appreciates what he has. He was a strong person trapped inside the body of a weak man, but the serum has freed him from that. He's healthy, he now can do some good in protecting the world, and for that he is grateful.

Abilities: Thanks to the serum, he's at the peak of human perfection. He's stronger, faster and has higher endurance and a faster reaction time. He heals quicker than an average person, and the serum also eliminated his past health problems like asthma. He is also trained in combat and has a-- unique fighting style which involves throwing a shield around like a frisbee.

Personality:
Norway is a mysterious man of very few words, though his lack of speech is certainly not through an inability to be eloquent. He is more of a watcher than a talker, and his additional lack of any extreme facial expressions under most circumstances has been known to make people uncomfortable when trying to converse with him. Most people don’t really try more than once, but those who do would be rewarded as he becomes more open and vocal in subsequent interactions. When Norway does decide to speak, he is often blunt to the point of being rude, and will rarely apologise for being so unless it becomes apparent that he has genuinely upset the person that he’s speaking to.

In his childhood, Norway was rather more animated than he is today, but difficult events over several hundred years of his life forced most of his emotions to introspection, and he no longer shows very much emotion on his face. Indeed, to look directly at his eyes would show that they seem to be heavily shuttered, with nothing showing behind them, as if he didn’t have emotions at all. It is only in times of extreme emotional distress that this façade will break, and when this happens he has trouble reining himself back in. While he is as capable as anyone else to be given to raucous laughter or fierce temper, he would most certainly rather not, being uncomfortable with letting anyone in that close.

He is quite shy around strangers, when it suits him, but tends to over-act in order to give an impression of confidence. Denmark is often the butt of his jokes and the target of his scathing wit (for example when he stated that the man was too noisy when he was selling toys), though he will never push it too far – there are some things that he knows he can’t say, references to the past that still sting even after so much time has passed. He is fond of Denmark, despite his constant teasing of the man, and also holds Iceland very close to his heart, often trying to persuade the younger man to call him ‘big brother’ since finding out that they are ‘genetically’ linked.

Although it has been some six hundred years since the Black Plague almost utterly decimated Norway’s population and economical system, Aleksander still worries overly if he becomes ill. Currently, Norway’s economy is one of the best in Europe, but that doesn’t keep him from fretting if he develops any kind of (often imagined) cough or headache. However, he is fiercely independent and very proud, so will rarely ask for any kind of help until he direly needs it, and will staunchly resist being told what to do even when it is something that would be in his best interest.

Being as stoic as he is, Aleksander does not make friends very easily, with most people being put off by his attitude and tendency to stare silently rather than speak. If you get past that first wall, however, you would find as good a friend as you could ever hope to have. He will give calm and well thought-out advice when and where it is needed, and will always repay a good deed. If crossed, however, he can hold a grudge for a very long time.

Other Characters Played: Nope. Previously played Fujimura Taiga and am re-apping her.
Preferred Housing: N/A

Character Name: Archer (AKA 'EMIYA')
Character Series: Fate/Stay Night
Character Age: Unknown, estimated 'age' late twenties to mid thirties.
Background: http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Archer_%28Fate/stay_night%29
Personality: Archer's surface personality can be summarized as 'full of snark'. He gives the appearance of someone who is incredibly laid back yet also incredibly analytical and more than a little cynical about things around him. Archer will waste absolutely no time in pointing out someone's shortcomings with blunt honesty, friend or foe, and tends to be irritatingly perceptive about it to boot. Despite this, in a relaxed environment and among friends, Archer is a little more friendly than he'd care to admit. His sarcastic quips directed at friends or allies tend to be more of a show of 'tough love' in serious situations, and is encouraging them to improve themselves somehow. Equally, he could just be poking fun at them because it happened to be entertaining at the time. He will also do small things to help someone in need or other compliment them, such as making them tea or the like, though usually not without still being coy or complaining slightly about doing such even if it was of his own will.

This, of course, is all that's on the surface. To understand Archer's full psychology, one must look at the person he used to be. A disaster he barely remembers now that had happened long ago in his youth gave him a horrible case of survivor's guilt and destroyed his sense of self, only able to feel regret about those who had died that were not saved. He himself would have died were it not for a miracle that would eventually implant the idea of being a hero of justice in his mind...an image his mind would latch onto for the rest of his life. He could not feel any satisfaction or pride from his own life alone, and could only feel fulfillment if he was able to save or protect others even at the cost of his own health, time, and life. As such, this ideal of being a hero who could save others was the only real goal Archer could make for himself.

Naturally, reality ensued. Though he was compassionate and wanted to be able to save people who endangered both themselves and others, he found himself being forced into situations where he had to sacrifice one to save ten, ten to save a hundred, a hundred to save a thousand and more. This began to wear at his previously pure ideal of being a hero of justice, gradually making him more stoic and reserved, but he still pursued it with the justification that the ends justified the means...even if it meant being unable to fulfill his wish. What's more, his lack of self was in turn a danger to himself and others as suspicions floated towards him...it was impossible for someone to not want something out of their actions, wasn't it? But Archer had no self or pride to speak of, and was fully aware of this even as it gradually destroyed him. The breaking point would come after his death, which due to his own dealings and flaws, turned into an endless nightmare in which he could only see the worst of human beings and be unable to do anything but clean up after each and every disaster with blood on his hands.

After this, Archer was broken and fell into despair, unable to reconcile his ideal with reality and being too far gone to change himself away from it. His surface personality hides a very calculating stoic who lost all hope for himself and the world around him, still following the idea of 'for the greater good' even as he bitterly mocks his old wish and idealism. If he must kill or do some horrible deed to meet a justified end, he will do so without batting an eyelash, and can be shockingly cold when he does so, even against people he has cared about at some point or another. At the same time, however, Archer hasn't lost all decency...anytime he pursues this mindset it is an attempt to either set a situation 'right' somehow or because there is no other option. Though Archer mocks his old ideals and is fond of his 'tough love' approach, he is still a kind individual deep down. A lot of his gestures of compassion on the surface are genuine, and though he will often remain guarded about himself as much as possible, Archer will still show this in indirect manners, such as when he gave Rin his coat while she slept out in the cold. Even as he acts on his pragmatism in pursuit of a goal, Archer will often soften the blow for those uninvolved or act in ways so that casualties are to a minimum...even if it's not immediately apparent to those witnessing this, often seeing only his cold stoicism and determination.

Despite how weathered and jaded Archer has become, he is still a very determined and kind-hearted individual deep underneath all of it...and often finds himself resenting this fact.
Abilities: Hoo boy. Prepare for Nasuverse BS, folks. Archer, as summoned as a heroic spirit (sort of, in his case) is physically superhuman compared to an average person, though Archer himself is considerably weaker than a lot of other participating Servants. His stats could roughly be considered a bit above the peak of human potential, being strong, fast, and fairly durable yet still paling in comparison to say, Berserker or a fully-powered Saber. He also has the ability to become intangible and thus a true 'spirit' until he manifests again. Where Archer shines isn't raw power, but his finesse in battle. Archer has the ability to examine an item or weapon and near-instantly discern its properties and materials, a skill he had picked up in training Reinforcement in his youth. Reinforcement, in turn, lets him strengthen an object or parts of himself to become more durable or repair objects to their original shape.

Then there is his main ability, which is his Reality Marble (or a world that exists inside of his heart) known as 'Unlimited Blade Works' and Projection. Archer can copy the materials and composition of any weapon he has seen and the abilities it contains, albeit slightly degraded due to being an imitation. His Reality Marble stores these weapons and prepares them for use, then he projects it into reality for him to use as a weapon himself. Notably, he tends to use such swords as either melee weapons or launches blades using a bow. Two notable weapons he prefers to use for melee are the twin yin-yang blades known as Kansho and Bakuya, which are magically attracted to each other and function as magnets to one another when used. A given ability with Noble Phantasms (or weapons of legend) is being able to overload them and use them as 'Broken Phantasms', which are powerful attacks but permanently destroy said weapon. Since Archer only makes imitiations and can do so in a plentiful manner, this is often employed by him to compensate for differences in raw power. He can project multiple swords at once by preparing them within Unlimited Blade Works and then projecting them en masse. Also, Archer can choose to deploy his Reality Marble and have it cover a given area surrounding him, which lets him call any weapon he has within his arsenal at will and near-instantly.

This all has a drawback that is a given for all Servants: all of these abilties are dependant on magical energy from a contract with a Master. Without it and having his Servant body back, Archer will be in danger of being unable to sustain himself in combat or even mundane day-to-day activites, lacking energy to manifest a body or even exist within the physical world. Even with a contract, how much Archer can do or sustain himself upon is dependant on how much energy and mastery thereof his chosen Master will have. He is already not particularly strong a Servant without his abilities even with a capable Master, so this would likely be a grave handicap. Something that slightly deters this is that he posseses Independent Action, which lets him exist without a Master for a limited amount of time, though he'd still be running on fumes in terms of prana to spare.

Archer also has the ability to think calmly and analyze a situation in the heat of battle, regardless of how much of his attention is being taken up. He also posseses a mild form of Clairvoyance (done with Reinforcement), which gives him the ability to track distant or fast-moving objects to a range of 4 kms. Needless to say, this greatly complements both his archery skills and scouting. He also posses a slight amount of Magic Resistance, which reduces the effectiveness and damage done to him by magical effects, though he does not possess a high enough rank for this to cause any notable inconvenience to any said mage unless they are incredibly inept or using a weak technique.

Celes Chere | Final Fantasy VI | RESERVED | 2/?

[personal profile] scoot 2012-05-04 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Celes Chere is a powerful young woman who has been through an unmeasurable amount of hardship. Knowing exactly what happened to her right after she was born, Celes holds a little more than a 'bit' of a grudge against Kefka Palazzo and his army, and this is shown several times throughout the game.

When the player first meets Celes, they may think she has a very cold personality, which at that point she pretty much does. As she was recently a general in Kefka's army, Celes doesn't particularly care for many personal questions from someone she has just met, and so when Edgar asks her about love she pushes him away with a forceful and blunt response. It can be assumed that this personality is one that primarily stems from her role as a general in such a demanding and emotionally draining army, like Kefka's, and so such personal questions most likely bother her in the sense that they bring back memories of the pain she caused so many others while leading troops to war.

A very important part of the game, at least in terms of explaining Celes' personality, would be the opera scene. During this time, it is suggested that Celes disguise herself as the opera star Maria and perform in the play so that the party may obtain Setzer's ship. Setzer wished to kidnap Maria since he was in love with her, so once Celes would be kidnapped the entire party could sneak onto the ship. Celes, obviously not to happy with the idea, would shortly reply that she is 'not an opera floozy' and it would take much convincing for her to take Maria's role. Why was she so adamant about not performing in the play? Her response to the entire idea suggests that she's not the stereotypical woman of her age and doesn't fall in love easily; it also suggests that she can carry her own weight since she also states her military background in this scene.

Another important part would be the time when Celes and the rest of the party entered the Magitek Research Facility and discovered the fact that Espers were killed for the sole purpose of allowing normal humans to use magic. Once Cid, Celes' adoptive guardian and inventor of the Magitek technology, discovers that the party is there, he announces to everyone Celes' loyalty to the Magitek Empire (by asking if the party are her troops and plainly asking if she were a spy) and before Celes can even think to defend herself, the party decides that she has been a traitor and a spy the entire time. This obviously hurts her since at this point she had been with the party for quite a while and arguably had started to become closer to certain party members, notably Locke Cole. Insisting that she would protect him for once, instead of being protected (as she was by him when he saved her from being killed very early in the game), she shows her dedication and power by using a very strong ice spell to knock her foes (Kefka's minions) out. Unfortunately this backfires a bit as the containers holding the Espers captive break and Celes ends up getting shot out of the facility from the impact.

The most important part of the story, the one that really shows Celes' true personality, is when the World of Balance (the world everyone inhabits for the first half of the game, the 'calm' world) is destroyed and Celes awakens on her own, with only Cid nearby. Celes of course worries about her teammates, her friends at this point, and attempts to search for them. During her search she comes across a bird with a bandanna on it – closer inspection of which leads to the discovery that the bandanna is indeed Locke's, and she holds onto it in hopes that it signifies the fact that her friends are all alive. Searching for the others and holding onto the one physical thing that proves the existence of them proves that Celes is strong-willed. She could have given up on everything, on life, and she even attempts to at some point, but in the end she chooses not to, as such a decision affects not only herself but those who really care about her, as well.

There are of course other points in the story that show Celes' personality, but the prior ones are possibly the most important. Celes is a character who has had a rough start, but she makes up for it once she decides the party and their goals are truly good people and assists them in every way she can to save the world. Though she becomes a bit more attached to certain members of the party than others, she cares for all of them and would do anything, potentially including giving her own life, to save them. She has physical strength, magical strength (albeit not by choice as she was infused with it at birth) and emotional strength as well. Her morals are admirable – the fact that she was kicked out of Kefka's army in the first place was entirely due to these morals, since she refused to take part in poisoning an entire town full of people. Yes, she has her downfalls, particularly the entire 'suicide scenario,' but she is arguably well-adjusted considering all she has went through.

thanks!

Personal Journal: duncefieldsamurai
Contact Info: gekifire@plurk
Other Characters Played: Basco ta Jolokia, Yukihina, Hibari Kyoya, Fran, Hyuuga
Preferred Housing: With Otoya Kurenai

Character Name: Maya
Character Series: Kamen Rider Kiva
Character Age: At least 400 years old
Background: Taken from the very end of the series, Otoya's time-line.
Maya is the human form of the Pearlshell Fangire and the original Queen of the Checkmate Four in 1986, possessing the Queen tattoo on her palm. She consort to the King, giving birth to Nobori Taiga. Due to her status, Maya is in charge of executing any Fangire who betrays their kind, accompanied by Kivat-bat the 2nd. She lived for centuries, meeting Antonio Stradivari and Antonio Vivaldi and becoming their pupil, gaining an admiration for their genius and a love for human art. After Vivaldi's death, Maya found no other human like him until she crosses paths with Otoya, questioning her mission and the concept of love. As a result, while accompanying Otoya while he lost his memory, she starts to question humanity. Eventually, Maya is forced to reveal her true identity as a Fangire to Otoya when attacked by Dogga. But when Otoya refuses to kill her, she asks him to let her help him into creating an ideal violin for him to show his true potential, which would be named the Bloody Rose. However, in spite of Otoya telling her that they can never meet again, Maya falls in love with Otoya instead of her initial intent to kill him. This is expressed when Otoya and the King face off and later when she assaults Dark Kiva to hold him while Yuri escapes with Otoya, resulting with Maya being stripped of her title, rank, and powers as the Queen. Soon after the death of the original King, Maya stays by Otoya's side in his final moments.

[personal profile] queenoffangaia 2012-05-04 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Maya is a very kind woman, even though she is supposed to be ruthless, as her role is to kill the fangrie that fall in love with humans. She is a pleasantly acting woman, and she is very polite to anyone she speaks to. She is nice even towards the woman who is in love with the man that she is in love with – Kurenai Otoya.
She is gentle. She cares for people, and then most of all of her son Taiga and as time passess, Otoya.

At times, however, it might happen that she sneak in a little venom in her words. And this, again, would mostly be towards the one in love with her dear Otoya. Her tongue can turn sharp, and she can disarm people with her words alone at some instances. However, there are a few people that she can't defeat in any way; for example Bishop and King.

She is a very clever woman, and throughout the years, she has learnt a lot of different things. She was once the student of Stradivari, and also to Vivaldi. She fell in love with their genius and passion for the violin. She is intelligent, and even when so many many years has passed since she learned how to use the violin, she still remember it perfectly. She knows very much of very many things.
She is interested in humanity, and is intrigued by their odd behavious, which differ so greatly from the fangrie. She question their ability to love, and marvels over the feeling.

Maya can also be quite stubborn. She don't give in easily, and stand for what she believe in. Even if this means facing people more powerful than she is.

Although she is supposed to execute the Fangrie that fall in love with humans and the fangrie who act upon these feelings, the same happen to her. She never meant to, but as she got to know him, she fall in love with Kurenai Otoya more and more. At first, she tried not to act upon those feelings, because she knew that fangrie are supposed to hate and feed upon humans, but in the end, she can't. And even though she is queen, and thus naturally the wife on the King of her time – as well as the fact that she already have given birth to a son named Taiga – she end up starting a relationship with Otoya, because she can't help but love him. She love the love he has for playing the violin.
She try to hide her true identity as the fangrie Queen from him, but in the end, she choose to reveal it for the sake of protecting Otoya from Jiro in his Wolfen form.
She become more and more attached, and fall in love with him so badly.
Her feelings for him is what ultimately lead to her downfall. She is stipped from her powers because she fall in love with a human, because she stop killing the fangries in love with humans. She start to believe that love is equal even if one party is fangrie and the other is human, and try to defend fangrie who are of the same opinion.

She is a skilled – although not perfect – fighter, and she can be both fierce and ruthless in battle. This is what is demanded of her as she is the fangrie Queen, after all.
However, she isn't very fond of battles, and many times, she wish that she didn't need to kill the fangrie and humans who fall in love between the races.

[personal profile] guardsthenight 2012-05-04 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Catie
Personal Journal: darkjewel79 on livejournal.com
Contact Info: On both Plurk and AIM: Catie79
Other Characters Played: Caroline Martinez
Preferred Housing: Whoever wants da pony

Character Name: Princess Luna
Character Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Character Age: Unknown, at least a thousand years old and probably a good bit older
Background: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Princess_Luna
Personality:
When a pony first meets Princess Luna, they see a strong, independent pony with a habit of forgetting that it’s not a thousand years ago and using her royal Canterlot voice. Her voice booms and her appearance is still similar to Nightmare Moon. Unlike her beloved older sister, Princess Luna represents the night with a dark, starry mane and tail. Combined with her royal guard, her history, and the fact that she’s only out at night, her subjects tend to treat her with respect mixed with fear. They’re not eager to get close to this princess.

Underneath the occasional yelling and royal ‘we’s is a confused, somewhat awkward, rather lonely pony that wants her subjects to love her, not fear her. As soon as Nightmare Moon was destroyed, Princess Luna tearfully reunited with her sister. After the Nightmare Night festival turns into ponies screaming in fear at her, Twilight Sparkle finds her looking very sad and lost outside of the village. The times have changed and she doesn’t know how to interact with her subjects anymore. Rather than the bitterness that created Nightmare Moon, the princess feels sad and frustrated.

With some help, she’s able to show her actual personality. She enjoys playing games and has a sense of humor for pranks. This princess enjoys fun, even if she doesn’t always get just what fun is. With Twilight Sparkle, she shows a softer side that worries about her subjects and desperately wants their approval and friendship. By the time the royal wedding rolls around, she wants to be part of the group, even though her nocturnal nature keeps her out of the thick of things.

Of course, the princess also has one heck of a temper. When her subjects start running about and screaming while she’s trying to have fun with them, she becomes angry and orders them all to ‘be still!’ with a crack of lightening. She berates them, cancelling the festival forever before taking off. Her temper fades almost as quickly as it flares up, though. She forgives everything shortly afterward. Her sense of humor can be dry and sarcastic, though she usually directs comments of those type at herself.

Her duty is to raise the moon, and as she tells her sister Celestia, she also guards the night. She takes her duties seriously and considers protecting Equestria and her subjects to be the most important thing in her life. She loves her sister and wants to make up for her fall a thousand years ago. Much of her actions these days can be linked to her feelings of remorse for what she did when she became Nightmare Moon, but she is starting to make peace with it. Her loyalty to her sister will always be absolute after being forgiven so completely.

Abilities:
Raising the moon - . . . which really doesn’t need to happen in Mayfield, so a moot point
Weather control - She has basic weather control, meaning moving clouds around and calling on lightning
Animating objects - Luna is seen to turn toy spiders into real spiders
Unicorn magic - As a winged unicorn, Luna has the ability to do magic. Based on Celestia and Twilight Sparkle, she should have the ability to use an attack that is like a beam of energy, but she has not been seen in a fight since she was Nightmare Moon and has had no reason to use it

It should be noted that Princess Luna is very much nocturnal and will not be out much during the day.

Other Characters Played: Feferi Peixes ([personal profile] cullscuttlefish) and Usagi Tsukino ([personal profile] eternalfuture)
Preferred Housing: pending permission from Ryoma's player, 842 Goldberg - I have permission from Chez, Cappy, and Waffle already.

Character Name: Neku Sakuraba
Character Series: The World Ends With You
Character Age: 15
Background: Wiki!

Personality: At the beginning of the game, Neku Sakuraba is seen talking about the world in terms of 'Go away', 'I don't need you', and other such negative phrases. He closes the world out via his headphones and doesn't make eye contact with other people. He's blunt when he's called out on it, stating that other people are useless. He also argues that if you don't let anyone in, they can't hurt him.

Neku idolizes the graffiti artist CAT, and strongly believes in the motto 'do what you want, how you want, when you want'. He doesn't want to be tied down by any attachments to other people - they would just keep him from doing what he wants. So why bother with them? Better to let them do what they want and not bother.

Once he dies and starts playing in the Reapers' Game, he's forced to start opening up to other people. It's impossible to survive in the game for long without a partner, because without one, the Noise will attack and erase the player. He initially teams up with a girl named Shiki Misaki. She's constantly on his case to get him to talk to her. Initially, he refuses, with the excuse that she's just in his way. He doesn't trust her, to the point he almost erases her on the suggestion that she's talking to the Reapers.

Eventually, she convinces him to at least listen to other people. He starts to open up to them - until the death of a friend. Neku closes up again, claiming that if he hadn't started to listen to people, he wouldn't have gotten hurt. But by the end of the seven-day Game, he's started to realize that people aren't as bad as he thinks.

This becomes even more evident in the second week - even with a partner who he admits annoys him to no end. Joshua's frustrating at best and downright snotty at worst, but Neku keeps reminding himself that the important thing is to trust his partner - as far as he can trust him - and keep an open mind.

Through the course of multiple runs through the Reapers' Game, Neku shows that he's determined and focused underneath the callousness. He goes from thinking people are annoying and friendship is pointless to actively seeking out his friends. He's able to adapt, to change, to grow, and with it, change not only his own world view, but the world outside his personal bubble.

Abilities: Neku is highly adept at using 'psychs' to attack enemies. These psychs are dependent on the pins he's wearing at any given time. There are a total of 64 psychs available in the game; they are listed on the wiki.

Neku is also able to summon Noise, making him the only non-Reaper who can do so.

Sample Entry:

[There was one problem that stood out above the rest of the problems with Mayfield, according to Neku. It was annoying not to have his headphones or his regular shoes. And yeah, bad stuff happened, but he'd already died once. It didn't get a whole lot worse.

No, the problem? Boredom. You could only do so much before it started to get to you.

This is why Neku was standing outside the back door of the school gym with a few cans of spray paint.]

All right. I'm not Mr. H, but I've seen enough of his work to know what I'm doing.

[He popped the top off one of the cans, thinking for a minute before starting to spray.

He wasn't expecting a drone cop to come tap him on the shoulder.]

Yeah, I'd better bounce -

[Too late. At least painting over his own graffiti attempt was something to do.]

Re: Ky Kiske | Guilty Gear: Overture

[personal profile] kyrannical 2012-05-06 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Ky is very religious. For a very long time, he saw things entirely in black and white, as either good or evil with no room for anything in between. Nevertheless, he was at least open-minded enough to reconsider this worldview based on the dying words of the enemy of humanity who tried to wipe out all mankind, so there’s that. He’s matured throughout his character development, moving from the commander of the army trying to eliminate all the Gears to deciding to create a safe haven for peaceful Gears in his kingdom by the end of Overture.

He’s relentless in his pursuit of justice, not hesitating to pursue his ideals even if they lead him into conflicts with his superiors. He spends the earlier games trying to investigate what justice actually means, proving him to be inquisitive on top of his single-mindedness. His loyalties lie with his own ideals, not the laws themselves, especially after his character development, which is why he starts working with criminals and pursuing the corruption in the law. This seems to apply to his religious beliefs too, having slept with Dizzy and had a child with her without officially marrying her.

He’s incredibly stubborn and refuses to give up. He continually stalks confronts Sol for fights, no matter how many times he loses (spoilers: every time), and demands that Sol fight him seriously instead of holding back. This stubbornness can lead to workaholic tendencies, which is implied to be part of the reason he neglected his son; Ky was so busy working to help other people’s families that he never spent time with his own. In general, Ky is very protective, sometimes to the point of putting himself in danger to make sure everyone is safe. This can easily bite him in the ass, with the most obvious example being in an alternate timeline where Ky was killed by a Gear after going into a battlefield to make sure I-no was okay even after being suspicious of her motives.

He has a sense of honor that could politely be called “chivalrous,” holding back against female opponents. Whenever he tries to make jokes, they’re generally pretty stilted, or he has to explain that he was joking afterwards. He’s overly formal and serious, and his narration tends to have somewhat flowery, dramatic metaphors. He’s also fairly idealistic, even after being exposed to more of the corruption of the world. Whether it’s saving Dizzy because he doesn’t believe she’s a threat to humanity or going out of his way to individually stun Dr. Paradigm’s brainwashed friends as they’re storming his castle because the other option is to kill them, he consistently picks the more hopeful, if naïve, solution.

Also even after all this the majority of the cast hates him because he’s the authority figure and he’s a pain in the ass who’s trying to harsh their illegal grooves.

Abilities: Ky is a very powerful lightning magic user, which is a rare and difficult form of magic in his universe. He mostly uses his magic in conjunction with his sword skills; he has lightning projectiles, can engulf himself in electricity, and can call down lightning bolts to strike opponents. Overture also shows him capable of dash spells (basically, he moves really fast…) and at one point opening up a portal to teleport another character, which is also considered high-level magic. He also has access to Soul Sinker magic in Overture, which is the gameplay explanation for the summons that the characters control; while Sol's tribe are servants created from his soul, Ky's (and Sin's, because they have the same tribe) are explicitly the human knights of Illyria. They act exactly as Sol's do, but it's not clear if he's actually using magic or just bossing his troops around.

Preferred Housing: 7135 Brooks street (Permissions already acquired)

Character Name: Tohru Honda
Character Series: Fruits Basket
Character Age: 16
Background: http://fruitsbasket.wikia.com/wiki/Tohru_Honda

Personality:
Tohru Honda is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She's polite, caring, and considerate. If someone needs help, even if they're a total stranger, she'll do her best to lend them a hand. And if they're a friend, then Tohru is the type to go above and beyond the call of duty. And she won't even spare a thought for her own inconvenience. When Valentine's day came, she spent so much money on chocolates for her friends, that she didn't have enough left over for school expenses, and had to work extra hours to make up the difference. And when Kagura was repairing the damage that she had done to the house, Tohru had no problem staying up all night to help her finish. She even made sure to bring Kagura something to eat.

Tohru is also very sympathetic to others and tries hard to be emotionally supportive. She tries to see every conflict from every point of view, even deciding that the girls that pick on her at school can't be that bad because they also like Yuki. She barely knows Hatori when she's sitting on his porch and shedding tears for his tragic lost love. She manages to see the conflict between Yuki and Kyo in a way that neither of them could, and tries to explain it to Kyo using an extended riceball metaphor. Which doesn't completely work, but it's the thought that counts. She's even willing to give Akito a chance, despite knowing about many of the horrible things he's done.

But when it comes to her own problems, emotional or otherwise, Tohru usually keeps silent. She really hates to be a burden on anyone she knows. Even the thought that she might have troubled someone bothers her a lot. When her Grandfather's house needed remodeling, instead of asking her friends or admitting she had nowhere to stay, she began secretly living in a tent in the woods. When people offer her help, her first reaction is usually to apologize and insist that she'll be fine. If they persist, she'll accept their help, and will be extremely grateful. Even if it's something simple, like helping her study for a test. She also has a hard time accepting gifts, worrying that if she asks for too much, heaven will punish her. When Uo suggests that Tohru ask Shigure to buy her a few more pieces of furniture, she nearly panics, saying that he has done more than enough for her already. And she absolutely refuses to allow Shigure or her Grandfather to pay for any of her school fees.

But the Sohma's are persistent, and keep taking her on trips and giving her things that would seem like small gestures to most people, a ribbon, a trip to an onsen, etc. But to Tohru these things are so extravagant that they make her feel like a princess. Also generally modest, Tohru is quick to turn down a complement. Although she is equally eager to give them out to other people. It really doesn't take much to impress her. Everything from Shigure's silly romance manga to Kyo's riceball making technique is held in nothing short of awe.

In addition, Tohru is not very smart and extremely naive. She'll believe almost anything, even accepting some of Shigure's outrageous lies without question. She also seems fairly innocent, not quite understanding things such as what Haru could show the class president to prove his natural hair color. While they were alone . In the bathroom. (Yeah, he just dropped his pants.) And she tends to do poorly in school grade-wise, despite always trying very hard. School is very important to Tohru though, because her mother had always wanted her to finish high school, and she would do anything to keep this promise with her mother. Speaking of her mother, Tohru was very close to her and still carries her picture everywhere she goes. She can often be seen talking to it, believing that her mother can hear her in heaven.

In short, Tohru is the type to always put herself before others. She is kind, gentle, and understanding. As a result of this, she often makes friends very easily, even with rather difficult people. And, despite not being the brightest crayon in the box, she is actually very wise. Often her advice will turn out to be just what someone needed to hear.

Abilities: Nope, she's about as normal as you get.

Preferred Housing: 1336 Benny Road with Wataru and the Kyouko that's apping in, I have permission from both muns!

Character Name: Sayaka Miki
Character Series: Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica
Character Age: 14
Background: Episode summaries at wikipedia.

Because the Madoka wiki doesn't really have this stuff written out, I've also provided my own summary up to the canon point I'll be using:

Not much is ever said about Sayaka's past, but we do know that she has been friends with both Madoka Kaname and prodigy violinist Kyousuke Kamijou since childhood. Kyousuke eventually fell very ill and supposedly would never play again, and as Sayaka had developed romantic feelings for him, she visited him in the hospital frequently.

On one seemingly ordinary day, a girl named Homura Akemi transferred into her class. After school, Madoka and Sayaka went to mall, where they ended up being telepathically contacted by a small, furry creature that was begging for their help. As fate would have it, Homura turned out to the be the one this creature--known as "Kyuubey"--was running from. As Sayaka confronted Homura about her actions, she was interrupted by another girl who chased Homura off and went on to introduce herself as Mami Tomoe, explaining that she and Homura were magical girls and that Kyuubey was a creature that forms contracts with girls, granting a wish of theirs in exchange for their service as a magical girl in the fight against monstrous "witches." While the two were immediately enamoured by the idea, Mami warned them that being a magical girl is dangerous and to be taken seriously, so they should put a lot of thought into it before they contract. To help them make an informed decision, Mami decided to take the two witch hunting with her.

The trio went out hunting together a few times, and everything seemed to be going great for them until one of the witches...ate Mami. It was certainly a wake-up call for Madoka and Sayaka; Mami may have warned them of the danger of the job, but it hadn't really sunk in for either of them. An angry Sayaka blamed Homura for not intervening in the fight early enough to save Mami, despite the fact that Mami had tied Homura up with one of her ribbons before unwittingly walking off to her death.

As the two grieved, Kyuubey continued to pressure them to contract with him. After all, with Mami gone, who was going to protect the area from witches? He eventually convinced Sayaka to contract, healing Kyousuke for her wish. Sayaka started patrolling for witches herself, bringing Madoka along for company, but she wasn't anywhere near as good at it as Mami. She was inexperienced, but eager to learn.

Not long after contracting, Sayaka was attacked by another magical girl while attempting to fight a witch's familiar. This girl, Kyouko Sakura, explained that she stopped her from killing it because familiars should be allowed to mature into adult witches so their Grief Seed could be harvested. Sayaka could not accept endangering the population by allowing that, so the two got into a heated battle before Homura came and broke it up.

Personality:
At first glance, Sayaka Miki is a bubbly, energetic girl. She's almost always got a smile on her face, and she's eager to cheer up anyone that seems to be down. She's also extremely friendly--she tries to get to know everyone in her class and is on first name, no honorific basis with nearly everyone she talks to. She's a loud, boisterous person that loves to make silly jokes and tease people.

Sayaka is also very caring. She's constantly visiting her sickly friend Kyousuke in the hospital and goes out of her way to try and bring him things that will make him happy. She strongly believes that she needs to protect the people around here, and this is why she takes on a knightly magical girl(and later, witch) form. One of the first things she does as a magical girl is vow to protect the people of Mitakihara. When patrolling as a magical girl, she searches out both witches and familiars despite the fact that letting familiars become witches would be more convenient for her, because those familiars could hurt people just as easily as a witch. Even as an ordinary, powerless girl, Sayaka would throw herself into danger to protect others, as she jumped to defend Madoka the first time the two encountered Homura in her magical girl form.

Sayaka is extremely selfless, and has a very flawed, idealistic view of morality. She believes that no act is truly good if you get something out of it. This doesn't mean all of Sayaka's actions are completely selfless and without any benefit to her--it means that she hates herself for wanting personal gain from her actions. When Sayaka contracted, she used her wish to cure Kyousuke--something she doesn't immediately benefit from. However, it doesn't take long for someone to ask her--did she want to grant his wish, or to be the one to grant his wish? Did she grant it thinking she would get something from him in return? She says that she only wanted his wish to be granted, and in the end that is what she wants above all else, but she would still like him to reciprocate her feelings. She doesn't hold any ill will towards the girl that actually ends up dating Kyousuke...only herself, for being upset about him ending up with someone else. Her need to feel validated through completely selfless acts becomes her own undoing in the end, as she refuses to clean her Soul Gem, because doing so would be gaining something from fighting witches.

Being the naive, narrow-minded child that she is, Sayaka does not mesh well with people who hold beliefs that conflict with hers. She is very hostile towards Homura Akemi(who does not feel the need to protect everyone in this timeline, only Madoka) and Kyouko Sakura(who allows humans to die so familiars can grow into witches and she can get Grief Seeds from them), and her dislike for them makes her act irrationally, often making wild claims about them and blaming them for things that aren't actually their faults(like claiming Homura allowed Mami to die so she could have Charlotte's Grief Seed for herself when Homura couldn't have done anything even if she wanted to and Sayaka very well knew that). Even when Kyouko and Homura reached a hand out to her, she denied them, because she believes that she's just and they're not.

While her happiness is easily shattered as more and more of the unpleasant parts of being a magical girl become apparent to her, she still tries her best to soldier on. This is because Sayaka is incredibly stubborn. She's very set in her ways and very convinced that she's right about the world and how it should operate. She has a strong sense of justice and it takes a lot of traumatic experiences--most of which she hasn't gone through at this canon point--to make any of this waver.

Abilities:
Sayaka is a Puella Magi/magical girl. This gives her magical power as well as increased strength, agility, and durability. Sayaka in particular has incredibly strong regenerative abilities and can make it so she does not feel pain while transformed, as the wish that was granted when she became a magical girl was used to heal someone else. In her magical girl form she is capable of summoning as many cutlasses as she pleases from thin air.

There is also her Soul Gem to consider. Exactly as it sounds, the thing literally contains her soul, which was ripped out of her body when she became a magical girl. While this means that harming her body technically cannot kill her, Soul Gems are incredibly easy to break and doing so would result in her death. Not only that, but if she does not keep her Soul Gem pure, she will turn into a monstrous "witch." Soul Gems are generally cleaned by the "Grief Seeds" dropped when a witch is defeated, and both using magic and being in despair dirties them.

Background:  canon info; wiki on Germany

In canon, Germany first meets North Italy during World War I. He was in the middle of a mission when he stumbled upon a crate labelled "tomatoes" with an Italian on the inside claiming to be a tomato fairy. After some dialog between the two characters, Italy is revealed as the descendant of the Roman Empire. Germany is aghast and dreadfully confused by North Italy's behaviour--as he is throughout the series--and has a difficult time deciding if Italy is an incompetent soldier or in fact a genius by making Germany drop his guard.

After taking Italy as a prisoner, Germany proceeded to become even more confused. Germany couldn't comprehend why Italy had no motivation to try to escape, as a good soldier should. Eventually, two form an unlikely friendship and alliance. Italy visits during the interwar years, much to Germany's annoyance, at first. After all, he was trying to get all of those coo-coo clocks made to pay war reparations and all Italy was doing disrupting everything.

By the start of World War II, Germany formed an alliance with both Italy and Japan. Germany took the role as the leader of the group. He led training sessions for the three, and by going out of his way to save Italy on numerous occasions, such as when Italy got captured by the allied forces as a means to capture Germany. At this point, Germany and Austria are living together, symbolizing the Austrian Anschluss.

Germany engaged in a variety of activities during this arc, but perhaps one of the most important events was the aftermath of the Nazi-Soviet Nonaggression Pact. This was the point where Germany and Italy's friendship was confirmed, as Italy was worried he'd be replaced by Russia. However, this wasn't the case. If fact, Italy was Germany's first friend (with the exception of, perhaps, his brother.)

In the current era, Germany is shown efficiently leading world meetings by enforcing order. He has to yell in8 order to do it, but it stops the other nations from bickering among one another. He also participates in the G8 meetings, as Germany has one of the strongest economies. He lives in his own house now with his brother, Prussia, and his three dogs Aster, Blackie, and Berlitz.

For the most part, he is on good terms with the former allied nations.

Umbrella | Skullgirls | Not Reserved

Name: Cocola or Tarra; you can call me either!
Personal Journal: N/A
Contact Info: AIM is SweetCocola and Skype is CocolaWeda!
Other Characters Played: N/A
Preferred Housing: This is my first roleplay on Dreamwidth and I want to have fun, so let’s just randomize!

Character Name: Umbrella
Character Series: Skullgirls
Character Age: 8
Background: Umbrella was only a year old when her mother became the skullgirl and was later defeated. Her older sister, Parasoul, took it upon herself to look after Umbrella, seeing as they had no other family, despite the both of them being the princesses of the Canopy Kingdom.

Umbrella grew up in a sheltered yet protected inside the palace, surrounded by the Black Egrets, the military force in Canopy Kingdom. Besides the Black Egrets, Parasoul constantly worried for her sister, acting more like a mother than a sister to her. Despite how strict and sometimes cold Parasoul could be, Umbrella loves her very much.

However, when Parasoul went out on her royal and military duties, Umbrella was left alone in the palace, her only company being the Black Egrets (which aren't very good company to begin with, since all they do is take orders). When Umbrella wasn't sending them off to get food for herself (or Hungern), she would sneak out of the palace and carefully explore a small fraction of the Canopy Kingdom, day by day. So may things fascinated the young girl; fast food, arcades, bright lights, fast moving cars... It was a lot to take in, but Umbrella loved it.

Shortly after her eight birthday, Umbrella had been plagued by rather strange dreams of the new Skullgirl. She had no idea who she was or even what she wanted, but she did know that if she took the Skullgirl's Skullgem, any wish of hers could come true...

Personality: Being an eight-year old, Umbrella tends to be a bit on the naive side. She isn’t very aware of her surroundings and can be oblivious at times and is also very carefree, but Umbrella is very spunky and is able to bring life to any situation.

Umbrella also tends to be very blunt, not bothering to sugarcoat any truth. She believes honesty is the best policy, even if she may comes across as rude at times. Parasoul, unfortunately, gets most of Umbrella’s opinions regarding her wardrobe choices and her rather large posterior.

While she may be young, Umbrella is very courageous and will face any danger with a brave face… Despite this, however, Umbrella can throw tantrums over very trivial things, especially matters regarding food, since her living weapon, Hungern, tends to eat most of whatever the young girl manages to fix herself. Umbrella is also a bit spoiled, as she should be, after all, she is the princess of the Canopy Kingdom.

Underneath her childish personality, however, lies a lonely little girl. Being the younger sister of the crown princess of the Canopy Kingdom has caused Umbrella to live a life locked indoors and protected by the Black Egrets. Though she loves her sister dearly, Umbrella wants nothing more than to explore every inch of the world outside and make friends of her own (preferably around her age, but hey, she’s not being picky).

Abilities: Umbrella has an unusually high magic potential, and as such, is able to cast destructive spells like fire. However, because of her age, she has very little control over how much damage it can cause.
She also is in possession over her living weapon, Hungern. Hungern is a multi-eyed umbrella with the ability to consume anything he pleases. His mouth can open as wide as he need it be and chomp down on whatever he has on sights set on. Umbrella also has a hard time controlling Hungern, especially when he is very hungry.

Sample Entry:

Hey!!

[Hauling herself up onto a brick wall, Umbrella stared down at all the residents that slowly passed by. They all looked like the typical, dumb drones she had somehow grown accustomed to since coming here... And she didn't like that at all. A small sigh escaped from the girl's lips as she looked at all the drone with a somewhat bored look; maybe somewhere out there, there was someone who wasn't dumb... Like Umbrella!!]

Which one of you guys is actually cool and wants to play with me!?

[Umbrella had grown rather lonely during her short time here. She missed Parasoul... Even the Black Egrets!! She wanted nothing more than to go home but... She couldn't. No matter how hard the young one tried, she couldn't get out of here.

Which was precisely why she had to try and keep her hopes up; sooner or later, she knew Parasoul would come for her. She just knew it!! Behind Parasoul's big butt lay a huge brain that she used to hatch up her schemes... So, all Umbrella had to do was try to make the best of this situation, as annoying as it was.
]

No boring dronies allowed! Only real people can be my friend, okay!?

Character Name: Kyouko Sakura
Character Series: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Character Age: 15
Background: wikimagic
Personality:
Kyouko, on the first impression of her, can come off as a smug, overconfident jerkass. Because, well, she is. Certain of her part in the world and her place in the metaphorical foodchain, Kyouko doesn't take no for an answer when a goal she has in mind gets interrupted. She's quick to relay the points of her own superiority if provoked, even to other puella magi. She doesn't take anyone's crap, and is seems to dislike authority figures by default. She's blunt, rude, and overly crass in terms of language--out of the entire cast, she's the only one who swears, and her language both in Japanese and English is very informal, taking no measures to be polite or correct in grammar. Coming from the background she does, she's a "hardened veteran" per se, and it takes a hell of a lot to crack her, or even get her strained/upset. Her motivations are selfish, and that's really what makes up the majority of her character--her "look out for yourself and no one else" attitude. She doesn't mind resorting to violence when push comes to shove. Or really, even, just when she becomes annoyed, she'll physically lash out at those around her.

She wasn't always like this, however. In fact, the wish that granted her her puella magi abilities was one out of complete selflessness: for people to listen to her father's preaching. They came in droves, boosting her family up from poverty and near-starvation. But through one way or another, Kyouko's father found out about her wish, going mad at the revelation that no one was coming of their own free will, and called her a witch. He killed the rest of the family and himself, leaving Kyouko as the lone survivor. Kyouko lost any semblance of "faith" she had, calling the concept of religion "false hope." She seems to waver on this topic, however, as she has a rosary she's said prayers with in times of crisis, and the one place she's actually seen staying during her on-screen appearances is an abandoned church.

With her family's tragic end hanging over her head, Kyouko became jaded. She views "hero" mindsets as silly and stupid, promoting the "fight for yourself and only for yourself" motto to the "knightly" character Sayaka. Heroism is dead to Kyouko, her mindset being "what happens is what happens, and it doesn't matter if a few dozen people get killed from it." She does what she feels needs to be done, without hesitation. It's stated that because the wording of Kyouko's wish was "to enlighten them", she gained light-based powers in her puella magi form. When her father went berserk and her faith was lost, she physically lost these powers, and hasn't ever gained them back, showing how deeply scarred she actually is. Her family going without food for days on end affected her mental state for the rest of her life, making her obtain and snarf down food whenever she could. She abhors the idea of wasting food, even when Sayaka just throws an apple onto the ground in rejection of Kyouko's offer.

On the inside, though, she's not that bad of a person. She watched out for Sayaka, as Sayaka's wish was to help another person as well, and she didn't want her to suffer the same fate. While at first their relationship was bickering about the nature of helping people, Kyouko quickly grew attached to her, trying her best to prevent Sayaka's inevitable downfall. She felt the pain of being alone, with no one beside you, and for coincidental reasons was the last person to see Sayaka alive before she turned into a witch--right in front of Kyouko. She decided it was better to die there with Sayaka's witch then turn into one herself and die alone, slayed by another puella magi. And so she did, summoning up all of her power, and committing suicide as she blasted away Sayaka's witch with her soul gem and her spear.

Because being lonely sucks.

Nico Kanna | Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Name: Kobayashi
Personal Journal: N/A
Contact Info: MindtheSukima on AIM, PerfectSquare on Plurk
Other Characters Played: Davesprite, Diamonds Droog, Remilia Scarlet
Preferred Housing: 5722 Cunningham Lane, permissions granted

Character Name: Nico Kanna
Character Series: Puella Magi Kazumi Magica/Madoka Magica
Character Age: Unknown/Under 18
Background: Here
Personality: Nico is a quiet girl with understated emotions who tends to play it cool and observe the scene before jumping into things. Level-headed, she tends to approach situations analytically, using her head to figure it out and how to deal with it. Though her expression doesn’t change much, she’s not so much cold as calm, not one to stress out or panic even in the direst of situations. Despite this, she’s a generally well-meaning girl with a hidden sense of humor and an appreciation for friends and having fun.
Usually the quiet one in the group, she’s not so much shy or withdrawn as simply passive. In a number of scenes, she plays a specifically observer role, such as when Kazumi is confronted by Satomi, she watches from a distance with Jyuubey, while some of the other girls moved closer or ran to stop them. In conversation, she tends to let the others speak first, or even appear to not be paying attention, but will assert her own analysis given her intelligence and powers of observation. She’s not very forceful about it though and tends not to take a leadership role, but remains dependable in all situations thanks to her level head and ability to not worry much about things. Even in the heat of battle, she can remain calm and observe, such as when fighting the Souju sisters and calmly watching after telling Kazumi in a deadpan tone to get hit a few more times.
Though she seems distant, Nico is a friendly girl and does like her friends. While she’s fine working solo, she enjoys the company of others and being with them, always with a little smile on her otherwise mostly unchanging expression when they share meals together or have fun, or when spending time with Kazumi, such as listening to her get excited about everyone going to an amusement park. She’s also something of a joker, usually inserting sarcastic remarks with a dry sense of humor, though without malice, or remarks like saying her smartphone “was killed in action” when she dropped it during a battle, or the like, and even going so far as pranking her friends, such as rigging Mirai’s birthday cake to explode in her face. Usually it’s a more understated kind of humor though, like acting like it’s no big deal to suddenly show up after everyone thinks she died.
There is a darker side to Nico though, something she doesn’t show often. There is a certain level of fear and depression rooted both in her past trauma and her current situation, knowing how she harmed others and how she is now most likely doomed to harm others when she becomes a witch. This is seen when she overexerts herself and does give into despair and becomes a witch, wishing not to hurt anyone anymore and wanting someone to kill her. It shows a very negative self-image. She is still one of the least open of the Pleiades Saints and the one who most often works by herself. As well, there’s certainly something disturbing about her expression when she switches with her “spare”.
A mysterious girl to be sure, Nico can be counted on to keep a level head, provide a keen insight and a joking remark, and be a strong person you can depend on. A bit dark, a bit cheeky, she’s probably a good person though.

Abilities: Nico is a magical girl. What this actually means is that her soul has been removed from her body and crystalized into a soul gem that can control her body from up to 100 meters away. Her fortified body feels reduced pain and can be healed with magic; in fact, as long as her soul gem remains unharmed, she won’t die regardless of what kind of damage her body takes if she has enough power left to reconstruct herself. She can also create blasts of energy and has enhanced physical abilities of speed, strength and agility. There is of course, a limit – using magic tarnishes her soul gem, and if it isn’t cleaned by using Grief Seeds harvested from witches, she’ll become a witch. This is true of all magical girls.
For Nico specifically, her magic is in the element of “reconstruction”, which besides probably enhanced regeneration, includes the ability to break down and reconstruct inanimate materials as other objects; her specialties are finger rockets and doubles of herself. She also seems skilled at magical constructions; she made a smartphone app that can help attune soul gems for tracking specific witches once given a sample of its signature, as well as being the one who handles the containers used to capture grief seeds and other important objects for the Pleiades Saints. Also as payment for her wish, she was granted one or more “spares” or the ability to create “spares”, copies of herself that take her place in life, including any misfortune that befalls her and she can switch in with when it dies.

Sample Entry:
[Phone]

[While it would be wrong to say the voice that spoke up sounded bored, she didn’t sound like she was really focused on the conversation, more organizing her thoughts than actually speaking to any one in particular.]

It’s of course nice that there’s no witches here, but it’s also a little inconvenient… well, I mean, there are witches but I don’t think you guys will drop Grief Seeds. Having this back is convenient but probably useless if we can’t clean it. I guess I can save it for Emergency Use Only?

Well, it looks pretty. Maybe I can use it as a paper weight.

So what did everyone else get after that disaster?

[Action]

[A girl with obviously stolen pants, given Mayfield’s idea of gender roles, is strolling down the street, holding out a gem the size and shape of an egg out at arm’s length, turning and looking at it as the sun sparkles off it. And then sighs.]

…I think I would have rather gotten my phone.

Mato Kuroi | Black Rock Shooter 2/2

[personal profile] timidbraveheart 2012-05-09 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: An energetic and dorky young girl, Mato is the protagonist of the Black★Rock Shooter OVA, initially an eleven-year old starting her first year of junior high. Mato is shown to be enthusiastic about starting junior high, getting up early to get ready for school, though complaining about having to wake up her little brother; she's seen brushing her teeth while talking to her mother at the same time, and later juggling a piece of toast she took right out of the toaster. She almost misses the train due to making a sidetrip along the way, as well. When she first meets Yomi, she reads the other girl's family name as 'Kotoriasobi' (小鳥遊), and later chases her down after the opening ceremonies, only able to comment on the other girl's height. ("My height?" "Yeah, you're tall. Must be nice.")

Mato is fond of star-themed things, as evident by the decorations in her room; along with the decals on her wall, her pajamas and even her shoes have stars on them, and her calendar features an image of an unidentified planet. Even her cellphone strap has a star on it, which Mato later gives Yomi a matching one as a gift. ("I noticed your phone doesn't have a strap. I think it's rather lonely.") One of the other things she enjoys is basketball, and she expresses to Yomi that she had decided she would take up basketball in junior high, hoping that it would make her taller as well; Mato also attempts to convince Yomi to join the basketball club with her.

Of course, along with being a dork, Mato is also naive, and tends to be oblivious. When Mato and Yomi are placed in separate classes in their second year of middle school, Mato more or less tries to remain optimistic about this, visiting Yomi before and after classes each day. However, when Mato makes a new friend out of Yuu, a girl on her basketball team, she doesn't realize Yomi's growing jealousy towards this sudden rift in their friendship, and is caught off guard when Yomi goes missing.

At first, Mato is awkward around people she doesn't know, and is sensitive and meek. When detectives visit Mato's house to ask her about Yomi's disappearance, Mato breaks down crying. She stays up all night staring at her cellphone, waiting for some sort of message or sign Yomi is okay, and when she gets a blank text supposedly from Yomi's phone, Mato takes this as a sign, and takes her bike to go look for her. Over the course of the OVA, and by the time of her merging with Black★Rock Shooter, Mato gains the courage she needs to rescue Yomi from Dead Master's possession.

Preferred Housing: N/A.

Character Name: Rouyama Saki, Go-On Yellow.
Character Series: Engine Sentai Go-Onger.
Character Age: Late teens.

Background: Here!

She'll be coming in after her own series.

Personality: The first thing one can notice about Saki is that she is perpetually cheerful, always willing to help someone cheer up however she can. In fact, her personal mantra is "smile, smile!", which she'll use on others when they're being grumpy or just need a reason to smile. This also means that Saki doesn't turn away from the chance to tease her teammates when the opportunity comes as well as be as playful as she wants to be. That being said, when she forms a close bond to other people, her jabs towards them will be a bit mean in nature to those who are outsiders, however she does it because she knows how they'll react and won't take it too badly. More than likely, she'll just keep the teasing down to a minimum around others, and when the bond forms even more, that is when she'll get more and more playful with her jokes.

She is also a rather sweet individual, as her namesake is emblazoned on her coat as being "Sweet Angel Saki". As such, this extends into her cooking as she's great with dessert making, but with her tendency to add sugar to, well, just about everything, she fails at making anything else. However, this doesn't deter her from her dream of becoming an idol, which is another reason why she smiles as she states that, "an idol should smile in every situation."

In a crisis, Saki always makes sure to remain upbeat and cheerful, even when the odds are stacked against her. This is something she tries to instill in her teammates so that they, too, don't lose hope and lose their morale. That being said, it's noted by Bomper that the reason she became a Go-Onger in the first place was due to her selfless choice to evacuate citizens from the Twin Ring Motegi racetrack with the help of Renn and Sousuke, the former being a bus driver at the time and the latter being a racecar driver. Beyond this, though, she knows that her duty as a Go-Onger is one she must take seriously and this comes with sacrificing her safety to make sure that everyone else is okay first. Her main motivation stems from her want to protect the Human World from the Gaiark, an empire that's bent on wanting to pollute everything around them, and as such, her want to become a Go-Onger was solidified the moment she had her powers.

The only real being thing that Saki gets annoyed about is that when others swoop in to hog the glory when she thinks that they're doing just fine. This happened when the Go-On Wings, Go-On Gold and Go-On Silver, jumped in and took care of their fight without even saying who they were. This makes her a bit stubborn, as well as snobby, as she thinks that it's the original Go-Ongers job to defeat the Gaiark and not theirs, even when it's proved that it's going to be useful in the end. This sort of behavior made Go-On Silver regard her as a little girl, although the two reconciled their differences and became good friends with her to improve their overall teamwork so as to eliminate the Gaiark once and for all.

Abilities: Here is a brief synopsis of her powers as Go-On Yellow.

Even without her powers as Go-On Yellow, Saki is an excellent melee fighter and is able to quickly think on her feet, as it was seen in episode two that she grabbed a wrench from a racetrack worker to fight against the Gaiark that were on the racetrack.

Beyond that, with her Go Phone and her Change Soul, she's able to transform into Go-On Yellow and finish her transformation with saying "'Met On!" Her suit is capable of withstanding heavy blows and slashes, which resonate off of her by sparks flying off. She can also run long distances in a short amount of time thanks to the special capabilities her suit contains. The wristbands as well as the top of her boots can also be turned into wheels for an additional attack.

Her focus is mainly projectile attacks by using the Racing Bullet and can use the attack Bullet Crash, which zips at an enemy at mach speed so as to land as many hits as possible. With Go-On Red and Go-On Blue, she can combine her weapon with theirs to form the Highway Buster, a sort of gun-like weapon that has a destructive enough blast to wipe out their enemies. Beyond that, every Go-Onger is given a Mantan Gun, which can go into Gun Mode or Rod Mode, whereas the former can be used to shoot blasts at and Rod Mode can be used in close contact battle and requires an Engine Soul to power it.

Go-On Yellow's personal mech is Bear RV. Bear RV is a completely sentient machine and is the third biggest of the three original engines. When Go-On Yellow places Bear RV's Engine Soul into the Engine Cast, she can grow to her original size and be used for battle or to be driven. She can utilize Bus-On's ramp to be airborne and with this, she can "open" herself up to take down planes and helicopters piloted by the Gaiark in the sky. Her bottom half can be used as a shield for the Engine Gattai Engine-O to join the sword it uses. She's utilized as the middle of the Engine Gattai Engine-O and can be upgraded into several different forms via combination with the other engines.

However, Saki is someone who helps the team out with trying to cheer them up, even when times are difficult or even downright impossible. She's also rather good with giving people advice to boot. And, while she is an excellent pastry chef, do not let her cook anything else because it will taste too sweet!

Butch arrive into the world pre-canon, alongside his friend the Sundance Kid. He is the leader of the Wild Buch (Hole in the Wall Gang) of which Kid is also part of.
He is first seen at the North Wall of Carneades, which is the Frontier fortress of North Carneades.
He and Kid watch Scipio, Hannibal, the Octobrist's and the Carneade soldiers fight. Neither of them really get what's going on, or what the fuss is about.

He is present when the Black King arrive to attack, and he and Kid bring along Scipio, Hannibal and Seimei to get away from the battlefield, because according to Seimei, they can't afford to lose the Drifters.

They fight their way through, and it's very close that he was fried by a dragon. It was only the fact that Kanno Naoshi shot down the dragon just in time that saved him.

While they were heading towards the location of Toyohisa, Nobunaga and Yoichi, Kid and Butch opened way for them while they were fleeing from the enamies. Buring this, they lost Scipio, who fell off the carriage.

When Yoichi was being suffocated by Gille de Rais, Kid and Butch appears. While they don't get what's going on, Kid, encouraged by Seimei, shoot Gille to pieces.

They show and demonstrate their guns to Nobunaga, who is very interested in the weapons. Butch don't really get why Nobunaga get so excited when they show him their gatling gun, nor all his monologue about ''could have done things that way instead of that'' but he think it's awesome that they are making gunpowder.

When Toyohisa's group is going to free the dwarves, he give one of his guns to Nobunaga, and ask him to keep some bullets for him ans Kid, once they have managed to create bullets.

Character Name: The Summoner (No idea of last name but some variation of "Peter" would be hilarious.)
Character Series: Homestuck
Character Age: Young adult. 11-12 sweeps/24-26 years
Background: MSPA wiki
Personality: The ancestors don't get much screentime, if at all, but Summoner's life and basic personality are described in Mindfang's journal, and it's also been mentioned that they share many similarities with their descendants in basic personality traits. However, because of their vastly different lives, they could be quite different. Summoner is one case, because where his descendent fell to depression, meekness and poor self esteem due in part to the society he was forced to grow up in, Summoner gained the courage to fight back and rebel. On the other hand, it's implied (due to the legends that sprang up about him involving taking children away to paradise) that he shares his sense of compassion for everyone, even people he should rightly hate.

Summoner was born very nearly the lowest of the low in a very strict caste system, and eventually rose to lead a violent rebellion against his "betters" so to say he unquestioningly respects authority would be an outright lie. However, that isn't to say that he has no respect for authority, just that he despises inequality, and will boldly try to thwart it where he can. Merit is the only thing that he'll give his respect to, and if he doesn't believe an authority figure has merit he'll give them merry (and not so merry) hell.

He's charismatic and a skilled leader, military and otherwise, and was able to convince the downtrodden and meek to rise up even against those far more powerful than them. He has the loyalty and bravery to command unquestioning respect. He's also described as the most fearless and skilled of the Cavalreapers. He has the perseverance, the intelligence, and tactics to turn his men into a fighting force to be reckoned with, resulting in a nearly successful rebellion. He also had the strength of personality and attractive qualities to make Mindfang become his matesprit, but also the ability to put his feelings aside and kill her when it was necessary. He fought with his rebels loyally presumably to the very end, and resulted in the adults being banished from the planet and the stories of "Pupa Pan" to start up. Pupa Pan, in this case, being the troll analogue of Peter Pan, and the allusions drawn are very intentional. Summoner's character is a shout out to the various Peter Pan stories.

From these allusions to Peter Pan (and Rufio) it can be assumed that he has some things in common with those characters. Things like a propensity towards mischief, whimsy, and a sense of justice and intense compassion for others. He loves all kinds of adventure and fun and games and is chock full of joie de vivre. Unfortunately this means he can also be inconsistent and too proud for his own good on occasion, but life experiences have tempered his worst qualities down a little to more manageable levels. Where Peter Pan and Rufio were only boys, Summoner is very much an adult and a trained soldier. He did learn discipline and self-control along the way.

Compassion, love of equality, fierce pride and bravery, adventurous, and passion in general are a good way to sum him up.

Abilities:
General troll abilities: Stronger and more durable than a human, with better senses (especially vision and probably hearing--they're a nocturnal species).

Flight: He has huge wings in his own body and is fully flight capable. The wings are probably more delicate than the rest of him and they also leave behind a trail of bronze glittery dust everywhere but they're more than strong enough to keep him aloft and maneuverable for as long as his stamina holds out.

Psychic Ability, Communion: Communion is said to be a very rare and powerful ability. With it he is able to control and understand/communicate with any beast or creature, including those that are effectively gods. There's a certain amount of finesse involved, but he was capable of commanding a whole army of loyal beasts with his abilities so he's quite skilled in using it.

Sample Entry:

[The voice on the phone sounds too chipper to be allowed. And yet, he obviously exists and is indeed that energetic.]

Good morning! Haha! My words to the sky mornings are breathtaking. I'm thankful I got the chance to see them in person.

[A pause, and his voice edges into a tone that's slightly more serious under the upbeat tone.]

But mornings aren't what I want to talk about. I've been here long enough to get my bearings now. There's something I noticed. On the surface we don't look very organized! The surface hides many things. I know that well. So if there's organization and information being shared I want to know about it.

If there isn't we need to start one! Some of us have been here long. Others just arrived. We all have experience and knowledge that can be put to use. If we stand together nothing will see us fall!

Come. My fellows we must work together to find our way home.
